    New DVR

if the card is retailing for this, yeah its got to be cheap.. as for the DVR software, whats the name of it? So its runnning on a slow AMD chip? So basically its a cheap PC witha Cheap TV Tuner card ..adn some customized software ..nope I cant beat that price sorry! LOL I can get AMD Semprton machines ready built for $250-300 from tiger direct. Its the P4 and Celleron machines that bring the price up, and a good card. http://shopper.cnet.com/Hauppauge_WinTV_PVR_250MCE_TV_video_radio_input_adapter_PCI/4014-6474_9-30642588.html?rvwtp=4540-6474_9-30642588&ilytg=orderby%3D90%26sort%3D

  13. anyone got any suggestions? I need something I can extend to at least 3 TVs. What do you think the chances of the DVR Remote working with a Universal Remote? IF not, do you know any besides something like the price range of the Prontos, that can learn in the codes itself? Short of buying multiple remotes, or having to use one upstairs and downstairs for example ... wanna always have another one at each other TV! Also, what type of wire to extend them, just telco 24AWG? Any other tips? Also, something I can buy from a common store ... or security distributor even if possible.. Thanks Rory

    New DVR

you can build your own probably for a lot cheaper, remote control comes with PC cards, and those cases are nothing special. To be considered non PC or a stand alone, would require some buttons on the DVR, you know, look like a DVR, not look like a PC I can pick up from Tiger Direct Anyway, what Card do they use? Im not saying dont buy, let us know how it works, and get some screen shots ..

    DSL and Router

yeah same here, they block the SMTP, but not port 80. They just blocked it out of the blue one weekend .. then when we called on the monday we found out, they think you have to pay a business acount to have a website and email ...business cable accounts here start at $150 a month, home users from $34 to $69 .. DSL is even more!

    DSL and Router

dude thats what I think I was looking for, that makes sense. Yes i can create local IPs no problem, in the range. Or can it just use DHCP like cable, and still work? What about how they do the dial up thing right now, with the DSL modem, does the router do that itself ..?
  19. dude can that image load any slower! LOL
  20. Okay, so what about the Port triggering in the Linksys router? isnt that what that is there for? Just nice to know for any future kodicom installs
