also, off topic, the demo for the Vitek lan DVR is not impressive, at least maybe it is the cameras they are using and its night time, do you know if the remote software can be changed, eg. like an ActiveX or SDK? thanks rory
-
hey, you're up early/late! Does anyone sell that in the US though? Maybe Eclipse is selling their Web Servers also, they have them in their price list also. EDIT: just saw Vitek is in the uS, whoops, thought that was the AvTech Link. Anyone else sell it in the US? Like on the East Coats? Thanks Rory

newbie, need advice for new camera wiring
rory replied to sf1964's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
BNC fitting for the video. I use tiwst on BNC connectors myself. No splicing required in fact using Box type cameras is the right way to do it. Just connect the red and black into the power terminal inputs for the Camera, and at the other end, connect the red and black to the transformer or multiple power supply. no splicing required anywhere unless you originally had a splice at the power supply for the bullet camera and want to use that power supply still. Once you are using Siamese Cable then it will work perfect with box type cameras, in fact that is what that type of cable is best used with; only bullet cameras and some fixed domes can require splicing. If you need a hand, I need a vacation Rory -
I dont see the point of the web server add on though, its cheaper just to buy the HiSharp 4 ch one time .. the one I have though, is only a quad not a mux, plus we do not see any motion recording function. Rory

thanks, yep, its dead cheap, will get one for myself, any ideas on a web server for remote video, something available in the US. Its going to be a big seller around here with or without a web server, as we are marking up hardly anything, to beat out the competition. Most people here (or in the ghetto) dont seem to care about remote video anyway, for a cheap one with remote video they are selling the HiSharp also at better prices than I can get from my regular distributors, like $100 less. Thanks Rory

ive used the Kalatel DSR-1000e which is a single channel DVR, it is smaller than most others, though you would need to make some sought of carrying case I guess to carry from one location to another. http://www.123securityproducts.com/kasichdsdivi.html built in web server, full use of WaveReader, etc. Also, check this out. http://www.123securityproducts.com/posichdvrwil.html and this: http://www.spytown.com/dvr-ksr-304m.html

Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 ethernet settings
rory replied to Robocam's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Are you using a Router? Anyway, if you are using a router, it will not connect Remoltely using IE. At least I have tried everything from port forwarding port 80 in the router settings to the appropriate internal IP, to port triggering, and it would not work. Thats where my Browser based software comes in handy However im not sure the current version works with windows XP Ill have to load XP on a seperat partition to test it, it used to but I checked recently on another computer with XP and nothing. Locally however, if using it the way I listed before and then port forwarding as a seperate application Port 80 to the internal IP, it WIlLL work. In other words, if using a router, and connecting with IE locally, it will load the DVR web server no problem but you must add forwarding to port 80. Rory -

this is how I do it, disable the DHCP, enter an IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway, the IP will have to be, either a Static IP from your ISP if connected direct to a modem, or, an IP in the range of your router. EG. 192.168.1.110. You can check your Router's IP range by going to command prompt, type in IPConfig, or go into the router in IE. Gateway and Subnet Mask will also be there. If your computer is say 192.168.1.08 then the range is probably 1-50, and so you would have to make it a number in that range. Same goes for if it is 192.168.2.1 instead it would be 192.168.2.110 or whatwaver the end range is. Now this is important when using a router for Remote Video, in the router set up, goto advanced and forwarding if using a Linksis Router. Add a new application, call it DVR or whatever, Ports are 1024 -to- 1024, Tick TCP, Enter the IP you entered into the DVR, Click Enabled. In Setup, enter the Static IP, Subnet and Gateway that your ISP will give you. Thats it. Then in WaveReader you will connect to that IP locally, and if remotely, you can connect to your Static IP, or if you are using a Laptop that comes and goes from the local location to a remote location, you can simply use the Static IP all the time. -

what are you using? Router, type of router? Static IP address? If using a Router what is the Internal IP range? -
hi, GE have a Lens line that will work with it, not high priced but great lenses, in fact I think they are Fujinon, they used to be at least, I think maybe they just put their names on them now, check lenses under GE Interlogix on spytown, 2.5-10mm Varifocal Auto Iris will work, or they have a 0.95 lens costs more but low lighting. Hi, basically the same way. Power to the cameras, red/black, then at the other end, use a power supply depending on the camera, 24VAC or 12VDC, the plug it in ) The power supply can be a single Transformer, or a Multiple Output: Examples:: http://www.spytown.com/24vac20vapow.html http://www.spytown.com/amxp16vac40v.html http://www.spytown.com/ccmulpowsupa.html RG59 Siamese Cable is all you need. Rory -
Even though they make alot of Chips for cameras, their cameras are not as great nor popular as they should be, from consensus. However, you wont go wrong with either one probably, I have never seen a Sony CCTV camera in action, nor do I know anyone that uses them. Rory

If you want the 570TVL quality then yes you will need the higher res monitor. The 400TVL is still 'better' than a TV, where it is industrial and can be left on 24/7 unlike a TV. (though i leave my TVs on almost 24/7, but I doubt they are going to last me that long!) 19-21" will be more expensive especially with high res, but yes: GE Kalatel 19" 800TVL - $688 http://www.spytown.com/mvc-19hr.html GE Kalatel 21" 500TVL - $444 http://www.spytown.com/mvc-21s.html Provideo 21" - 450TVL: $351 http://www.spytown.com/prvm21hiresc.html Even with the 500TVL there is a much greater increase in quality compared to using say a 19" Color TV. Flat Panel TVs are not bad though but yes the monitor is still better quality and lasts longer. I think TVs are arround 300-350TVL approx. Rory

14" Normal Res Monitor: 400TVL http://www.spytown.com/mvc-14s.html 15" High Res Monitor: 800TVL http://www.spytown.com/mvc-15hs.html http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=63&catid=1085&id=CRT_Monitors&lang=en_US PS. I just use a 13" TV myself at my home.

you may want to PM DVR australia though first as he has tested it, out, he is in australia so when he comes on here we may be alseep ... -
Not the best exview, depends what you want to spend and what it is for, I cant tell if that camera is a Day Night? Exview is Exview, most of the time the cheaper manufacturers over spec the lux level on them. GE Kalatel has a great Exview B/W High Res only for $174 on Spytown, lens is extra though so that will bring it up. http://www.spytown.com/ktc-540e.html I would highly recommend though, not mounting it inside looking out, but thats up to you, you may find it will not work good at all due to reflections, outside lighting, inside lighting, etc. Plus you may scratch the camera lens if it is wide angle mode and you have it right against the glass. A wide Dynamic would be better for mounting in looking out, but they run approx $300+. Panasonic has a B/W Wide Dynamic Camera: http://www.spytown.com/pawvandwv1hi.html or day night: (color/bw) http://www.spytown.com/panwvandwvhi.html The Provideo Bullets you mentioned are nice also, but are even nicer for mounting outdoors inconspicuously. The 6805ex would be better as then you can adjust the lens to your liking when you install it. If you want a color/BW version then the 7806DNV would be suggested as the best Bullet Day Night vesion asit also has an IR cut Filter unlike most other Day Night Bullets.

Better quality, better playback, more stable, better Remote Software and Remote Playback Features. All of the cheap DVRs i have tested, tend to lock up on Playback remotely over the internet, inlcuding the Everfocus, Hisharp and Provideo. Kalatel has never done this to me ever but it uses a different RTOS. Thats why I never even mention remote playback anymore for cheap DVRs, just that they can view it live over the internet and thats all But, like I said I have not tested this 4 channel DVR, DVR australia has and has also Tested the Kalatel so he would be better at this. Otherwise get one and let us know Thanks .... Rory -

rory replied to sf1964's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Well this 4 channel has much better features and specs than the other cheap DVRs they sell on that site. This will actually, well after some tests for stability, MAY be competition for the Kalatel StoreSafe, also depends on the remote software, and whether they provide an SDK or ActiveX to change the look of the remote software to a more american GUI.. I dont think this DVR though, can be compared to the other cheap ones they have on their site, it is in a different class, same goes for Kalatel DVRs, DM, etc. But they are good for low end installs or ones that dont need much DVR features such as small retails or home users. I do like the IR Remote Controls on those cheaper brands though, dont know why the expensive DVRs cant add those to them... Rory -

That looks like the Nadatel DVR, they only make a 4 channel DVR, and the company is new, so its up to you. It has some good specs. We were waiting for it to come over this side of the world to test it out I think DVR australia has tested it over there .. -
Need true 'real-time' video, audio, and PTZ over internet
rory replied to eganson's topic in System Design
Actually I thought their pricing was very cheap, compared to other IP cameras and Servers. Plus they have an SDK so you can make your own software for the cameras and servers. -
Yes, well it depends, is the color worth it, will there ever be enough light to go into color mode? If you need Wide Dynamic and BW then the Pano is the one. For the Bullet, if there is really never any color time, then a BW is all you need. However it is hard to find high res BW bullets which is why I generally go High Res Dome BW. The nightclub I used as an example, never has anyone but staff durung the day hours, so the client does not care about color in the day, at least not at the bar areas and dance floor. The indoor bars are dim 24/7 so they will never use Color at all. So it really depends on the client (yourself?) 's requests, and the location's lighting. Rory
