Bulk is the keyword, they buy in bulk Good business minds too, to get that bulk out the door ..! They have been around a long time now . .. so they are doing something right ... there are alot of non CCTV guys even that hear about them, down here in the bahamas, and sell their products on the side. I dont think you can buy a camera anywhere cheaper!? Yep, how do they do it for real ..i guess they must sell alot of them to make it worth the low markup..

we buy some of the bullet & dome cameras from cctvco, we are in nassau, bahamas ... Sure Video/Alarm Systems.. in fact waiting for the nubix to come back in as we missed the initial sale ... any word on the 16 channel release? (i know the asian manufacturer but they only answer in asian ! )

i wish i had your job dude! i dont get to look at, or test anything until i pay triple for it, time as it lands here and we pay customs duty! Or i get a client to go out on a limb and buy it ... thats how its been most of the time ... well i sell them it at landed cost price .. so they save anyway ..

Not yet, im trying to get some cameras as demos for free before i spend the cash! I will see what happens. I know what you mean, there is alot of false advertising these days. If I have to spend, I will probably test the best Box camera they have (SHC-721A or SDN-520) and the best Fixed Dome (SVD-4120a), cant afford the PTZ ... i have a Panasonic WD Day Night here to test actually, well the client still has it, he hasnt run the wire yet - i think its the 474. He also has the GE Exview Day Night as well, i told him get 2 of the panos but the distributor only had 1 so sold him the GE Day Night instead. I still have his old Toshiba Day Night actually, havent hooked it up yet to test it! Im scared to .... Hermin on this forum just bought a couple of their Day Night Exview cameras for a job, the SDN-520, so i guess we will find out soon enough ..

If Sanyo didnt keep discontinuing their cameras so much, they'd be a great line to use also see I can only sell 1 line of cameras, or at least, 1 camera for each application ... in my current situation ..

any experience with Samsung Techwin? Their cameras have some amazing specs .. i know, that doesnt mean they are that, just curious? Not sure how support is yet as I think they are new to the US? Panasonic, do you think that $800 1/2" camera is really worth it!! Just looks like a wide dynamic exview camera ... anyway, reps arent doing that great a job as they arent down here promoting it, only Samsung was here recently, well, and even them, the rep was here to promote the General Solution DVRs not samsung! Everyone down here (plumbers, AC guys, Xerox) is selling ECLIPSE products (eclipsecctv.com) and they think that it is better than panasonic or any other! Hey I know we are a small country, but figure since we have a higher crime rate per population than the USA yah think they may be interested a little bit ?? So you are just looking for Black and White Infrared Compatible Cameras? These have Spectal reponses up in the 900+ range so they will work wih invisible Infrared Lighting: I have used the Sanyo with Extreme's IR before: Sanyo VCB-3574IR - Over 930nm Spectral Range http://www.sanyo.com/industrial/security/cameras/special/index.cfm?productID=148 GE KTC-540E - 730-1100nm Spectral Range http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/ktc_540E_prd.pdf AS for Lenses, I prefer Fujinon, but Computar or even Tamron will suffice. Look for IR lenses if you are using just a BW camera. If its a day night you can use either a day night or just a low F:stop lens. The sanyo i used was as simple tamron low f: stop lens, nothing special. Watch those dead cheap lenses though, image quality in Infrared could be even more deteriated with a cheap lens. I cant find that Bosch camera online, all my search comes up with is in spanish! If you can post a link ill check the IR response, or if you know it post it here .. The pano doesnt say any IR response so id imagine it will only work in the 800nm range not the 900nm range. Rory

just got back to the PC.. well id stay clear of Toshiba. AS for Sanyo, great cams also, but for Infrared forget anything to do with Wide Dynamic from any brand. They arent ready yet. Exview Day Night or if the camera sais what spectral response it is .. not many cams can do over 850nm .. im checking on those cams you posted now..

Anyone used this yet .. from GE Kalatel, is it a 4 channel or 1 channel? None of my distributors can say for sure and the specs are confusing as they say 4 then they say 1 channel? Anyone know if it uses wavereader also? thanks rory

Yeah, I went through the IR dome phase, got out of it quick when I realised (and the manufacturer will also tell you this) that you can get glare from the IRs in the dome. The ones I had i just disabled the IR to get a good picture. Anyway, just so you know the wizkid IRs only do around 20-30 feet. Extreme's IRs do much more ... hence the difference in price. The WZ12's are nice though, i used on on a job here, plug and play, 12VDC. It was a front door so didnt need to see far anyway, What camera are you using with them? With the 940nm you have to make sure the camera has the spectral resonse for that. Most will see 850nm, but not all work over 850.. Also, just so you know, WizKid is their "economy" division, they dont have anything like wide dynamic or true day night. Extreme has LRX which works similar to Wide Dynamic where it gets rid of that extra glare in the image, and you can see peoples faces, but the LRX models are not cheap. Now they have something new also, called MX4 Technology. havent tested that yet as it is very new. Rory

Cant get this to work, i have an AMD 2400 ..any ideas? Its an EDV-S4, and I have downloaded Digivue it worked the first time i installed the card, but didnt see the camera, then when i restarted again the PC hasnt seen the DVR card since ... thanks, it was a freebe from a client so its not a big deal but its just sitting here wasting space .. rory

yep, here we have 2 types of people, dead cheap or dead rich! So im going dead cheap and dead expensive on the DVRs ... cant afford to carry it all .. ive tried the dead cheap cameras and no extra work so im back to mid range and high end on them ..

yeah but now i need the extra money so im geting some PCs in and will wait for the client to crash them nah, getting them in for people that want real time and can use a dedicated PC, and ofcourse tech people also .. others ill jus throw them a cheap standalone .. or the expensive one .. XP SP2 is much better now than the previous XP so once i strip them down like i have done mine, they should be ok.

we dont have the luxury of reps down here in the Bahamas ..the only one i have seen so far is the Samsung Techwin rep just a month ago .. everyone else has forgotten us
