Cool, I just got a price sheet from a sales rep, their price is much higher though, $700. Did you get it from Spytown, and was it that price of $450?

Pulling new cable would be too big of a disruption, and they want to use the existing network infrastructure. It would be extremely expensive to pull new cable, while use of the existing network is cheaper and easier. Why dont you just use Regular CCTV cameras, and some UTP devices such as www.NVT.com. You can use active UTP and will get very long distances with no video loss as they are amplified among others. They make multiple Active UTP or Passive UTP recievers, in 4, 8 and 16 channels, and single channel ones, as well as single or multiple channel transceviers or transmitters. Rory

http://www.thenassauguardian.com/bixex/283423639151125.php here we go... by tomorrow morn we'll have at least 40-50mph winds as its going direct north of us, those other islands are still devestated, they dont even have water, they have to import it and there are lines, basically it is crap situation. They will get the 100mph winds, again.. This season is killing our tourism industry and therefor our overall economy which was already bad, now its real bad, I cant remember the number of hotels that are closed for renovation, but it includes some major ones like Breezes. There are thousands without jobs now, and they were already poor. With this I am sure crime will increase as people have no money for food or water, there are still ,many people living in sheltors who lost their homes, and our government has no money to give anyone, they themselves are borrowing from the UN just for public works. And they claim anoither hurricane to hit us by next week friday!!

Why do they want IP cameras?
-
Yeah havent seen any very low lux WD cameras yet either. The Ultraview picture elements are 720H x 540V where their Exview camera is 811H x 508V. As for using in star or moonlight, try a day night, best of both worlds. If you really must have a wide dynamic, Panasonic has a range of day/night wide dynamic cameras. Pretty pricey though on the lowe lux models. If you need to see in very low lighting, use Infrared from Extreme CCTV. As for a camera outside your front door, is this your house? You can simply buy a mini dome or bullet camera, if you have enough lighting, just get an exview color and it will work fine, I have a 1 lux color dome and with car park lighting it works fine, the B/W Bullet from provideo I have is great, no real lighting issues at all. It cost me $137. You dont need to break the bank just to see who is outside your door. Rory

great review Does it have networking? Thanks Rory

Ok, got this camera for a job. All i get is major pixelised image, light levels change from near normal to what looks like a thermal im sage. Im getting ready to send this back and tell them just send me an exview camera one time with normal back light settings, cause this is crap. Any ideas?? No its not the lens, at least I used 2 seperate CS mount 1/3" Kalatel Lenses. I have changed all settings on the camera, and also reset to default, no change. The AI pot level doesnt do anything by the way. It looks like it will work ok for indoors for now, but i mean i have a cheap 1 lux dome outdoors that does a better job than this camera, and sees more bright in the outdoor lighting. thanks Rory

1 word: Wide Dynmamic Camera ok, 400TVl is not high res, 480+ is. What level of low light are your trying to get? Lower F-stop with the apprpriate camera will give yiu a low lux level, depends on the camera.

Best Place to buy Geovision

If you think that is bad. We have Home Depot advertising in our local newspaper here. That will basically close down tons of local hardware stores if they come in here, and they say they will be coming here. The government will never really let them, but they only need a post for locals to buy from them at much lower prices than local hardware stores do and plus the FTAA. Only a few hardware stores will survive. Im not making anything anyway in the CCTV area here, may get a couple big jobs in the next couple weeks if they come through ($50K+ but generally people want very cheap like eclipse and im not happy with that crap), most people are more interested in Satelite TV and car audio here and then share a home with their entire family as they spent all their money on other stuff. But still if someone in the US started the same thing with CCTV it would basically make me switch industries quicker. Though under law only Bahamians can install/own a security business here, 100% ownership. There are people here buying US direct cheap stuff all the time, and even some having americans come down and install them, I had a US Sales person for Matresses at a place I was working, ask where I was from in the US! I quickly told him i was a Bahamian and only Bahamians can work in this industry here. Really, only reason for this is the economy is soo bad here, americans come in work illegally with no papers and walk out with tons of money that is never spent in this country. The Hotels are the biggest culprits, they have a law here that allows hotels to bring in anything, duty free, and then they have even more rights such as hiring anyone they want from anywhere, so us Bahamians are totally out of the picture. We have to pay Duty on everything! My brother is off to Manchester UK as soon as he sells his car, I may be the next one to leave this 3rd world...once he settles in ..then Ill have somewhere to stay -

Yeah I worked on a couple win2k computers and it seemed more stable and faster than XP, never used it myself, dont have a 'copy' of the CD -
yeah I noticed, but darn, its 105Mph now, and we havent cleaned up from the last storm yet, one island (Freeport) is still under water, and thousands of people are without jobs from Hotel's closing and other businesses being destroyed ... $100+ million damage from Frances, for a 300K population country and more to come it seems.. worst damage is in the north islands, GB (Freeport), Abaco, Eleuthera, and even in the smaller ones in the south that got the 145mph for 24-48 hours and missed the eye! That said, Haiti is obliviated, hundreds if not thousands dead, thousands missing, an entire island disappeard and people missing, thats the worst hit from this entire season so far, and in many years. And that was from when Jeanne was a Tropical Storm (I think). And the people there already had so little, its sad and unfair, but I guess we dont control the weather.

-Take off everything besides Systray in MS config Start up. Get email with antivirus so no need to use an antivirus, I dont, havent got a virus in over a year. Install Spybot Search & Destroy - its free -Use Hardware Firewall - eg. router - not Zone Alarm -Use Tweakui, under mouse, menu speed to fast, under general only leave on Beep on errors, and always show keyboard indicators, in IR, uncheck allow Active Desktop and make changes to active desktop, -Disable any screen savers, -in Control Panel System, Performance, File System, change to Network Server, in Same, Troubleshooting, Disable System Restore, then delete all System Restore Files/Folders, -Add Remove, take off Desktop themes, MSN IM, Accessiblity, Imaging, Winpopup, -Automatic Updates, Disabled, -Power Options, up to you I take off hibernating for sure -In Any Folder likeMy computer, Tools, Folder Options, use windows classic desktop, use windows classic folders, -Display Settings, 16Bit not 32 -Install a Process Viewer so you can kill things that CTRL-ALT-DEL will not -Disk Cleanup and Defrag the bugger this is generally all I do and get a faster running OS out of ME than the same or more stripped down & tweaked XP, Basically dont let anything else run besides what is really needed, same goes for all windows OS's. PS. I have also been using Microsoft Personal Web Server since day one, even though MS sais it is not supported in ME, there is a way to install it, simple actually that it will install without a problem and run error free. dont know about 95, through that CD out a long time ago! But I remember, when I upgraded my system to I think it was a 450 AMD back in the day, I had to get a fix for the Mboard to work with the 450, or win 95 to work with it or something like that .. PS. I use every tweak known to ME. Reason I stuck with ME while people were still using 98, ME was much faster with tweaks. -
darn thing spun around, gained strenght, and is headed right back for us, arghh, this will mean no power or water again for days!! They were just cleaning up the yard today from the last hurricane, spent $1500 to clean it up, and they have to come back tomorrow, what a waste!! I guess tomorrow nigh I will be out taking down those ExtremeCCTV cameras again..

side by side on the same PC (My PC), (2.2Ghz Celleron, 512DDR RAM) windows ME tweaked runs faster than windows XP stripped down. Though granted windows XP doesnt 'always' have to shut down when there is an error like with ME, which is nice, and that along with driver issues i prefer now that my clients or people I know use XP, as it makes things easier and they dont always notice the speed difference, and they are mostly using new faster hardware anyway. I havent had a freeze on ME since i installed this new hardware, maybe going on a year now. I also run ME on a 600Mhz 120MB SDRAM Compaq latop, used it since the hurricane last 2 weeks as had to rebuild my PC, and it was fast, but like you said that is old hardware, I know fir sure XP would slug tremendously on that one. -

why dont they sell a stripple down version of windows, for us speed freaks, in other words we dont all need to have the features they have running as services etc, they can get rid of IE while they are at it, as ever since windows 98 came out with IE built in, the windows OS just got slower ....imagine windows 95 on a 2 or 3 GHz PC If the hardware can support it. ... yeah occasional blue screen or freeze though ... why dont they just copy Mac like they did before! and please, get rid of MSN Instant Give me Spyware, have had to disable it on many XP systems lately and its a pain when it keeps popping up with Outlook express, just extra work.. (had to clean major spyware/trojan bots off 10 PCs this week, and format one as it was quicker then the time it took to kill all the running recreating bots and find their reg keys, and hidden files spread all over the darn HD) these users just love to use IM and they let their kids go messaging every night so, i know ill be back .. MS should install Spybot Search & Destroy as a service instead of messanger .. -

Wasnt there another OS gaining popularity a couple years back, BOS or BSD or something like that?
