Help pls: High recording rate AND resolution
rory replied to cctvfan's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It must since im getting real time recording Well, actually it must mean whatever the top available display speed is for that camera depending on the board. Ill have to read the manual and see what it sais on that. Herm has used more of these than me so maybe he can tune in on it.? I think the only true real time card they have is the 4 channel XP card, meaning you can add 4 cards to get 16 cameras at 30fps per camera. They just came out with a 16 channel version of that also. -

They change for me ... you have to click OK. When you do "same as preview" it will record the fastest speed available for the card. Yes they could make it easier. Also, 15pps is basically real time to the human eye. -

Bestest 4-channel DVR Cards
rory replied to G22's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
yes its on my home page, on the right hand side, there is the browser demo, need to enable pop ups and active x prompt where its disabled, or download the demo software, both are customized GUIs by myself There is also a video clip t hat you can download either in AVI or WMV, AVI is the raw recorded file. I am recording in Wavelet (for higher quality) at 640x480, and Streaming in Mpeg4 for near real time over the internet. Also, my screen resolution is 640x480 also, so it is clear when i put a camera in full screen. Rory -

GEs Stand Alones allow individual recording speed settings on each camera. Unfortunately it is still just 60pps in 720x480, but 2 cams at 15 and the rest at the left over speed. Isnt that what you want?? Rory -
Bestest 4-channel DVR Cards
rory replied to G22's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Well, dont know about the best, thats like asking whats the best looking girl in the world ..? Iview has a 4channel 120fps, thats 30 per camera, 640x480, Mpeg4-s, Mjpeg, Wavelet, Selectable. -
The DVMRes Support Raid, and also, GE has their own digital device called the DVS. The DVRs you have are ready to be attached to archiving devices, so there is no need to buy any thing else at this point, unless you want to, but you have some great machines. WaveReader will not do what you want. Check GE Support for further info. Do you have the archiving manual that came with it? It lists everything you need to know abouyt aqrchiving, i will see if I can locate the PDF and post it here. Rory

Help the Newb! GeoVision 800 or wait for h.264 cards?
rory replied to 2noids's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Guess what, H.264 IS MPEG4 check out the demo on my site ..it auto connects in MPEG4-S .. by the way, its a good job they arent recording in that quality ....it looks like the lowest quality setting. Im not saying its not good, ofcourse its good, just dont let them make you think that it is ALL there is available to give you real time video. -
looks like maybe custom software on comart cards .. not sure.

2.4Ghz should still give you real time if the card supports it. Check your memory and other factors also. Mine is a 2.0ghz celleron with 256MB DDR and im getting real time. Im also recording at 640x480.

Help the Newb! GeoVision 800 or wait for h.264 cards?
rory replied to 2noids's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The DVR does the motion side of it, not the cameras. No motion detection from CCTV should replace a real motion detector as used in an alarm system. You would use the alarm output of the DVR to tie into the alarm panel's siren using a 12V relay, or trigger a zone. Thomas answered your question about VI. Others also have it now, the one I have here is Iview. Geo also uses it. They are different forms of Mpeg4 though also. Ademco is Honeywell, its huge, you would actually use a retailer/installer/distirbutor to buy the parts from or have installed. Rory -
no that message means a required file, probably an OS file, is missing.
-
yeah it sais it has browser based also?

What DVR is this
rory replied to cctv_down_under's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
aint seen that one before, uses a standard PC case, XP Embedded, no buttons so its not much different from a PC ....probably custom written software .. mussee an ausie production, let us know when it comes over this side Whaz the pricing like (Retail)? -
yeah, i dont understand it much,.. its the GE book price ...sure its around the same as what you guys pay, just in aussie dollars I did hear computer fiber products were much cheaper though ... sure thats not what you are thinking about ..? Retail Prices. EDIT: this is the book price for a single channel, i was thinking of 8 channels or something: 246D1K-R/1B49 MM Video, 2-Way Audio & Data, Rx, Can. $1600 (RETAIL) 250DL-R/1BX3 MM 16-CH Contact/TTL Data, Rx, Can $1200 (Retail) S737DVT-RST MM 16-CH Video & 2-Way MPD Data, Digitally Processed, Tx, Rack $14,000 (RETAIL) Dont know what any of this means though??! Still alot more than the price of using Cat5 or Coax ..
-
what do you think is the best quality (yeah i know fiber) yet still affordable? Which do you prefer? Do you hire sub contractors to install fiber, do you install cat5 and if so what products do you use (receivers, patch panels, etc), what do YOU do, for the neatest, best quality, video runs?? im here listening Rory
-
yeah thats the one ... ! I got to look that web site up again ... just for grins and giggles ..
-
ha hahah hhaaa ...!!!! remember you talked to them before .. what was the cards they were actually using??
-
fiber, like $8,000 for the cheapest one on this side ..the nodes etc, or are you just meaning the cable itself .. the cable does nothing though without the nodes etc, right?
-
also, it looks like it uses something called the Apache HTTP server, which would have to be running for the browser based GUI to work with it. Rory
