    divar dvr by bosch phillips

yeah but from what i saw on their site the stand alones are windows 2000? Oh just saw the Divar with a DVD, not bad, will check out specs, its a new DVR though, company is still fairly new in the DVR industry. but good specs. Actually specs of the Divar as the same as the StoreSafe, seems embedded, pretty much, except it has a DVD, same monitor outputs, image size and compression types. Wonder what the network software is like, and the price ..? I dont know why Kalatel, Bosch, etc, dont put a USB flash port in their DVRs now ..? with 4GB Flash out now .. I just like it so much better than a CD/DVD. Rory

  5. "The Digital COP Speed Dome Camera is the integration of digital camera, lens, multi-protocol receiver, variable high-speed pan/tilt and dome enclosure. A complete speed dome is composed of a dome housing, a clear ( smoke available ) acrylic lower dome (bubble) and a dome drive with a built-in camera and lens. The system is noted for its high acceleration rate and smooth, steady motion with flexible presets, auto programming and easy setup. We have the Best prices anywhere for these high quality cameras! Starting at $1299 with dealer and quanity pricing much lower !" ... I can get a Kalatel CyberDome for that Price! I mean they are simply OEM, no problem with selling that stuff, but dont lie to the customers! Give them an option, Tell them the differences. They may WANT some really higher quality products. Anyway, at least they have Altronix Power Supplies.

Nowadays yes, not much more $$, but just fyi, before these Day/Night lenses were available around 3 years back (maybe they were but were not everywhere then) i used a Sanyo High Res Day Night, normal auto iris tamron lens, and its great Probably depends on the quality of the camera and its IR response also. Rory
  7. only small DVR I have used is the DSR-1000e from GE, its a single channel with LAN. Its pretty small, not micro though like those really small ones. Rory
  8. Hi they dont actually have an SDK, its just an ActiveX Control and you have to basically figure out the rest on your own, took me a while! I got it from them long before GE bought out Kalatel. There is no support for it also. But you can do quite a bit with it considering the limitations. If you want, download my software on my site and PM me for an IP to test to see what you can do with it, there is also more that can be done but I just never got around to writing it in. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/download.asp Works on 98, ME, and XP (and SP2) (also 2000 supposedly) rory

Okay, well see some examples of High End Infrared here to give you an idea of what it should look like. Its actually clearer on the monitor, this is compressed images captured over the internet. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/portfolio.asp The cameras at the bottom is the ExtremeCCTV EX-45 dome with LRX, costs around $700! The 40' LED is around $100. They have 164' LEDs for $350, and go up as high as 2400' Bulbs. Panasonic Has a Day Night Wide Dynamic Dome, not too discreet though, but supposed to be a really good camera. GE has an Exview Day Night Dome with a Spectral response of 750-1100nm. Sanyo also has a good Day Night I have used it but not in an IR situation, though Im sure it will perform as I have used other day night Sanyos for IR situations and it was great quality, just wansnt a dome. Panasonic and Sanyo do not say what their Spectral response is, though I have used the Traditional Camera Version of the Sanyp Dome for IR and that is on my portfoio page. I have also used the Sanyo and it is a good Dome with good day and good BW images. Pano I have not tested yet, but it is supposed to be a very good camera, Im actually installing the tradiotional camera version of that next week for a Gas Station. Most BW and True Day Night cameras will work good with Infrared, at least up to 850nm. Bullet cameras though I have used with IR were not impressive as far as quality goes. Also, not all Infrared Lights are the same, what brand is it? I used some cheap spots before that claimed 100' but didnt come close and quality was shabby. I then upgraded to Extreme CCTV Infrared products and it worked great ($$$ though) Rory

it really depends on the camera. What type of camera do you want to use: Bullet, Professional, Etc.? Whats the budget? Day Night with an IR Cut Filter will give you a better day time image. The spectral range of the camera determines how well it picks up Infrared Lighting. Most cameras that have good spectral ranges will say what they are in their data sheets. Also, what type of IR Lighting did you buy? Rory

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

thats still $7200? I dont know enough about Fiber so I cant speak of it, I know it is the best though. But would different Fiber products differ in quality, such as different cameras do? Rory

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

Looking over the recent pricing from GE on their Fiber products, actually its not that expensive, but i wouldnt know where to start with what to get, and like you said, install it! Are there special tools involved? EDIT: Actually read further and found the 16 channel video, ouch, $6,000 for the TX and another $6,000 for the RX, but then thats GE! Rory

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

NVT Amplified are really good products. Its the only one I sell right now, there are a couple others also. Remember this is not Passive, or just simple Baluns, its all amplified video, with ground isolators & interference rejection. If you can afford Fiber, or more importantly know how to install in, then that would be the best choice. Rory
  16. all within time Trying to get the cameras off the ground first, then Ill have more time to spend on moving over to .NET. .. I actually think I can connect to the cameras using a COM and Server.CreateObject, I did that before, will see what happens. If I remember, there were limitations as to features which is why I went with the ActiveX Object instead. GE's browser software installed on the DVRs HDD, uses Client Side VBScript, talk about a one browser app! That said, I wonder if it couldnt be done in Client/Server Side Javascript ..anyway, will look into that further. I prefer server side over client side where possible though .. Rory
  17. the smaller pcs cost alot normally.. ill take a look at shuttle's though..

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

fiber nodes cost big $$ though...dont know much about fiber myself, just going by prices i have seen online.. Fiber is ofcourse the best, but still with Amplified NVT Tranceivers you ARE guaranteed no interference also.

    Upgrade

He he, that was a good one! I guess they dont like PHP??!
  20. If you havent updated windows XP to SP2 then you are also very vulnerable, and dont know how much it matters, but I always turn off Remote Assistance and all the other Remote Services, and any sharing of anything, and never use the built in FTP or any other at that.
  21. Nope, I like to make my own functions .... Visual Basic Class Files within classic ASP, kind of like the source code for an active X. Its also done like this so others can resuse it with no knowledge of ASP or anything else, just by changing the main variables passed to the class. Other that that everything else is done in the database, which ill write a VB GUI program for also, as well as the current back end web app. It wont be free, but when they get it they get all the source code and can do what they want. Later ill rewrite it in .NET just for kicks. Its designed to work within .NET also, with less changes having to be done. I was going to write it as a COM but then some hosting companies would not install it, that was one way for sure to secure the code, but ... For new coders Id definately recommend learning .NET though .. easier. Rory
  22. Actually, most web apps are slow because of bad coding on the application level, bad database connections or coding to connect to them, etc. If at all possible yes always make sure HTML is perfect also, since you are spending the time on making the code perfect which takes longer anyway, might as well make sure all CSS etc is good also. Im writing a web app now (almost complete) in asp that loads super fast, main thing is it uses cacheing so it just pumps out html and no code, no hitting a database, only once every 2 weeks as it is not updated much, or when the server is restarted. The whole site is basically in the database files, and some custom template files. There is even a web design app on the back end lets you change everything about the way each page looks, form builders, etc. No active X, no Java, just server side vbscript in classes.

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

Yeah I know what you mean, special order, like from here: http://www.lowvoltagewire.com/view_category.asp?cat=34 Or Heat Shrink tubing ..? If the end of the 1000' is inside somewhere, maybe pick a location to put in a punch down block and use a cabinet? Also, Cat5 is better, but you can use any twisted pair cable for those distances. as it only uses 1 pair for video. I would power them in the building where the cameras are located. Rory

    Fiber Optic or Cat 5

Just using baluns wont get rid of ground loops, hums etc, But using Activ UTP Tranceiver with Activ/Passive TXs will. Ive never done Fiber so cant say, but im sure it is alot more expensive than the Active UTP. For those distances, using for example NVT: http://www.spytown.com/nvtnv16porac.html http://www.spytown.com/nvtnvvitr.html will give you 3000 feet of amplified real time video. Using an active TX will give you 1.5 miles. Another Option would be to install the DVR at the location with the cameras, and run 1 Cat5 cable for a remote keypad,. such as if using Kalatel for example, you can run Cat5 up to 10,000 feet for 1 remote KTD-405 Keypad with full control of the DVR. For the monitor not sure, best to check with the manufacturers specs on that wiring.
