Dahua DH-0804-LE-AS and Seagate 200GB problem
rory replied to tux40's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I typically use WD drives and had no issues - 500GB blue drives, 1TB blue drives, and 2TB green and black drives. Dahua have a recommended hard drive list though in the DVR manual, so if its not on the list and it doesnt work, then I would suggest either one that others are using and works, or use one from the list. -
No HDMI would typically be the LE-AS http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=611&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262 In most cases that is the last firmware, there is no upgrade. But you would be best to ask the supplier, or check with Dahua. You may be able to update to 2.606.0024.0 Does it have any other name on it?

2-3 feet wont hurt it. Ive dropped cameras and lenses onto tile from 8 feet and they still worked fine. But the auto iris part is fragile, only if it bends or breaks up inside, which shouldnt happen unless you open it or the lens casing itself breaks.

no no lol .. he can send it to you for that if I fail to make it faster over teamviewer but you are right I wouldnt spend extra money on an old laptop hardware, best to get a new one they are cheap and fast now (anything but atom).
-
Example with hue lowered on a DVR's color setting. In this case its a Dahua DVR but should work the same with others. Camera on left is a cheap Color only bullet, has a fixed IR cut but colors are still a little off. Lowered the HUE to 30 Camera on right is a cheap Color IR bullet, HUE lowered to 20. Bottom left is closer to the real colors. Only testing this for green from shrubs and trees. ps. hey look, it was this or go outside and move some fallen trees...

I wouldnt even use it for headlights, doesnt seem like it can handle that any better than regular or no BLC. WDR is only for certain applications, like pointing it at a door from inside, but only if you need to see outside and inside clearly, and even then modern BLC tends to work for that scenario also and even better in some cases. And you are right, double scan WDR means less sensitivity, video can look like it is digitally enhanced, overall a waste of money IMO.

have you thought about going hybrid. $200 now and $1000 when the prices drop, or $2000 now?

Ok scrap that idea ... the yellow on the wall is turning pinkish now I should delete this thread and ban myself for being such an idiot

Okay, but be advised im not trying to push bullets over domes in this post, these are just some basic FYIs Domes cant be mounted everywhere, one example is my apartment. Yes I could wall mount it, but then Im drilling through a 3 foot wall right into the garage or bedroom at face height, i rather the bullet then the cable goes through the wood into the attic. Anyway, im not concerned about vandalism at my home, so if you are then you need a vandal dome, or mount a bullet up high. If you have an eave, then a dome makes sense - unless you want Infrared. In the case of the IR bullets versus an IR dome, the IR with bullets tend to be much greater than those found in domes. Additionally whenever you want to adjust the view of the dome, you have to take the cover off, and then you have to get the cover back on and at the same time make sure the rubber ring that stops the IR getting back into the camera is on properly and tight against the cover. You also may want easier adjustments - to adjust the direction of a dome, you need to open it up, that means if its raining or spraying watch out, just a drop can cause condensation that could take days to clear up. And although a turret style dome has external adjustment, its not always that simple. A bullet is much easier to adjust, but ofcourse that also makes it easier to vandalize. Cosmetics - at least in the case of a mini bullet as by KT&C, it is small, very small. We use these primarily in night clubs. As the housings are black and the camera is the size of my pinky (but a little bit thicker), it can be mounted almost anywhere in a night club and never be seen. However, in the case of the mini bullet, with its size comes a compromise - fixed lens with electronic IRIS, whereas the CNB-24VF dome for example has a varifocal lens and auto iris, typically making it handle varying lighting conditions better, plus it has other features the mini bullet does not such as more advanced Back Light Control - basically the VBM-24VF is a better image, as with most cameras with similar specs. Each application is different.
-
If you need a TDN bullet might also want to look at the Samsungs, they have them without IR as well and alot of features. KT&C also has a large line of IR bullets and other mini bullets, only used their mini bullets myself - the KT&C 550TVL mini color bullet is nice for a home also, once there is adequate lighting

No not correcting it, just making it look a little better. I dont know what it will do with other colors, may turn them greenish also, though looks ok in this case. That cheap color only camera is pretty old though, a new one probably produces better color. In fact I installed a new one the other night, just have to tie it in now.

dahua or qvis 16 channel dvr, anything else??
rory replied to marvelusmarvcus's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Ive had my 4 channel sitting here for a year now as well as a 16 channel at an alarm company, no issues to date. Other units have been in from end of last year still working perfect. -

I have one ... what do you want to know? I have some in the field also. Not under the name QVis but its the same thing. I agree with Sean though, I was buying Dahua DVRs under a different name from a Miami distributor for the past year, after checking the price on the QVis models ive since started getting those instead, cheaper and they come with HDDs installed - and they are the same Dahua DVRs. Lets put it this way, AvTech used to be the goto for a budget DVR - in other words it was cheaper than Avermedia, it was way cheaper than the big brands - it was sold everywhere, it was cheap and it did the job, it was featureless though and video quality kind of sucked, but we bought it and sold it and used it. Now come the Dahua, even their HD models are cheaper than the AvTech was, full of features, decent CMS software, good remote video quality, good live and recorded video quality, Multiple OS and Mobile phone support, lots of models to choose from including ones with support for 8x 2TB Hard drives, a 32 channel model, and also a Real Time D1 model. One thing I Particularly like is the ease of evidence sharing, back up to AVI that uses generic H.264 codecs (eg. Divx). Also simultaneous video output with VGA, HDMI and composite is nice. Additionally for slow internet connections we can use an extra stream at CIF instead to make the video faster, where with other DVRs I have used it can fail to load more than 4 cameras on a slow connection. For me I also like the fact that we can pretty much download all the software right from the manufacturer site, including an SDK. But ask some questions and we should be able to answer them. No, its not a big brand high end DVR and does not have advanced search features like Object tracking etc, but at the cost these work great for most applications. -
Well, power was off from 5am - 9pm in my area. 5am videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy2imGxmJ1E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrVA6w9u94I

Winds full force now out of the north ... too dangerous to go outside now. Power is on and off right now, flickering mostly from the wind and trees likely hitting the electric wires. Likely to be without power soon. Actually (now lets see if yall this bad) an hour ago I installed a color bullet to look at my carpark right next to the cheap color IR camera, had to stand on the 6' ladder with branches and god knows what else literally blowing over my head - winds had switched out of the east so was kind of safe .. but then when i got back in the appt after crawling around in the attic, i forgot that some time ago i had cut the wire i was using back above the hole by the DVR so would have had to go back up and push the wire back down. By then the winds and rain got too strong and switched back out of the north so couldnt go back outside. Camera got power though .. Video from 3am ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQD7uUXt388

Thats why I posted that long post, shows what else to do Still I say let me on teamviewer and I can deal with it for you if you like.
-
As long as its copper and not aluminum yeah it should work. Dont quote me on it though as I havent used that same cable.
-
I used my netbook when it went out earlier, and the UPS lasted as that and the cable modem and router dont drain much, had to make sure turn off the main computer, LCD monitor, and DVR though. Cable has a UPS in their box on the pole also. Its on right now though, had some serious gusts for a while though, didnt sound too good. Think I might need to check the attic and the wood on my window before it gets even worse.

I'm not defending or talking about the rioters by any means, those guys were simply idiots. When you're creating laws to fit your ideals and looking for any infractions against those laws, you're targeting the general population, including all us working stiffs who pay for all those freeloaders. Trust me, you wouldnt want to live in a lawless society.

my dvr is off ... no electric edit its back on, just alot of rain right now though. taking a breather and gotta get some wood up on the last window before it gets dark. charging up my cameras.
