Anyway im broke right now but have multiple ads in the paper for a couple weeks started yesterday so will see what happens, if nothing does, im following my brother over to manchester, UK, where he just moved to last week.

Why I wouldn’t sell Geovision
rory replied to heloder's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I think the question is does anyone else write custom apps for GEO already? Also, the reason I wrote my own GUI for Kalatel DVRs was not to be more impressive or load it with extra features( though this could be done with more time such as multiple audio or live audio, etc), but it was to have an easier to use SIMPLE app, it did turn out to be 3mb compared to their regular 50MB wavereader, of course less features, but, on the road you can download and install it in seconds, to view your DVR .. and it has playback/ search by Time Date also. -
Cool, does GEO make their own cards or do others make it and they make the software? Sounds more like they are a software company with alot of time on their hands )
-
yep, I think you sent me some info on it? I just downloaded a PDF from your site to look at later. They look alot like the Nuvico DVRs, is that the one? What kind of $$ are they though? I can get Kalatel for $3200(edited) 16 channel with CDRW. but my main problem is I have no $$ to buy products to demo or sell either way, I can only sell what I know right now, economy is terrible here right now, things are tough, my brother just left to live in the UK. And the local government is not even encouraging investment, or they are screwing us locals while encouraging hotel investment who get everything Duty free and import workers from the US care of the local government ..

probably... great remote quality from the DVRs i have used..i also have my own software if you want to give it a wirl (3mb compared to 50mb wavereader). but yes, major $$, less than others though like DM etc.. Rory

Jkiding... Jason, what DVR are you carrying now? Are you selling the Sunnel DVRS? Rory
-
In that case a GE Kalatel DVR would be your best bet
-
yeah but the trained eye can see the sticker they put on it with their own product ID is half off already, they didnt press hard enough! Funnier even is the distributor in Florida is selling this as an APro DVR as he has no clue who makes it, he gave me the product ID and I could not find it online anywhere, well go figure! But one look at this one in person, I knew it was a HiSharp, and it was proven by a simple visit to HiSharp's web site; also uses the generic OEM asian DVR software (chinese, taiwanese??) Rory

Why I wouldn’t sell Geovision
rory replied to heloder's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Ill need a new PC though this one suks! Its a 2.2 celleron and I think the CPU mobo is crap also, got it cheap, 128Mb memory doesnt help it at all with all the big new software I run (adobe, etc..). Maybe I can do 2 buys, 2x4 channel Geos, get someone local to buy me a newer PC or more memory and a seperate Video card for time served (work done), then I can run a DVR on here... give me a price on 2x 4 channel cards, UPS to Nassau, Bahamas. Does not have to be fast, whatever one you have. PM / email me with it .. thanks, I really do need to start recording my cameras anyway ..plus like i said I can then work on a new GUI, ofcourse Ill have to do this one in XP. Rory -
these are the features I see are unique, and some of them I dont know/understand what they mean? Camera Pop up. (i get this one GSM messaging Infa red remote control - neat Electronic mapping -ok, but just more work 16 CH audio - cool Ausio two way -cool (audio?) Left Object Detector ? Stolen Object Detector ? Control room Ping Alive Software -? Filters for video sampling, ? Motion Tracking by software and PTZ - neat and unique Built in Back light Compensation - cool Non latency Audio ?? Flag Important Data. ? These are more typical found DVR features: POS interface - in most DVRs now Propriatory Codec - many have this now Control room - some others have this Lock Up of desktop and disable CTRL ALT DELETE - only for windows Built in AGC - most have this Touch Screen Interface - anyone can add this (www.earthLCD.com) Video / Email Sent on Camera Loss - many have this now or at least images sent (but video sent is neat) any more ?

Why I wouldn’t sell Geovision
rory replied to heloder's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I think we will be keeping our eyes on Nadatel over the next few months/year... Question: do Nadatel supply a SDK or ActiveX Control? Also, if you send me a GEO card (any cheap old one will do) Ill write some better looking interfaces for it -
Why I wouldn’t sell Geovision
rory replied to heloder's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
why i 'Dont' sell it. It is not a big seller in this part of the world, no security distributors sell it in South Florida. It looks like you have to buy it from a computer dealer... there are other reasons but one is im not a computer dealer, and that requires buying computers to put the GV cards in. Any computer store around here can do that and sell web cams or eclipse products, so as security business I will sell the higher end systems, otherwise im just another computer store.. -
We're on the same page finally What i dont get, is who wants to buy a DVR then only record in low resolution... One thing I like about the Kalatel DVRs is the built in Disk Analysis when looking for events/motion.

Great Site for CCTV Signal testing, knowledge
rory replied to VST_Man's topic in General Digital Discussion
yep, they are the ones that sell the 'camera master'.. -
If your on the US side, then i would go Kalatel over DM, it is cheaper and has more features. Its remote software is more powerful also, includes mutli site feature that allows 1 window to view from up to 16 other Kalatel DVRs, in up to a 64 camera view (great for plasmas/LCD/projection). You wont get real time on any embedded with 16 cameras, at least not in Highest quality. Everfocus does not compare with DM or Kalatel, it is not even in the same league. Rugged CCTV is the same league as Everfocus, cheapo DVR, it looks like an OEM. The everfocus display and playback quality is lower than the Kalatel, it is ok for a cheap installation though. However I dont sell them anymore. If you want a demo of a Kalatel DVR online PM/Email me. I wrote my own software (3mb) or you can download the WaveReader(50mb) one from GE's site. Also, using the Kalatel as an example, in a 24 hour gas station here, using 8 cameras and a 320GB DVR, at 10pps setting (as total is 60pps on this DVR), I get 28 days, more if using motion recording. Ofcourse that is not super fast, it is multiplexed, but I do not miss anything. As for real time, using 3 cameras with a 30pps recorder on Motion only, 40GB, i get 2+ months, not much traffic, and when it records, if only one camera picks up motion it IS in real time. It divides the speed between the amount of cameras picking up motion. Ofcourse remote video will not be in real time unless both internet connections are super fast, and most cant pay for that. If you are looking at the GE DVMRe get the PRO version instead as it is 120pps, the CT is only 60pps. DVMRe-Pro-320CDRW $4400 http://www.spytown.com/dvmre-pro16-320cdrw.html DVMRe-CT-320A $4200 http://www.spytown.com/dvmre-16ct-320a.html Only $200 difference, its not worth buying the CT anymore, unless you want the slim look. One last thing, I havent had to go back to any of these Kalatel DVRs in over 3 years since they were installed, they are plug and play machines, no updates are required unless you want to, they do upgrade their embedded software frequently also, but you can update it over the internet easily. Kalatel DVRs are the easiest ones I have used so far, much less complicated than Everfocus, DM, etc. You just have to plug them in and dont worry, it does it all for you. Set up is simple also. But then I say the same thing about Ademco Alarm programming, while somehow others find it difficult, same can be said for ASP and VB programming, depends on the users technical ability. The Kalatel's newer firmware is even easier. You can also program the entire DVR with WaveReader over the internet. Its just not as pretty as DM's software, but way more powerful. Rory

I agree, as far as the Ultraview goes, and their GBC version of fixed cameras, had to send some back and also seen others on this forum with the same issue. I havent had any issues with their Cam Plus models yet, all worked great out of the box. But thats 2 Ultraviews right off the top from me and from Fred! It seems if you get one good you get all good, if you get one bad all are bad! THey must have had a hard weekend at the factory, drunk or high at the time of production of the bad bunch. :-0 Youd probably have better luck with Japenese built as those guys work like machines! Gawd help us if Bahamians ever started making cameras, they would be just as bad (or worst) as 'made in mexico' products! It appears if you are going to have a problem with GE cameras at least it happens right out of the box, except that still holds up the installation. I now ask my distributor to test EVERY camera first before shipping to me as it takes long enough to get here as it is, let alone having to send it back and wait for another one .. Only had 1 bad provideo bullet camera out of the box, so far. When i was selling them, had a few COP USA cameras that went bad over a period of a short time, had to send back, and they were replaced with other bad ones, needless to say I dont buy them anymore. Seen plently of bad Eclipse in the field, not mine though as I dont sell cheap crapp anymore. Bought 1 Hunt Dome Vandal Resist, been going 3 years since day one no probs. Had 1 bad Phillips camera out of an order of 10 of them. Ofcourse apart from the Ultraview some of these issues could have been power spikes here on installation. Rory

need input for dvr pc-based system
rory replied to sjose's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
16 channel versions: Provideo Everfocus Hi Sharp I have used these 3 types as well, they are low end stand alone DVRs. All lack features found in the GE Kalatel DVRs. You can find info on this same forum for these as far as tests, etc. The HiSharp 4 channel is not bad (tested one the other day, only basic though only had 10 minites to play as it was at someone elses house), $600 dealer price though, now the ikagami is only $450 dealer price. in that case, and if you dont / cant spend much right now, maybe a DVR like this: http://www.spytown.com/iksd4chdivir.html I dont know whats going on with Spytown.com's prices but it was $450 a couple weeks ago, and $450 from other dealers, let me know if you are interested and I can point you in th direction. FredB on this forum has also used this DVR so you may want to check with him. I havent tried it yet personally but it does have great specs. Ofcourse due to the price it still lacks the features found in the $1200 GE Kalatel unit, but for a home DVR, cant beat it. Im getting one for own appartment as soon as I get the cash. Rory -

Whats the Biggest Selling CHEAPO 16 Ch. DVR in USA
rory replied to rory's topic in Digital Video Recorders
if it uses the same web server as Provideo, dont count on it for remote video. -
Stand Alone - PC Based, or Embedded OS Please post links, Pros/Cons, Prices if you have Thanks Rory

I havent used the DVMRe-PRO yet though, it is not cheap at all. But what they claim, you will get, they are not like linux based or asian DVRs that claim 240pps but come to realise that is in low res, the GE DVRs give you the PPS globally no matter what res. I woudnt call it overpriced, overpriced is if you can get the same quality unit with the same features from somewhere else for cheaper, but you cant. Though I would call them expensive, BUT, for a standalone name brand they are cheaper than all the others, they are cheaper than DM, Pano, Ultrack, Phillips, etc.

Yes, GE has some pro cameras : For US sales: http://www.cctvtime.com/ http://www.cctvtime.com/shopexd.asp?id=9155 Exview Camera, great image in light, and still sees in low lighting at night time, I have used them in several stores here. I have also used this one, it is just as good in full light, but it is not low light, so it needs full lighting, http://www.cctvtime.com/shopexd.asp?id=9154 Are you looking for hidden cameras? You mentioned 'hidden' in your post. They also sell hidden cameras. If you want to see what I generally sell: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/shop.asp?shop=products&cat=12 (prices are bahamian$$ so ignore) ROry
