no generator here, i rent. if indeed we get over 70mph winds then trees could be down all over my place and the street will likely be blocked for a week or so also. Last storm like that had no power for 2 weeks. Right now im actually without a phone since a small storm last week took it out - so imagine a big one. Theyre talking 100-130mph sustained winds by the time it hits, meaning much stronger gusts. Its been decades since I saw a real hurricane like that, even Andrew just barely hit us on this island. The projected path still has it moving further away from us, but its still going in the same direction. It should have hit the turks and caicas by now, should be hitting the southern most bahamas islands now, 100mph sustained winds, that means gusts up to 115mph or so. Well hopefully it will kill all the mosquitos, we have a dengue fever epidemic right now! Oh and it just started to poor with rain and blow alot of wind ... signs of things to come?

Test of an Effio-E Camera vs Sony HAD vs Sony Super HAD

Can i get one to test? -
Sometimes a cheaper way to do it is find an old or used color IR camera but one with a ton of IR, and just use the IR from it. This video shows an IR Bullet using other cheap or used IR cameras for additional infrared. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0hv1T_RIo4

Looking at the green on the grass though, seems to be somewhat washed out, which is typical of a camera without an IR cut filter. Any chance of spinning it more out on the lawn when the sun is out to get a better idea, as its off to the edge so hard to really tell. Or maybe thats the color of the grass there -
The VCM-24VF is the same as the VBM-24VF but it has a larger base for connections. Might also want to look at that model.

3.6mm Color IR bullet compared to a CNB Monalisa VBM-24VF @ 2.8/3mm Shows how wide they can be. Compare the top right camera, Color IR first, then CNB.

Its an old 2nd hand Eclipse CCTV 598HIM TDN IR Bullet Camera, with the built in IR removed - it was on its way to the trash mostly due to a damaged and corroded bracket, rigged it so it would mount but cant really adjust it now - honestly it was never a great IR Bullet, but as a TDN it works good (colors kind of on the way out now though). I was given an old 2nd hand Extreme CCTV EX26LED which no doubt works just fine, really sweet dual voltage IR with power settings and waterproof ($$$ though) - both running off a 2A 12VDC plug in power supply which also powers the other 3 cameras.

CNB Monalisa True Day Night Camera is Top Right. Bottom Left is an old TDN Bullet with External IR. TDN Bullet with External IR

That looks good too, what "brands" should I be looking for? QVis is one of them. Id recommend them because one of the forum partners sells them and knows the products well.
-
They typically dont sell those in the US. The most common full D1 model is the HE-T with 704x480 @ 30 fps each channel. Can hold up to 8 Hard Drives. Dahua is sold under other names in the US.
-
Dahua has a real time D1 DVR. But the activeX part, if using the browser it would be activeX, otherwise they have Desktop software for Windows, Mac, and Linux - which is always better than a browser app anyway.

LOL yeah if its still heading in this direction by tomorrow night, im gonna have to pack up move into a hotel or something .. my yard is like a jungle other than the beach area, so likely there will be tons of trees down, including on my roof!

Been about 4 or 5 years now with my Linksys WRT54G This was the ones before they stopped making them with antennas. BTW you could write an app or script that would open a webpage, login, and reboot the router.

Centre-pin type star bits. Not sure of the size though, its one of the thinner ones. Maybe look for a security bit set
-
Guess they will just have to spit on the road then
-
All that is useless if the cops cant take control as we saw in the Riots. Give them guns so they can clean up.
-
BTW this is 800x400 and also has a swivel screen - after using the swivel screen its hard to go back to something without that. Also its cheap. http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=430&pcat_id=1003 This is what I had http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=440&pcat_id=1003

I just used the Haier brand 7" LCD TV, not sure if that is the same model but the one I used was very high quality material, however the video picture was much worse than the cheap Coby I have, it had big blocks of pixels where the edges should be. It was totally useless for focusing at all. And trying to use it on top of a ladder without a swivel screen was like pulling teeth.

I need something for a big concrete home, can be mounted up on the roof in the center but needs to go maybe 100' and through at least 1 or 2 concrete walls ... any ideas? Has be something that can be picked up from Comp USA. The client wants to just walk around the house without reconnecting to different wireless networks as with routers etc. If possible maybe something that additional access points can be added to for extra coverage if needed but still be under the same connection name? Thanks
-
I dont know about the power switcher but you can connect a switch to the router for extra ports for DVRs, PCs, etc.
-
one thing to note with the VGA converters is one tends to loose alot of quality, especially with the cheaper ones.
