Need Professional Subcontracted Installations
rory replied to PBryant's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi, Nassau Bahamas Here, I have PMed you. Rory -
Whats your budget per camera? Do you want color in the day and black and white at night, do you need infrared, ie. is it pitch dark or is there some light at night? Any areas that require ID such as faces or licence plates? Rory
-
Dont see HOW they can do that, the camera is a physical part and nothing to do with the DVR. But yes, you can simply attach an alarm contact and tie that into the alarm input on the DVR, then program it to send an email on alarms. Or you could use a shock sensor depending how big the camera is. NOW, you can also have it send an email on Video Loss, which can happen if a camera is moved
-
Make sure the TV side is plugged into the TV's AV input, which is normally RCA or SVideo, not coaxial. The VCR will for sure also require an RCA adaptor.

Twist on coax connector with a BNC adaptor?

In addition to what the others said, also, if it is using an Auto Iris Lens, make sure it is not in AES mode ..cause you could be getting a black screen ...? And if it is a DC Lens make sure it is not set on VIDEO on the camera, change it to DD for Auto iris, or AES for Manual Iris Lens. First thing I would check is the power, then the connections ... Make sure the camera is getting the correct voltage on the cameras power terminals.

Never heard of that, but, with most DVRs, you can set the record mode to motion recording, so essesntially when the camera is moved it picks up motion. In the alarm settings you can set the DVR to send an email on motion, but be warned, this can cause alot of unwanted emails!

Very User UN-Friendly - For the higher cost than GE and Phillips in the USA, I would rethink it, as its not worth it. Rory

guys our local cable internet company has fiber (or somthing real big an $$$$$) run from the USA to the Bahamas, in the ocean .... dont know what it is ..anyone ? Company is called caribbean crossings .. may want to do a search and see what they use, or contact a cable internet/tv company .. Edit - here is the info on what they use:: http://www.caribbeancrossings.com/ The System The (BICS) system consist of over 1,000 km of high performance submarine fiber cable and another 600 km of terrestrial cable strategically placed to form a highly reliable integrated optical Network connecting the United States and the World to the Bahamas. This passive long reach state of the art Optical Network does not utilize any active submarine components requiring remote power thus ensuring a very high performance reliable digital lightwave system. These integrated technologies enable Caribbean Crossings to troubleshoot and manage the Network remotely from our Network Operations Center in Nassau, ensuring reliability, performance and commitment to Customer Service Level Agreements (SLA). Flexible Platform The Integration of the BICS all Optical Network and the Service intelligent Terminal equipment, creates architecture to deliver industry-leading network-based and premises-based solutions for such services as Frame Relay, ATM, TDM, SONET, Ethernet and IP. This Architecture allows conversion from the North American Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) to the European Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) for interoperability and connection with other International Carriers that serve the Caribbean. Seamless Integration The installed network multi-service provisioning platforms enable integrating the aggregation and transport functions from separate network elements into an integrated network system providing internetworking solutions. These unified solutions are also designed to blend multi types of traffic that are prioritized and enabled for quality of service (QoS) across common optical facilities. DWDM The BICS all Optical system is currently designed for DWDM for up to 80 wave lengths now and 160 in the future yielding digital bandwidths capacity of up to 12 Terabits per second and beyond. Protection The Caribbean Crossings BICS fibre-optic subsea network has route diversity and is self healing with less than 50 millisecond switching functionality.

Geez, you guys actually have a choice of broadband ISPs! We have one DSL ISP (non ADSL) and one Cable ISP, and they are both monopolies.

hmmm, i have a dome i was going to send back, that used to be working great, until we moved it, its a varifocal auto iris, did everything but it would not focus right, though seems more like the iris is shot. Ill open it up one last time before I send it back to check this thing out, just in case ...thanks rory

Need Some Help Selecting DVR card
rory replied to Ghazi's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
8 channel stand alone of high quality will cost too much for that budget, check herm on the i-view. If you dont want to use a PC also he has some low end 16 channel DVRs, which will give you room for add ons. As for cameras, like herm said, low risk areas, or areas that dont require ID, then any cheap cam will work, depends on your taste, but since $3000 is your budget your left with the cheaper camera at least in the low risk areas. Look at what areas are high risk, low risk, and areas (such as a front door) that may require face ID. There are different cameras for different applications. Rory -
Can't load Activex control for webcam on a geovision.
rory replied to a94cobra's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
If you are in Internet Explorer, did you click on the yellow tab at the top of the browser window, it allows you to install the active X, by default it will not install active X, new security in SP2 and IE. If you did and it still didnt install, also check the security settings in TOOLS, OPTIONS, SECURITY Under ACTIVEX - make sure anything there that is disabled, is then checked for PROMPT (not enabled!!) ONLY FOR ACTIVEX. APPLY and reload and see what happens. GEO has worked on my SP2 just last night, darn thing needs to install a million things, but yah know. It worked once they were installed. Look at particularly the area there that sais: DOWNLOAD UNSIGNED ACTIVEX CONTROLS - Make it prompt Cant remember if I had to enable those to promt or not, perhaps not .. who knows ..too many buds! Anyway, they are all default right now, so maybe not, anyway, email / PM me a link to test out and Ill let you know if it works. There could be something else that is causing it not to install also, like nortons security or something else.. Rory -
herm PM me a price on the 16 channel XP system, 480pps Recording ..i got a client that may be interested .. or at least I need a price to work with ..thanks Rory

I dont quite know, but im going to take a guess on this as Ive never seen the specs of a TIVO nore used one yet Do they record on motion detection? If you are going to use a RF Mod, then the quality will be nowhere near a CCTV DVR, barely a VCR at that, especially from a quad. Or can you plug into the RCA input, or SVideo input? Still it will only be in quad mode ... so not a real multiplexer, no real full screen recording. No remote video? im not going to quote prices exact but for under $400 you get a non lan 4 channel DVR quad, or 9 channel DVR mux, retail or wholesale.

send me a tivo .. he he he ..

well the Dlink is still working here... basically just threw those 2 brand new linksys in the bloody trash!

Anyone know anything about Anykeeper?
rory replied to MattVidionics's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
had the same issue with a dedicated micros DVR the other day, when you do a file import from a start time to an end time it doesnt actually show you if its saving, but its doing it in the background .. weird..! You dont know if its ended unless you try to open the file .. -
same here, a stabbing murder on camera at a local nightclub, owner was away i was out drinking at 4am one friday night, got called on my cell and had to shoot down to the night club (from another nightclub!) to play the video for the police. SPent the next afternoon downloading a couple hours of video (over the internet) from 13 cameras then burning them all to CD and dropped off to the police that evening. Owner was away and door was locked up to the office so had to do it all over the internet ... Was never used in court in the end, but was used to apprehend the individual, police and laws down here are different anyway, police say you do it, you did it! Though the judge saw it not in court, and said they couldnt prove it was the same guy, even though it was plain and clear, but most of our judges down here are dummies anyway .. rory

Update: the DLink I installed last night has been working without any issues so far, and is even the full bandwidth now. SO looks like I have to switch if thats the way the linksys are going to be from now on .. Rory
