Is there a device to see (measure) the view of Lenses?
rory replied to jjjjjjj's topic in Security Cameras
Anyway, no need for any lens calculators, just use one of these: Ive never had to use a calculator except for my quotes http://www.securityideasvar.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=585 -
Can someone recommend a compression crimper?
rory replied to jjjjjjj's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If you know how to put on Twist ons properly, they will stay on as tight as any Crimped on Connector. This is FACT. -
Its not the DVR or Software, its the camera that matters. Thats where Extreme rules. You can download software for free to be used for Licence Capture which is why spending money on a special LPR DVR is a waste of money, especially since all it is, is PC based and a text capturing software.

Yep Beams will, but they cost alot less. I agree with the non PC, but any high end DVR, doesnt have to be a Panasonic which costs more than its worth. Same goes for Pelco, there are other PTZs just as good, such as the GE CyberDomes, Bosch PTZ, etc. Honestly I dont think they want to protect a Military Installation, so I doubt they will do all that ..?

There is nothing wrong with a Twist on Connector for most jobs, once you can do it properly. -

Hi,its called a view finder. Its almost become obselete with the introduction of Varifocal lenses, though it is still very useful. Rory -
thats a good idea .. a 900 number to the Bahamas Except, it costs more to live and operate down here .. Personally, ill anwer questions that arent local, but locally, it would just be taking money out of my pocket. I will sell to DIYers locally but they are on their own. Id give them product support, but no installation tips - otherwise they will start doing it themselves.

Any Dome for $150 or less is going to be Cheap Quality and Probably wont last that long. Nothing wrong with that, I sell some cheap ones too, just dont expect them to be a professional camera.
-
And if you cant afford the in ground sensors, look at Optex Beams.
-
For me .. duty free DVR board, so I save a few hundred$$ on that, then I can stick it in any PC Power Case, and even an empty Ademco Alarm Panel.
-
Much lower for a dealer, with LAN also. But yeah I know what you mean ..
-
Note to self. When buying a PTZ always buy a PTZ from the same manufacturer as the DVR, for less issues, plug and play. Otherwise be prepared for problems like this.
-
Nope, the 4 channel stand alones start at $500 retail, plug and play. Remember security is all about reliability. Pluggin the cards into a PC that is not dedicated is a definate no no for a Security DVR.
-
im not saying I want to deal with them, I was just touching on the CCTV part that takes experience .. the cameras.
-
he he, no way .. not here, but in the first world for sure .. then again, there is no reason for a DIY to build a PC when they can buy a ready made stand alone DVR .. Rory
-
how can they burn a MB?? besides thats Computer related not neccassarily CCTV ... and almost everyone knows how to build a PC these days. The experience in CCTV, is always going to be with Cameras, what camera to use where, and how to install it properly. DVRs are so plug and play these days, anyone can install a DVR with little or no experience in the CCTV industry. Multiplexers and Matrix systems, thats a different story.

high recording quality ... it uses MJpeg though .. either way, cant beat the price.

do you work out of your place, or you have to go in to their offices?
-
Whats the Spectral Response?
-
Are you a Rep for them, or Work Directly for them? Or is it the same thing?? He he, as for the Bias thing, thats why I sell 4 differnt DVR brands, and Several Different brands of cameras, there is no 1 brand that can do everything ..

What did you see regarding the Licence Capture, was it Wide Dynamic cameras, from Like Samsung, etc, with alot of added Light ..? If so, we tried all that down here, doesnt capture the plates 100% of the time, more like 60%, so we have gone with REG-L from Extreme, guarenteed 24/7 no extra setup time on our part, no extra lighting. Unless there is something else ..

This is the most well known one. http://www.stamweb.com/cctv.htm Though certification in alarms or CCTV doesnt mean much. And if you get some paper from a manufacturer it means even less, unless you are only selling that manufacturers products, which makes little sense as no manufacturer makes the perfect full line of CCTV products. GE, Pelco, Honeywell, they all do that training thing, but its only with their products, so dont waste your time.
-
i forgot to mention that goes for all the name brands, not the OEM stuff out of asia .. Though even some of them can compete. Im just tired of all these Wide Dynamic Cameras coming out at $400 a camera and they suck compared to their non wide dynamic cheaper cameras from the same or other brand names.

Kaysadeya(too long to write) Ive come to the conclusion, no matter what the manufacturer's say. mine better than yours, etc, mine does this, blah blah blah, there truly is not yet, the perfect camera, there will always be something, even if it is a setup issue. They always lie lie lie in there brochures, I havent seen anyone yet that doesnt. Its all marketting. So dont believe this or that as you will spend a fortune testing out camera after camera only to find out they are almost all the same!
