  1. Forget that, neither the HiSharp nor the Everfocus have POS. Just checked their specs. Rory
  2. Oh okay. No you wont find any that have great Point of sale, dont think any of them have it actually. Can look at the Everfocus 16 channel, or the HiSharp 16 Channel though ... just never thought of using them for that application. Rory
  3. Whats 'price point', 'Pelican Case'? 1 channel, 4 channel, more? I know the Kalatels Have great POS features. Im sure DM must have it also. Remember this is generally the stand alone DVR forum though incase you are referring to a PC system... Rory

If you can get your hands on a small TV like a 13" then you can plug it direct into there and see how the image is. Get a BNC-RCA connector also.

    Yes, very easy. Rory
  6. Only one I know of is the Kalatel DVMRe PRO at 120pps, but yes the price is not cheap. Other wise a StoreSafe Pro is 60pps.

    www.gotomydvr.com

anyone seen this link Anyway, I am going to make a site, well was going to name it the above link, but since that is taken, it will be: www.gotomydvr.net, probably. Was thinking keeping it a strictly DVR web site, for CCTV. with articles and reviews by editors, such as people from this forum that have had experience with certain DVRs,. Plus being able to login to member sections, to view their listed DVRs, live in the browser. There would also be Public DVRs for anyone to view, and sharing of DVRs between users. Also will have catagories of DVRs, sorted by Types, Price Range, Country Of Origin, With SDK/ActiveX, PPS/FPS, Compression Types, etc etc etc etc .. Dealers will be able to also view approx Dealer Price on DVR, while non dealers would see only Suggstd Retail Prices. Programmers can sell their custom software for DVRs, etc.. Sales of DVRs online also, from Dealers. Comments, suggestions, ideas, flames! ??
  9. anyone ever heard of a PC DVR called Capture?? I have a client that needs cameras repaired and they are running this software, image is very bad on all cameras, havent actually gone direct to each camera yet, but Im sure they cant be as bad as they look on the DVR side ...maybe some incorrect settings in the DVR or bad video card on the DVRs PC? Anyway ever heard of this PCI Card?
  10. if you need the PTZ commands for Kalatel, they are normally located at the end of the DVR/Mux Manual actually. Rory

    CAPTURE

No, they are just very blurry, and some are just blurry on the edges. A canadian company sold them it and installed it, so I would have thought it would have been focused and set up proper from day one, and they are domes, so they dont just get unfocused. Anyway, a slight troublshooting nightmare ..but what the hey! They should have supported the local market to start with ..!!

    CAPTURE

thanks, I found their web site. Domes are 480TVL and auto iris, actually had good specs, maybe they were never focused properly from day one .... or maybe they are just cheapo OEM domes? They are the Domes pictured on the Capture site though. Just never heard of the name Capture before. Ademco Video is not exactly a good name to stand behind also, video I mean. (I install Ademco alarms!) And who/what is richardson electonics? anyway, will check it out. Tell you the truth, I have not yet been impressed by any PC DVR I have used yet, will see how this one pans out when I go back to do the cameras and have a chance to test it out. Looks though like it has a bunch of quads or distributors, as there is also a mux to a normal CCTV monitor, and gawd knows what other stuff. I need a closer look on Monday. Maybe it is one of their stand alone DVRs, with 4 channel video servers going out to the PC that I was originally looking at it on ..? I never saw anything that resembled a DVR or any of their DVRs on their web site, anyway, just doing a price to move 3 existing cameras, and probably will do a per hour on focusing the other cameras, or at least wait to deal with them until I know what the problem is with them, wire, or other system parts between the cameras and the DVR, or whatever it is. Only went to look today, reluctantly, but its work, and I guess if anyone can fix it in Nassau, Im sure I can Rory

    Bullet Camera Advice Please

no thats about it! I havent seen any bullets at 940nm also. Like you said, probably it is because the cameras used, they may not perform well in the 940nm range. there are not many that do well in that range actually, but just about everything works in 840nm (BW anyway), and 750nm also. Sure that bright light ones you used werent the 750?? The IRs i use in the 840/850 are not that visible. The Extreme EX82s i have installed, as it is pitch dark, and the cameas and posts are black, you really cant even notice the LED lighting, uness you know where to look. IRs on bullets arent really worth it anyway .. Unless they have a huge array.. Rory

    Please advise on cheap DVR

Basic specs are okay, dont know the manufacturer though, one of the most well known and sold IP based cheap DVR is the HiSharp DVR but this is not that, another is the argus/intellicam DVR. If you can, take a test drive and let us know, before you buy it. Rory

    Please advise on cheap DVR

Are you and end user or an installer? this makes a world of difference. I take it you are in the US? Let us know some more. Rory
  17. that really depends on the location of the application, eg. is it in the ghetto? High Risk area? normally once it is not accessable without some form of raising device like a ladder, etc, then it is can be a normal housing. Also, if it is in a warehouse or area that can maybe get damaged, then you'd want a vandal 'resistant' housing. Always remember, any camera can be disabled by a criminal easily, even if it is vandal proof/resistant, nothing is 100%. I wont go into details here on how to diable them though, but it is a simple task for anyone actually. Rory

Herm, you have to catch up now on the posts! PM me when you get a chance. or email. Thanks, Rory
  20. no prob, i was only kidding .... Prices like you say make a difference for the average user .. DM must be kind of cheap over there though? Its expensive on this side though cause they have to import it I guess .. Thats gotta suck though, changing all those out ....
  21. Should have bought some DM's or StoreSafes ) Whoops. alost forgot im in the PC based forum here, ill switch back now ... actually, while im here, anyone used Digivue PC DVR?? Im switching this out for a GE StoreSafe, I dont think I have seen anything quite as bad as that thing before being used for security .... besides bad wiring! Ofcourse maybe it was the fact that it was being used as a DVR and a PC for other stuff....
  22. must be an australian and british thing? Not in the USA and West Indies/Central America.
  23. Ive used the Sanyo Day/Night, it is nice, not wall mountable though. It has lasted at the one location outdoors for 2 years now. The 500TVL does not make any difference though, only if it is indoors maybe in full light. Price is not much cheaper than the Panasonic though in the day night, for less than $100 more you can get the Pano Day Night in Wide Dynamic. I havent tested it though .. but its pano so should be good. As for Sony, I looked at them one time ago, for the name primarily, but was not impressed by their specs, nor their price, and as far as I can tell, they are really not big sellers. I like the WixKid Domes, they are cute, the WZ-30 anyway. Their wz-46 Day/Night Domes are not that great though. But their BW High Res is good in any of the domes. The Color ones are good also, I have both here at my appt. My main thing was the Day Night versions are just color that uses IR lighting, and that always among all Domes, causes glare most of the time as its in one casing. Most distributors can get you any extreme product, or wizkid, let me know if you want pricing I have it all here. WizKid is cheaper than all the other high end ones, and has the gimble, and is designed for wall mounted, both of mine are wall mounted here, I could not destroy it also, just scratched the cover slightly and replaced it with 1 of a 4 pack I got from Extreme next to nothing, I still have 3 left Nothing else got damaged at all, Sledghammer, Malot, and I even ran over it a few times with my jeep! Plus they made it through the past 2 hurricanes, and are directly on the wall overlooking the ocean with nothing to protect it from the rain. Not bad ... AS for Distributors, yes, most dont know what they sell half the time, I never rely on them, I just give them my part numbers. The one I use now though is pretty knowledgeable, though they install as well. Rory
