    Router Interference?

It wont matter much for speed, as the PDA is slow anyway, you dont get fast video like you would on a PC. Its great quality though, and at least you can go on and see who is there, the refresh rate is very long though. Rory
  3. I cant speak for Geo Vision, but this seems to be the same with all the PC DVR cards I have tried.

    Infrared system

Here is an Infrared System I installed, originally had Provideo IR Bullets but they didnt work in the pitch dark, OUTSIDE, even with extra IR LED Lighting. So we upgraded, as client has the money for the best, I installed as follows: General Cameras 6 Extreme CCTV EX82 Day Night Cameras 480TVL Color, 420TVL BW (IR to 150+') Dome Camera - Front Door 1 ExtremeCCTV Ex45 Day Night Dome, LXR, 480TVL 1 WhizKid (ExtremeCCTV Div) IR Dome Specialty Camera - Driveway 1 Sanyo Day Night 4594 520TVL 1 Extreme CCTV Large outdoor Housing (came in a kit) 2 Extreme CCTV UF500 IR LEDS (400+' IR) 1 Extreme CCTV Pole Mount 1 Extreme CCTV UF500 Dual 24VAC Power Supply Weatheproof Box General 1 Samsung 21" Color Monitor 1 TimeLapse VCR (not currently used, upgrading to DVR) 1 Channel Vision TV Modulator (to Cable TV Channel 72, watches on all 5 44 / 50" Plasma TVs, and Big Screen Movie TV, and staff's 13" TV) NOTE: The EX82s are the best overall Day Night camera i have seen, after testing many other solutions, from extremecctv's day night traditional camera, sanyo day night, Kalatel, and a range of bullet cameras. Even gives the best outdoor day time color picture I have seen from color cameras of many different brands. Unfortunately the 4-8mm varifocal lens is limiting, but still okay (wouldnt mind 3-16mm). They come with built in fan and heater option.

    Infrared system

Derwent in the UK, was a partner with Extreme to start with, they made the UF500 and other IR LEDs, then Derwent became a whole subsidiary of Extreme CCTV. There is Extreme CCTV UK and Derwent UK, then the main Company is in Canada, with an international depot in Barbados, for obvious reasons. Not sure about when it first came on the market, but was 2000 when it got the patent for it: http://www.extremecctv.com/press/index.cfm?press=14 I had it from 3-4 years now, and was out for a couple years before that at least.

    Infrared system

The Lifespan is the Bulb, Mine lasted 2 years on one of them, while the other lasted 3 years. Just 1 1/2 years later, I have to change the first bulb again. The filters dont go as far as I know. The UF500 Bulbs are approx $70-80 each, and you can buy them and store them for future replacements. The replacement parts there are just incase you want to change the type of filter or lens you have. Like if you ordered a 730nm and you decide you want a 940nm, or you have a 10 degree but want a 30 degree. Rory

    16 channel recommendation

Hi $2000 per DVR or total? If its total, then you would be in the PC Card range, for the specs you require. I have 2 PC Demos on my web site. the Iview DVR, and the Eclipse DVR. IView is a more powerful DVR with more features, including Pocket PC. Does multi site, Remote Triplex (Playback, Live, Multi Site all in one window) etc. Eclipse is a cheapo DVR, still has the stand alone features and simple to use. They are both in the same price range, Eclipse is a little cheaper, and they both have HTTP server for DDNS Browser Access, as well as Full Client Software. Iview lets you control the entire PC Remotely using a PCAnywhere Like software by them, and Eclipse just lets you change the DVR settings remotely. Basically as far as Remote Software goes, Iview is more powerful and has more features, though Eclipse is easier to use. The browser client from Eclipse looks better, though its a Pop up which in Updated IE can be a problem, the Iview is not as pretty though works good. Anyway, as for stand alones, its really either Nuvico or Hunt in the $2000 price range, if you just want a Budget 16channel the AvTech in the $800-900 range. In the higher end would be GE, Bosch, etc. $3000-5000. Rory

    Camera Wanted

ha haha ha ,, you guys are too much .. throw in an Extreme UF600 and that fox will be crisp!! LOL Yeah Ive had the same with 2.5mm fixed lenses before, 2.9mm isnt as bad. Focusing the 2.5 is a pain.
  16. Anyone have an IP so I can test this DVR's remote software out ..? Looking to buy one to test, and possibly resell if I like the network software. Thanks Rory

16 Channel DVR for Under $600

sorry i missed that one ..! Image quality is as good, and better than Everfocus. It is Multiplexed Wavelet and 4CIF. It is more than $600 less than the other 16ch low ends. For the average home or small retail, its all you need. In Multiplexed View I found some issues with color particles in my BW Images. Turning the color totoally off on the BW cameras helped, and also, this only happens when it first begins to record. Ofcourse this would mean in Motion Detection, not time lapse mode though. That said it is only on the display, not record. If you want to move up, goto the Hunt, it is a more mid range DVR, and better than most others in its price range. 8 channel would be in the range you are talking about. Stay away from the Provideo, HiSharp, and Everfocus. I cant speak for others in that range, at this time. Rory

    Bosch Divar2 Remote Demo?

Here is the Bosch Divar PDF: http://www.boschsecurity.us/pdf/EN/Divar%2D2%20Control%20Center%20Operation%20Manual%20English%2Epdf Here is the WebGate (same as the Hunt) http://www.webgateinc.com/wgi_htdocs/eng/dcenter/download.php?id=wgi_eng&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&category=45&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=108&filenum=1 You will notice that they all are basically called "Control Center", the software design with lists of DVRs on the right, its all the same, see the disk map on the Playback also. First here is the WebGates Partners List, doesnt mention Hunt, but its the same. WegGate eDVR Manager: Hunt DVRManager: Bosch Divar Control Center:

    Bosch Divar2 Remote Demo?

ill clarify that in a half hour or so, taking a trip the store .. But Hunt isnt using Bosch equipment, or vice versa, but WebGate, a manufacturer is the OEM for both of them, BUT, i dont know if that DVR you listed is being used by Bosch. Besides Bosch may have them totally customize it for them so it could be totally different. Software does resemble it alot.

    Along came a spider...

if its sealed wont need that. Vents will just let rain and dust get in and eventually the camera lens will get dirty, and the camera itself will die. Ive got these camera housings sealed tight here, in all the heat and rain now for a few years .. only thing needs cleaning is the outer glass. What type of housing is it? The cheap housings always let dust into them, so I only use the more expensive ones.

It uses an OSD to program it ? If so, check that out, or send me the manual if you can ..ill take a look .. thanks ROry

    Along came a spider...

If its inside, it shouldnt be, that means rain and dust will get inside. Make sure the housing is 100% sealed, even if you have to use Caulking. Rory

Actually the Sanyo was tripping out at first, but after I adjusted the switch over level (a few nights to get it right) it worked normally, a small flicker as it switches is all. The EX82s, I have them set to dark so they switch to BW as soon as it gets DIM, which means also in heavy clouds and rain, depends on the location, level of light coming into the photcell, etc. These use a Photo cell though, so switching is instant, its 2 seperate cameras also, but price is heavy.

    Along came a spider...

Inside the housing? Anyway, I use Baygon, spray it on the housing, you cant spray the glass, but that stuff will keep them away no matter what, as when they smell it they wont come anywhere near the housing. I dont know if you have baygon over there though? Its some deadly spray .. Baygon lasts at least 2 weeks, we use them on Alarm Motion Detectors in the food stores here (in the warehous sections away from open food), which like to normally atrack ****roaches and spiders for false alarms. 99.9% of their false alarms are from ****roaches, spiders, and huge rats!
