Reccomendations on Video Monitoring for Alarm Mon Co
rory replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ExtremeCCTV also uses solar power, but I think it may just be for the EX82 series. You may want to take a look at them though. They also have IP cameras. -
they can be outputed to monitors, quads, switchers, or other multiplexers, and more recently, video servers. For example, i have a 16 camera system, it has a 16 channel DVR, 8 cameras are outdoors, the other 8 are hidden cameras, with audio. There is also a 9 channel multiplexer. Monitor has A and B inputs. I made the 8 outdoor cameras normal, and on Monitor A input, so this is always on. The other 8 are also recording but are configured as covert so you dont see them on the DVR monitor output. Then there is a 9 channel multiplexer. The 8 covert cameras loop to this mux, then the monitor output for this goes to monitor B input. I also have audio into Audio B input. So when the user wants to see the covert cameras, they switch to Monitor B Input, and they also have audio on that input.

Reccomendations on Video Monitoring for Alarm Mon Co

why not just a good Day Night 25X PTZ from any of the major manufacturers, and use a 1 channel video server?? Then as it switches to BW at night, you can also use ExtremeCCTV IR Bulbs like the UF500's for pitch dark apps. Slow shudder speeds are normaly useless, as then the image is slow, and, its still doesnt compete with the exview chip. All the zoom cameras allow that adjustment, I have used the Samsung Day Night zoom also and it was crap. Pano, GE, and Sanyo, great day nights, testing a Toshiba tonight. -
its ok, except i wouldnt sell the network part of it! but no, doesnt compare to DM.

ok, 3rd time ive used 12vDC cameras inside a retail store, always been 24VAC. Anyway, terrible glare once again, and color changes levels, on a cheap Dome, but also on a 12VDC hook up for a $400 pro camera (glare is not an issue on the $400 camera just the other problem). So im going to switch them all to 24VAC, but question is, what do other people use where they have 12VDC cameras in a retail store with florsecent lights, its always been terrible video in both cases for me. Only reason I got the 12VDC was client had a couple cameras already that were 12VDC. I have used BW in 12VDC and other 12V Coor outdoors, before but never in a retail store with florescent lighting.

ok, heads up, i changed the Computar lens, for a GE Kalatel Lens, and the problem went away totally, at 12VDC! Anyway, I gots myself a Computar lens now, he he! Yeah, I know, Computar being a bad azz lens, but anwyay, lesson learned ...... buy a wide dynamic or camera with special lighting, get the same lens from the same manufactuter. Thanks to MetzLyov for the heads up on the lens issue, i may have just had a different computar lens,

which compression is best mpeg1 or mpeg 4 for remote viewing
rory replied to dvrsnoop's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yeah I 2nd that, you need over 256 kps to get a decent speed, ours is 384 kps and up here anywayz. 128kps is just too slow for it, which is what DSL is over here as its not ADSL. Rory -

not alot using it, but GE Interlogix is, and so are some other big names, which are bigger sellers than most of the others, though in their latest 1 channel DVR they have switched to MPEG4, so perhaps they are moving over to that now. -

what about the differences between those and Wavelet? Except for Wavelet being larger files. -
thanks Dave Yes, a minimal VB Service Pack is just something required for the activeX to run, it downloads from Microsoft so it gets the most updated one for your OS. Thanks again, Ill be adding new features to it in the new year (this year) after I complete some other web sites first. Rory

As some here know, I use to (still do on lower CPUs - under 1500mhz) live by Windows ME, but due to hardware issues on my PC I have been struggling with windows ME over the past months, thinking it was hardware issues, let alone windows XP Pro which was 100% slower. But since yesterday I upgraded to Windows XP PRo, then Upgraded to SP2 and Nortons Upgrade, etc, is so much faster and stable, seems they really worked out the problems they had with previous versions of windows, finally, inlcuding the XP pro issues. Ofcourse I have also disabled alot of running services that I never use, so that speeds it up alot, though im still running the Web Server with IIS and its running smooth. Dont know how this relates to DVR Cards as I dont use them currently, just wanted to share some feedback on this. So you know where Im coming from, its a 2.2Ghz Celleron, 128MB Shared Memory with Video, so thats why I was using Windows ME. XP Home & Pro I have used before just slowed it down so much. The upgrade to XP PRo and SP2, is much faster, even as fast as Windows ME, though more stable. No hardware problems as I was getting before. Perhaps the moboard drivers are better suited for this version of XP? Yes I know I need more memory and a seperate Video Card, but for now ... Anyway, Nortons is totally updated, Windows FireWall is on, and GRC Shields Up doesnt see any open ports, unless I unckeck use Exceptions in the firewall for the HTTP server. My router is shot so until I get a new one at $145 im left with this for now, rather spend the cash on the video card and memory for now. Im using Firefox Browser, its a little slower than Internet Explorer, when switching between programs, but when you are in it totally, opening new windows and browsing are very fast. Memory & Video card will probably change this. I tried the Thunderbird Email from Mozilla also, but it is much slower than Outlook Express so Im going back to OE, for now, Ill try again when I get more memory and the video card. Thunderbird has some good Junk Mail features though as it learns as you apply something as junk mail. It works with multiple email accounts also. One problem I have seen is that I have been getting alerts that there are 1 or 2 emails, etc,, but then nothing appears anywhere, so thats one thing I need to look into. Okay so Ive also turned off a lot of services, including the messenger service for starters, and MSN messenger, which is a little harder to get rid of. I dont use MSN. Also Wireless Zero, Clipbook, Alerter, Remote Desktop, etc, and well many others I wont get into here. Im running Spybot Immunisation and the Windows Firewall, Nortons Updated, and probably going to install Zone Alarm just for kicks and SpyHunter for Startup. Also in MS config nothing is on start up besides Norton Related products. Theme is windows Classic, all effects are turned off, Performance is set to high in System, Advanced, Performance. System restore is off, Remote Assistance is off, Auto Updates are off for everything. Task Schedular is disabled in services. Screen Saver is off. Outlook express Download Preview email is disabled, set to high security. Any other tips .. would be appreciated. Im keeping Internet Explorer just so I can use it to test my ActiveX controls with. Thanks rory

nah, still doing it at night with all the florescent lights on, 12VDC, in 24VAC it doesnt, but then I get interference, but that could be the old plug im using, as I ran the wire myself and its nowhere near electric or lighting, put it back to 12VDC, Ill change the lens to a fujinon and see if it matters, as thats what i used with the last Ultraview without any problems, plus its at 2.8mm width so we'll be zooming it right about 6-8mm on the door once the other couple cameras come in on Monday/Tuesday. I ran Cat5 but waiting on the router power cable so tomorrow hopefully ill be able to get a video clip of it.

Yeah, happy new year to all! I guess the guys in the UK are pretty wasted around this time! )

Yes, all of their DVRs do Point of Sale, except the EZ versions. They require an add on module however called ProBridge. Rory

Tell me about it! Now he doesnt want to pay for Cable Internet at the business as it costs triple what he pays at home ($150 per month basic cable 512kb). So I need to get wireless network from his home to the business, that should be fun! I know a couple guys here that do wireless networking on a large scale, one has their own wireless ISP, which evidentaly uses the Cable ISP's backbone anyway, and they are not cheap, other way is a basic wireless router with a large antenna up high on either end, he is only 2 miles from his business to his house...anyway, thats going to be someone elses headache! have you tried the different AV inputs? Like Video 1, video 2, etc, On the TV it should have that, also on the remote. Some TVs will say AV, some will say Video. If you have more than one Yellow (video) input on the TV, try another and go through them. Sometimes they have them on the back, side, and front. Another thing, is the camera wireless or hardwired? Sounds like you have a wireless receiver? You might want to plug the camera direct into the TV's video input first, if it is a hard wired camera. Otherwise you need to make sure both the camera and receiver are on the same channel, if it is wireless and has multiple channels like a 4 channel reciever. Also, if it is wireless, you can try powering down the camera first and powering back up, then powering down the reciever and powering back up, and see if it comes through then. Also ... if it is wireless, it could be something blocking the signal. If you know the model of the camera kit, and TV, give us the name or link to a website. Also distance from Receiver to camera. rory
