IP Software Reviews
rory replied to ipProTech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I wouldnt call your company a distributor, you dont carry any brand names, just a couple OEM (low end) products. -
Specs are good, 600TVL (EIA: 768X494), havent seen that in a BW bullet camera yet, let us know how it goes. Especially for $75 .. Rory

Wireless IP bolt on ?
rory replied to paranoid's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry thought you were talking about wireless or IP cameras. Its good for mobile and portable, that I agree with. We have no call for mibile though in this country. Sounds like you need alot of money to get into that though, farms of computers and long range wireless networks ? Ofcourse would be ideal for a video monitoring set up, with existing local DVRs & cameras, to like you said a central server, with monthly recurring money, for those people that dont want to spend on a DVR. If you want to come down here and set up a video monitoring central station, with your own wireless network, or using existing cable internet, let me know, I can get the clients for that easily by utilizing my ties with the largest Alarm Monitoring company in this country. Noone is really doing it here yet, there are a couple that have maybe 2 or 3 clients operating out of their home PC, in other words not doing it properly.. -
no kidding! (well I can only talk for the remote software). But they do have an SDK that you can make your own remote software with. As for chips being cheap, im sure alot of the cost involved is in creating the DVR software, as that takes time. eg. 10 hours x $75 an hour = $750 - more features = more money - same for all DVRs and any other hardware. Then again they get paid alot less in Asia probably for software programming ..?? (not sure). Same can be said for alot of DVR manu's software, or any software, there is always something that the client wants, that is not there, but can the developer think of every thing? not always .... or they can, but then the cost of the product will be much higher as more hours are put in. Also errors in installation of software can be related to other issues like other installed programs, non installed programs, corrupt system files, non existent system files, or an OS not supported by the software ..and more. Errors with hardware can be many other issues as well such as device conflicts, etc. Support of course also effects the cost of the product, you will pay more for a product that has great support. PS. I have never used the GEO cards, this is not neccassarily directed to them or their cards, just a general reply to all products, not neccassarily related to DVRs or CCTV, mainly general software related.

bullet cam is okay, just depends on the brand, AND the model. where do you live?

Recommended DVR software for Windows and Linux
rory replied to PKL-Lap's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
4-32 cameras is a huge difference in price. If you get a good/high end DVR it will support dual displays, and remote control/playback, in both standalone RTOS and pc, I prefer RTOS DVRS myself. Im not sure if embedded XP is a true RTOS though? Typically for embedded RTOS licences you will pay quite a bit, such as the Nucleus RTOS used in Kalatel DVRs and some other expensive ones. But if you use embedded linux it will be cheap/free, just 'slightly' less stable (from experience with linux DVRs). The Nucleus RTOS is designed for embedded apps though, check out: http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com/embedded/nucleus.html They have SDKs if you like to play with that kind of thing. BTW, Kalatel DVRS use PowerPC with the Nucleus RTOS, as do some other US brands. http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com/pressrel/at_Microtec_PPC.html http://www-306.ibm.com/chips/products/powerpc/ (as far as I know it is by IBM) Used in everything from DVRs, to Coffee machines, Medical Equipment, cellphones, Robotics, and then some, worth checking out if you have some time on your hands ... I think the hardest part of it would be the hardware .... Rory -
sounds like a bullet camera or a rear vision camera. 0.2 lux in BW is not low at all for most bullet cameras. But like cooper said if its dead cheap give it a whirl. Otherwise I can at least point you to a bw bullet that would be a lower lux and a better brand (depends) than that.

Hi Larry An easy way would probably have a classified forum. In this case he was posting the same links in several forums and some not in reply to others. With a classified forum that would be the only place to place ads.

id think he got this straight by now, its from july

ok, so you mean SPAM

Everfocus = low end.

Questions to ask when quoting a CCTV system
rory replied to rory's topic in General Digital Discussion
BTW, update, will get started on this as soon as I have finished a web application im developing right now, maybe next week or so.. Also, have some other ideas such as a web area dedicated to online demos for multiple DVR/Remote video, basically will represent EVERY manufacturer out there. Just want somewhere people can go and easily test out single or multiple demos of remote software, DVR or Network Servers, doesnt matter. Maybe have a registered and non regiestered users area, so reg users get free scripts such as the one mentioned in this thread, they can view more than a particular number of demos, or a particular number in one day, etc, but both will be free. Minor advertising (no pop ups - I hate them, banners only), then there will be sign ups for contributors who earn $$ % shares for contributing to code, scripts, or whatever .... Sound good? Perhaps a FAQ for manufacturers, searchable (im writing a script right now that is a FAQ manager), search by Manufacturer Usage in the world, ratings, polls, NO FORUM, that is what this place is for! Any other ideas??? Will start work on this/these as soon as I complete my current web project, like I said, by next week, or the following. All functions/Subs I am writing now are reusable accross all types of web applications dependant on the app. basically a library of the best/easiest/most usefull functions and subs, all contained in their own seperate file. They are all in classic ASP code BTW, ASPx is for dummies@! There is nothing that I cannot do in classic ASP, trust me, or ask me to prove it .... Rory -
iPix has been around for a long time, and offer great products, particularly in Panoramic viewing of images and virtual tour software. Not having tested the product you mention, though I am sure they will rise to the occasion. Rory

Agreed btw, what is 'astroturfing'? Rory

3 lux? that is high lux, I mean low lighting like exview, o.1 lux and below..
-
Only issue I can tell is it is not day night, low light, or Wide Dynamic.
-
those are still images though, tons of real estate sites have been using them for years now, you can actually use any camera, and piece it together with pano software, or use Ipix software. Ive done this with pano software and javascript a couple years back. Does the camera you mentioned let you do panoramic in live video feed??

Oct-18-Oct25 fallen off the face of the earth?? Darn, you need to come to the Bahamas, things barely get done within at least 3 months or so if we are lucky! It would mean maybe a year to say someone has fallen off the face of the earth, over here -
Wireless IP bolt on ?
rory replied to paranoid's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah, but Realtime wireless such as Video Comm / Trango is non compressed real time full sized video, thats what we use in the CCTV industry. If DVRs are useless to you then you are not in the CCTV industry! Today they are the core of the industry. Its nice to know that you can afford to add a new camera every week though, especially at the cost of an IP camera, or any high quality camera at that DVRs are hardware limited? Once you have some idea of how many cameras you will need/can afford, then there it will never be an issue. Always buy a DVR that has more channels than you think you may need, just incase. Most if not all normal home users dont need more than 4 cameras, as they are not protecting the pentagon. If they think they do, you go up one step to a 9/10 channel. IP cameras (web cams) are limited also, bandwidth (non real time over mutliple cameras), and then there is price for the cameras & the software, and then, there is still having to run cat 5 to each camera, unless you have cardboard boxed walls where you can use wireless networking .. If you have the infrastructure for Cat 5 then you normally can easily install RG59 there also, if not, use UTP/Cat5 devices for CCTV, such as active amplified TX/RXs. Eg. www.NVT.com / www.Nitek.com There is still no point to IP cameras unless you are going to use them as a single camera application, long range wireless such as a bridge camera (etc), or record off site (eg, video monitoring station) but even that is not very reliable due to Internet issues such as the ISP going down, bottle necks etc. But whatever scratches your itch, if you like IP cameras over CCTV, than thats fine. If you are doing Wirless, just keep it seperate as it is not CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision), same goes with any Wireless Video. Wireless Video on a whole is unreliable. It can always be hacked even with the latest encrypted technologies and jammers that are out now, not to mention all the extra work involved with having antennas at correct heights and line of site exact... Basically, which ever Wireless Solution you decide to use, whether it is normal wireless CCTV, or Network Wireless Video, try to stay clear of wireless, it is a last resort, where you absolutely cannot run wire. This goes for everything wireless, including alarm systems. -
seen it a few months ago they have been doing full 360 degree all around virtual tours for a couple years now also, I guess they just integrated it into the CCTV camera now.

check this one out, uses standard BNC also.. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=713

I have a client with a wireless SMC baracuda router, 3 home PCs on it, and now the Hi Sharp 4 Channel DVR (He bought himself earlier this year, from my distributor none the less, and you wonder why I have cant sell products!) Anyway, its really slow on the local network. I checked all settings and the DVR settings are ok, the router settings are default. Question: are these brand of Routers typically slow, or could it just be the DVR itself, as it IS a cheap 4chDVR ($569 US) PS. the DVR is under a totally different name, I guess the US distributor stuck their own DVR model number on it! But it is definately the cheaper 4 channel HiSharp DVR (there are 2 models) Rory

if it is a stand alone such as Kalatel it uses the same port.
