is this the upgrade to the 474?? They spec they only go to 0.06 lux in BW, where other models are 0.01 in BW such as some other Exviews, any ideas if these keep up to par with the exview as to low light capabilities?

Which ones, they have a couple different levels of cameras. The $70-100 ones are crap just like any other OEM brand you buy anywhere else. The Heat cameras are great, the CVC-325s have lasted me over 4 years not one issue, they cost $140 though .. Trust me, Ive tried the $50 ones from other companies, still do, and bullets in the $100+ range, where Provideo's Bullets have been the best. All bullet cameras cant take much power problems, you can burn them easy. Not every product that everyone sells, is great, thats why I dont buy from one brand only, i pick the best of the best. I wouldnt touch Provideo's Domes or DVRs for example, exept 1 dome in particular, the most expensive one, which is as good/better than the GEs at a lower price (like $50 cheaper). I wouldnt use bullet cameras in any high end job though, There are other products you could use that will perform better. Why use a bullet camera? Discreet and cheap - thats the only time you want to use them. Only use a Dome when they want discreet and Vandal Resistant. Otherwise use Full Pro cameras for best picture, features, and stability. Name a better bullet camera - their HEAT range. There is none, besides Extreme CCTVs. They also have some of the best tech support in the industry.

They dont make anything. They have the best Bullet cameras in the industry though.

??? Noone else makes the Storesafe besides Kalatel ... That IS the GE kalatel StoreSafe, that company is just not posting the actual product name. Its just a sales pitch. They are just a reseller. How did WebGate getinto this?? Their DVRs are totally different, and cheaper.

DataAve, you want to buy from a distributor, not a dealer, or direct from the manufacturer whenever you can. You are in Long island NY, look at Provideo, they are in Amittyville I think, go direct. There are others up there also on Long Island. Mid range products, that last.

they have to start by getting rid of ActiveX and making it all Java ..

wont work down here, cant sure anyone if they dont pay you for the gear ..costs double to bring the gear here ..

Its already a screwed up business. I get this email every month from this place in Miami that sells dead cheap OEM stuff, I mean DVRs for $175, color cameras at $30, PTZ for $500, etc. But they sell to anyone that walks into their shops. I have clients here that are on their dealer mailing lists! They have even forwarded me emails from them to me, that ofcourse I already had, on the monthly specials, in otherwords saying why is my stuff so expensive!!! Anyway, the majority of people selling them here, have no clue about the technical side of CCTV, really nothing at all, they just plug anything in. So there is still a need there, as well as volume for DIY stuff in retail stores to resell, and high end clients.

ive maybe sold 10 (?) $3000 DVRs in the past couple years ... they just dont sell, they just dont care how good it is ..they'd rather a VCR or nothing down here ..

Normally they just use cat5 ...or fiber. With Cat5 you need an Atcive UTP TX and RX, but then you get no video loss or interference.. you get 3000' active-passive, or 1.5 miles active-active. www.nvt.com
