well anything Mpeg 4 ... though wavelet is still great remote quality, it requires a faster connnection as it is larger files ... Mpeg4 is the best I have seen so far ...the Mpeg4 H.264 demo didnt impress me as much as they claim it is so great, didnt look any different, except for speed and maybe file size. For small size then yes it is the one. Course H.264 is the latest Mpeg 4 anyway .. right? Ofcourse on a budget all these compressions fly out the window .. looking at Mjpeg at that budget.. Rory

Depends on the Box Camera ... Exview no matter if it is box or bullet will go grainy in low light. But you can get away with a BW Bullet as the camera doesnt have to do much at all ... and no housing needed so the price is much lower. Just Stay away from the exview ones, look at maybe a Dome instead in High Res, like the WizKid WZ30. Im getting one of them to test for a night club here, and they are not expensive. Samsung Techwin has VERY good pricing on an Exview Day Night. PM me or Herming, as hermin has actually used it. To get licence plates, only if you zoom the camera in on the plate area and turn on BLC, or use a wide dynamic camera, they arent cheap though. Pano has a Wide Dynamic Day Night, or Samsung Techwin also, good prices. Then slow down shutter speed some. All my Kalatel DVRs in the field are in High Res recording, and I can view them no matter what. But way over the budget! Id definately use a 14 or 15" Color CCTV Tube Monitor though, if using a high res cam and need to see licence plates, faces, etc. LCDs are just too pixelised with BNC. Sounds like you have a task at hand, picking cameras that will work properly, in that clients budget range.

Their GUI also sucks though ...if you want stability then a "good" RTOS embedded is the only choice.

Nope wont fit jn that case I liked - Card is bigger than a video card. Plugging it in my PC now actually to test out - the Iview - Fred PM me, I tested the 4 channels and that Avtech 16 channel .. Rory

Anyone play with one of these B/W HiRes/Low Lux bullets?
rory replied to bryan1656's topic in Security Cameras
To Start with, ignore the lux settings .. its just something to make the client buy .. If there is no light there is no usable picture There are several different qualities of Exview CCD's. They come in different resolutions and low light sensitivities. It is also a function of the camera electronics behind the CCD to make a pleasing picture. So depending on how much you pay for it, who makes it, will depend on how good the actual quality of the video will be .. in other words, the electronics in a Bullet camera do not quite match a Pro Camera, but nowadays they can come pretty darn close. If you pay $80 for an exview bullet, dont expect it to perform like the $150 exview bullet though .. Who makes it and how much is it? You can pm with price if you like. Rory -
Stand alones come in RTOS or PC. They can do all that, if you buy the right ones. EG. GE, Bosch, Iview, and many more. Sounds like you may have an Intellicam DVR (?) if so they are the ultimate in low end DVRs, so cant expect the same features. Anyway, since you are technical then yep check out a PC card. Im testing one tonight and will post reviews - iView 120pps. Rory

if you mean someone coming through the door, unless you use a box camera with back lighting feature, or a wide dynamic camera, you may/may not see their face due to the backlight from the entrance and the light outside.. nightime wont matter .. you could also angle it somehow to not look at the door but still get their face. Its Enforcer Secularm Baluns .. it is approx 150' away ... the other cameras are not bad like this though, I dont really have much extra pairs going back, but ill check this camera, as I know I do have a couple extra ones, ill check it tomorrow in the day and make sure locally it is fine .. i didnt have a color monitor when i installed it, looked fine on the BW .. wil take the color down tomorow and let you know what i do and how it turns out .. The wire just pushes into the slots in the balun, then locks. thanks Rory

Any ideas why the B2 Camera is not as good ..it is the same exact dome camera, and it is brand new as the previous one was even worse ... any ideas ..i am using Cat5 with Baluns .. all the other cameras with baluns are okay, they are brighter at the DVR side but still a good image. This one is just overall not good .. night time is even worse. They are powered locally, distance is only around 150' for video to the DVR. I have it sharing one of the outputs on the Altronix 4 channel 24VAC supply, which is 4A total, so that should not be an issue. It is getting 28.. VAC, it can handle up to 30VAC, same as the other cameras. Do you think it may just not like the Balun?? The other cameras are GE Box Cameras. B1 Camera B2 Camera

keep pushing the 1st world on me guys!! Arghhhh
-
actually, i tried the Cat5 without baluns, just video, and it wont work, just alot of lines, can see the video, but ... and with just 1 balun, stll a few lines ..better but not great. With a balun, much less quality than same distance with Coax. I just ran 800+ feet of coax and was much clearer than a balun on cat5 at 150'. However with active tx and Rx with cat5 . .perfect video Rory

yep, im getting an Iview card tomorrow hopefully, will measure it and see if it cant fit in that smaller case ..
-
By the way, who installs all this for you guys, I mean are you locksmiths also, or do you not need to touch the actual locks??
-
Just that im blind enough as it is ...! I cant afford to get any blinder ..

I dont know guys, are there any results on harmful effects of any of this ..eye scan, finger scan, etc ..? I think the eye thing, I would personally not want to put MY eye in it .. Personally I would (for myself now) use finger over hand .. But another problem arises. What if I want a friend to goto my appartment, and grab something .. he cant get in, unless he has "my finger" ..??? Thats why I still prefer a card ... or at least both.. and a keypad .. Rory

#1 - Try a Different Lens. #2 - Adjust the Iris Pot on the Lens #3 - Make Sure you are looking at this direct at the Camera, not through a DVR or any distance. #4 - BLC on = Brighter - generally it should be set to OFF, but if you are having issues, try it ON. #5 - WHAT OTHER settings does the camera have? Can you send a link or image of the settings on the camera? There are other settings as well, that can cause it to be dark like that. Rory

for lilin you will need the lilin DVR no??

ATI video card with TV in .. cheap even over here .. like $40.

how is he powering a CCTV camera with an S-Video Cable ..its not possible ... at least not with the connector on the end of it. Otherwise surely you can splice the existing cable ..use the free wire for positive, ground for the camera from ground for the power, OR just plug it in locally with a transformer.

too big for me ...

i like this one, wonder if a PCI card could fit in it ..? http://www.directron.com/dm317.html

Yeah the Home theatre companies have them, using RCA though. Dont know any specs or how good they work though,

This is a quick clip I took of the CVC-637EX over the internet ... Nice clear High res Color with no infrared pick up (fixed IR cut Filter), and switches to BW in dim lighting also ... I am totally impressed and Im used to using Traditional (box) Exview Cameras .. Provideo has a Dome in the same camera, but its not wall mounted so im going to try the wall mounted Exview Dome they do sell and see what its like ... ive used GE and Phillips, Extreme CCTV, and others in that or more than that price range in domes ...they dont compare to this image I am getting ... Provideo Support is great also .. Like Ron said, they buy OEM, though the HEAT line I cant find at any manufacturer anywhere in Asia, so they must have that product bought out ..

Actually you can run Power and Video on the same Cat5 cable ..i just did it ..
