  1. Maybe I can help you there also: First, they claim 15', they tend to pick up further than that. I have them, for example, in a gas station, and when the door is open or in the cash booth, you can hear the people outside, such as cars, etc. I imagine that is a mimimum 15' radius from the center point. Second - Covert They have one I also use, that is basically a electric gang box cover with a mic on the inside, they also have a version that comes with the gang box, but I find it cheaper on shipping just to get the face plate, as you can then also just use any gang box in or outside the wall. http://www.louroe.com/mics.asp?model=dmic http://www.louroe.com/mics.asp?model=amic The A-mic looks like a heat detector and can be mounted anywhere, especially useful for drop ceilings.
  2. if the PC DVR audio in (if it has one) has a built in line level amp, as does TV's and CCTV Monitors and Stand alone DVRs, you can simply hook up something like the Louroe mics: http://www.louroe.com/mics.asp These work great .. based out of Cali, USA. You just use any 12V power supply as they dont need much ampage. Multi Output 12v power supplies combined with 12V cameras also work. Rory

    Tamron lens help

I havent used that version. Possibly this filter is used for Infrared applications. I have only used their 4594 version camera in a day night with IR application, and in that case I did not have to use any kind of filter, just added the lens and it worked great. Rory

    Boat-mounted underwater CCTV system

is that underwater or on the front of the boat? This is a very good one, on the high end. http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=10
  5. yes, but Im asking about cheap DVRs They are more expensive than Kalatel on this side. Comeon, anyone else, cheap 16 channel DVRs ..
  6. I thought I read somewhere, 30pps is real time as the human eye sees it, but 60pps is true real time??
  7. yep, should just be plug and play, I have used both wired and wireless Lynksis routers together at once and they work just by plug and play. Though I always set my DVRs (when applicable) to the same IP, makes it easier for service calls, if they ever need one. Wavereader doesnt need anything special, just an IP for the DVR. If you're interested, I have another program for Kalatel DVRs, I wrote some time ago, its free and its small. Check it out. Obviously doesnt have all the bells and whistles of Wavereader, but 3Mb to 50MB And it is all I normally ever need to do, has simple search by date when in playback mode: (still needs some more work such as remembering IPs, user passwords etc, but for now its all I use: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/download.asp
  8. I thought all 2.4Ghz wireless TX systems that have a 4 channel receiver, are seperate feeds, at least the ones i have used in the past. You get a Receiver that has 4 channels, and a TX that has 4 channels. One TX and one RX for each camera, 4 seperate channels (4 seperate video feeds) on the same frequency range. Then what you do with it after that is up to you, 4 channel multiplexer, 4 channel DVR/Mux, Quad, or switcher.
  9. That is a low res camera. It is not low light so not that good for outdoors. Also, you need to add a housing for outdoors. The $20 ones are basically no good, dust still gets into them over a while, you'd need to spend probably about $50 on a housing. Otherwise it is a good camera, but like i said, 330TVL is low resolution. Its a bit bulky to have outside your home when used in a housing. But it will give you a wider angle view due to the lens you mentioned. If you have sufficient light then the Lux level is not an issue. Rory

    Covert/dummy cameras

yep, but they are discreet any designed not to be noticed, a cheapere eclipse or COP USA camera B/W low res, but just dont connect it up 0
  11. for real, all the florida distributors sell that brand of Samsung (GVI / Samsung USA) but i have found them to be less then adaquate cameras.
  12. thats a rebadged camera like COP-USA, etc, cheap stuff. There is a US based company called Samsung, but it is not genuine Samsung. You are better off with a Provideo Bullet Camera, plus no housing or additional lens required.

Used to be .com but my friend let the .com go, ,net is available now. What do you think, go further or leave it alone??? http://www.bahamassecurity.com/byp/ Thanks Rory
  15. Hi I cant help with the GEO info but you may want to post that in the computer section also. As for cameras, Pro cameras, the best, would cost around $200+lens+housing, so I think bullet cameras would probably be the only choice. They have to be weather resistant either way as you say they are going outside. There are a couple Bullets that I can recommend: (Provideo - www.csi-speco.com) http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/shop.asp?shop=products&cat=97 The color exview bullet camera is probably what you are after, it is high resolution. Ignore pricing though as that is our local Bahamian prices after import duty etc. Just some ideas. Do you know where online you will be shopping? Prices vary. Rory

    CAT5 INSTALLATIONS

could be a bad connector box. Or your BNC Connections to the box. Depending on the lines, horizontal/vertical, etc, it could be many different things with that kind of a setup. And yes, make sure the cameras are getting enough voltage and its the correct amps. First thing I would check are all of the connections across the line though.

    Intellix AVR-400S

Great, I am waiting, my distributor is bringing them in, will sell them to me for same price, I will get one as soon as they arrive there. Also, what about the Ikegami 16 Channel DVR, Im looking for a low end 16 channel DVR, but the ones so far I have used (Eg, Everfocus) really are not that good. They are in the $1200 range. I need one with software and quality like the HiSharp 16 Channel, but back up features such as CF or CD or even record over network as video not just an image. Everwannafocus only gives OK quality on a CRT Monitor (or a good LCD) at 1000X resolution, 800X resolution is crap. And, only their browser software is any good, the GUI soft is crap. Their local playback is not that great quality also, yet they claim it is a mux. Any ideas? I posted a seperate thread for this in this same forum. It could even be a low end 9/10channel, its mainly for home users that need more than 4 cameras. thanks for the feedback on the Ikegami Fred It helps alot with decisions. Rory
