  1. I generally set my DVRs to 5-8pps, but if there is motion it speeds up on that camera and gets divided among cameras as they pick up motion, so if only one camera is getting motion then that one is in real time (30pps or 60pps). I havent seen any embedded stand alones (non windows OS) that do 480pps yet in high resolution. If you have a link I would be interested to see it

    What F-stop lens is recommended?

personally, I love high quality cameras from well known brands, but to give you an idea I have Provideo Bullet Cameras outside my house, its all you need for a normal home and I have no lighting issues at all. Dont forget for the Toshiba you will also need an outdoor housing. Rory
  3. Good question: http://www.remote-security.com/gv650.htm They say 60pps but 480pps with DSP card. Whats a DSP card? 60pps is still 'a decent' standard in CCTV but is rising (30pps is still a norm in some stand alone DVRs especially lower end ones), though in higher end CCTV it has entered the 120pps and later will be 480pps eventually as we all here hope it will be. Most if not all Linux Stand alones are claiming 120-240pps while they are really in lower resolution at those speeds, normally they are much lower when using high resolution such as 60 or 30pps. While there are other more expensive stand alone DVRs that are doing real time but still at a high price tag, and generally on 4 channel DVRs only. That is stand alone DVRs. PC Cards as far as I have been told, can do the higher resolution in faster speeds due to faster CPU speeds, and are the only ones right now that do 480pps, in other words right now only PC cards can do 480pps over 16 cameras which is real time recording. Someone else like DVR Exp will i'm sure respond to this with more info as Ive never used Geo and no high end PC DVRs. So if it is indeed 60pps, then yes to your question. But dont feel bad, its still a decent recording speed, especially if you are using Motion Detection Recording. Rory

I cant seem to find any US pricing on the Ganz cameras any more, do you have a link to anywhere in the US that sells Ganz dealer cost, and also, whats your cost? If there is a big difference and shipping is not much, you never know may be best buying from you I can check shipping from here probably, UPS. Would obvioulsy have to ship more than one to be worth it. Their Domes do look good as far as specs, when do you think they will have WD in them? Im really looking for these types: Day Night Wide Dynamic Traditional Camera High Res Day Night Wide Dynamic Fixed Dome Varifocal High Res Day Night Fixed Dome Varifocal High Res Wide Dynamic Fixed Dome Varifocal High Res Exview Traditional Camera High Res Exview / Day/Night /Wide Dynamic Compact Traditional Camera High Res Color Fixed Dome Varifocal High Res Exview Fixed Dome High Res B/W Fixed Dome High Res B/W Fixed DOme Standard Res Color Fixed Dome Standard Res All have to be high end brands What do you think, too much to carry, should narrow them down to less products? Im also carrying 4 Provideo Bullet Cameras for home users, and ofcourse a few select discreet and hidden cameras. Trust me, Ive come across needs for all of these cameras so far in various quotes. Shall we start a new thread? I guess the thing to do is not to carry them all, just sell them all?? thanks Rory

if panasonic cameras were not so ugly! Seriously, seen their surface mount domes, but other than looks, what do you think of this dome: http://www.spytown.com/panwvvanproo1.html i have a job that needs (for now) 2 domes on the outside of a gas station, under a cover, that looks at the gas pump drive throughs, one dome to cover 3 pump drive throughs each (there are 3 sets of pump stations). They will be zoomed in around 8mm. I know he cant get the licence plates, well maybe, but main thing is to get rid of any glare at night from the car lights to get a clear picture. Also, this is farely near the harbour so needs to be weatherprooof at the least. Do yah think the pano WD dome will work?

for $60 more you can get a ge kalatel ultraview, personally ill never use any everfocus or jvc cameras anymore. Panasonic, Ganz, GE from reading people's feedback, and these are high end brands and all have a Wide Dynamic, Everfocus, JVC, etc, not really high end, well JVC maybe but Ive used their cameras in the past and they were not great. But if you do get the everfocus, capture some images and let us see them, you just never know, technology and all that...

What are these like Alan, have you tried them before? I was wondering as the BW Mode does not seem as low as other Day/Night cameras (0.1Lux). I mean 0.1 lux is still low though and should work for nightime, I guess at .8 lux color, it would also be able to be used indoors for front doors, or warehouses etc. Almost same price as the Kalatel Ultraview?? I dont think they have it over here yet. I really need WD though. thanks Rory

    Samsung Techwin

Ok thanks alan, that about sums it up, that explains why the day/night zoom camera we got from Samsung (GVI) looks just like all the other COP-USA's, etc, and was pretty much crap.

i would but that would be around $300+ once landed, depending on shipping and customs, mainly shipping. Yall get things cheap over there, well and the US also, once it lands here from the US it is basically 75% more. My main thing is the WD cameras, especially a WD Vandal Resistant Weather Resistant Low Light/ Day/Night Fixed Dome. I actually need one for a job right now, which is why I have been looking. Anyway, 3am here im going offline for the night... Rory

    Night Club Situation

Sounds alot like the DVR quality setting is not to the highest. For example an Everfocus DVR comes mid by default and has to be changed to Superior for highest quality recording. Otherwise you should notice the pixelisation in live view also. Exview color cameras will no doubt pixelise in a night clubs lighting also. I had exview cameras in a night club here in the start but we switched them out to BW and they are very clear now. Exview will allow you to see, but with those dim lights such as at the bar, it will not be as crisp as a B/W camera. We have 10 x.1 (0.02) lux B/W Bullet cameras installed around the bars, entrance and dance floors, and I am amazed at how clear they are, for the price especially. Try what DVR said first, then if they are still pixelising, look at going B/W if you are not already. Rory

    GE Ultra View Camera

This is what I got from Samsung Techwins site: "Each company within the Samsung Group is an independent legal entity. Samsung Group is not a legal entity. Samsung Group is a term to conveniently refer to a group of companies that are tied together by their corporate history. " http://www.samsungtechwin.com/html/support/html_legal_notice.asp whavever that means? I guess they are all allowed to use the name Samsung but are independent of each other..??

    GE Ultra View Camera

This is Samsung Techwin's Site: They claim to be genuine Samsung Products, they look much more professional than the other Samsung Cameras that I have seen and used and did not like: http://www.samsungcctv-info.com/ http://www.samsungtechwin.com Next this is the one that my distributors are selling over here, different products as far as I can see, and they make their own products also, or label them as theirs: They look really cheesy. ..? Some of the cameras look the same such as the PTZ. DVRs are totally different. http://www.SAMSUNGCC.TV

    Samsung Techwin

Which ones? Techwin has a better selection of WD cameras, etc, compared to the GVI samsung which my distributor sells. Which ones are the better? I primarily like it for the WD Fixed Domes. Rory
  16. Pierces Installation book is actually good, just ignore the part about recorders, and some camera stuff is outdated also, but alot of other useful info.
  17. I have Charlie Pierces Book, its outdated. The biggest problem with twist ons is most people dont know how to put them on properly. Same can be said with crimp ons. Obviously any extreme conditions would require a good crimp on for sure.

    GE Ultra View Camera

Yeah I noticed they had the custom WD or presets on the Ultraview like for outside, indoors, etc, you can basically chane everything. It was all OSD. Once the hurricane passes Im sure I will get a replacement and will test it out before I reinstall it. Dusan some nice pics by the way. BtW, even with the bad image I was getting, the WD light correcting was working good, I could stand in the camera view with a light behind me and it saw my face good, and everything behind me.. Rory

    GE Ultra View Camera

thats a different model, Samsung Techwin is the ones I was talking about: Note - doesnt say if it is Exview or SuperHad:: (Their web site is all javascript so I cant inlude a link to the actual camera) 1/3" Low Light, WDR, Day & Night Color camera 1/3", Vertical double density interline CCD - 1/3" 410K Pixels, Double Scan Color CCD - WDR Function ( SVII ) : Wide dynamic range - Clear & Crisp Image with SSNR - ICR (Infrared Cut Filter Removable) Automatic or manual switch from color mode to monochrome - High Resolution : More than 500 TVL ( Color ), 550 TVL (B/W) - Automatic Filter Change (Auto Mechanism) - Min. Illumination Color:0.2 Lux at F1.2(AGC ON),Min.0.003 Lux at F1.2(Sens-up Mode) Monochrome : 0.01 Lux at F1.2 (AGC ON ) - Motion Detection, Privacy Image Masking - Elapsed Timer, OSD, RS-232C - Dual Voltage AC 24V & DC 12V,AC 220V(PH) I think this is a different manufcturer? I know, 1/3" still though I have used 1/2 inch before and even switched it for a 1/3 inch for Infrared and the 1/3 Inch was much better. Panasonic has lot of 1/2" cameras, and Ikegami, but pricey. Ideally every camera will be Exview, 1" intergrated varifocal lens 1.4-70mm, Wide Dynamic Day Night Switch, and 600TVL, price under $3-400

    GE Ultra View Camera

I think that is the technology by pixem that the Ultraview uses also, dont know what brand of camera dusan is using though. After this though Im going to buy a bunch of the Samsun Techwin cameras and test them, I like for instance the day night wide dynamic fixed varifocal dome camera, as I need one right now for a gas station job. Ill probably buy the 2 that I need for the job (well client is buying them at dealer cost) and then go from there. They have a good overall selection. Still Im sticking to the Kalatel DVRs and Hidden cams as well as the Provideo Bullets and a couple of their board cams, Kalatel PTZ, and ExtremeCCTV's IR. Its the pro cameras and fixed domes I like in the samsung techwin range, which are alot different from the other samsung, I am still confused, are there 2 of them??? Rory
  21. http://www.spytown.com/iksd4chdivir.html Anyone tried this yet, its cheaply priced. Rory

    Ikegami 4 channel DVR

they also have a single channel version, not sure what the price is though. Kalatel has a single channel VDR (DVR but no networking capability) for $400, but still, not as cheap as this one just barely. You can use the single channel with a supported mux. Rory

    GE Ultra View Camera

thats a rough vehicle! The one I got was terrible, but I was told that was a bad image chip or something so waiting to get it back, probably longer than I expected though as hurricane now hitting Florida and just leaving us. Anyway, what about the Samsung, do you know what WD technology they use on theirs? They have some day night versions, as well as Day night WD Domes. http://www.samsungtechwin.com/default.asp Those day images are some good shots by the way. I liek the wide angle looking out the window Rory
