gotta take down some cameras tomorrow at a client's residence, just in case, they are right on the ocean and walways get direct hits including high swells, and taking down the alarm beams also, on the beach side. Maybe a couple more i have to take down will know by tomorrow. Plus we will know more by Thursday whether we are going to get it bad or not. The worst normally misses us due to low water and hits the US hard. Its like 100 degrees right now, i wish we had a draught to sit in right now, my AC is not working great! Plenty of stray cats and dogs come in my yard, I imagine ill see them scaterred all over the yard when its over

Thats what i want, but with a ceiling mount, like the pelco 4000 series, but otdoor. This is on the harbour so it has to be rust resistant also. ANyway, hurricane coming ill check it out next week
-
Hi Thanks Peter, unfortunatelty the first one is not weather resistant. I sell both actually now, but only for indoors. Ill still look around and see whats out there. Rory

Crestron Supports: http://www.crestron.com/dealer-tech_resources/modules/manufacturer.asp Looks like it does not. Seems only DVR it supports is Kalatel DVMRe. Many PTZ Supports though. You could probably write your own software to control it though if they provide the commands. Re: Mac Support: Network Software "Images are viewed remotely using Dedicated Micros FREE network viewer software, or via a standard Internet browser. Mac and Linux users can access the unit via web pages using Netscape 4.7x browsers." AMX: Unsure: Would need to email AMX or DM on that.

Let us know how it goes, will then get one myself

I may be wrong, but alot of the cheap DVRs that claim 120pps are doing that in low quality (VCR), then in high quality (720x480) normally goes down to 30 or 15pps??
-
Extreme CCTV EXREG, various units for different distances - not cheap though.

Its a 1/3" with 0.02 lux and Extended Infrared up to 1100nm, cant beat that in a compact camera of that size. It even works great with Invisible Infrared. 1/3" and 1/2" are really no different these days, I have used both, and found no difference in quality. Agreed it lacks some of the specs of the Full Camera, as it is compact and most settings are auto, but it does a great job. It does have an auto high speed electronic shutter by the way. Here is the Full Camera version, great specs, Ive used it and it is great in low light, or indoors in full light: http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/ktc_840CE_prd.pdf

You could use a Dome housing as you said. that will work, but depends if you will need to wall mount it, and make sure it is weather resistant. Kalatel has wall mount pendant Fixed Camera Dome Housings, designed for that camera. Their flush mount housing is unforunately not weather resistant, all the rest are. If you need exact specs or prices let me know ill send you a link with the dealer pricing etc. You could check Pach&Co, Batco, Videolarm, check out http://www.vsscctv.com/Section.asp?CatID=1005&SubCatID=11 for some ideas. This may work for you? May require some wall digging though. http://www.vsscctv.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=56 Once you get the camera right up to the glass, it should not be an issue. Another option is to have your own made. Plastic companies can handle it easily. They can weatherproof it and then just add a real glass seperately. then seal it good.

Id go with the Computar or Fujinon. Fujinon has been great so far for me. Both are great lenses, fujinon is the lower lux & wider lens in the specs you posted. Rory

I know what you mean. Im starting a seperate company/department just to do low end jobs. Will leave the higher end products for the higher end clients and keep the catalogues and company name seperate, or department seperate. Maybe ill call the low end one, Gravy CCTV, like for my gravy money, to pay for Food, Bills, etc!! Like you, im too just letting them use a TV on the lower end units mostly, especially home users who can use their existing TVs AV input. Let me know how that one is.

I dont see any Audio inputs on the Hunt one though, where Merlit Lim has one. Check out Hisharps 4 channel also, $569 dealer price. Removable HD. For the price, good quality playback and remote live video, remote search sucks though (at least in the 16 channel we bought for $1000)
-
How much is the Hunt one though? I imagine it is more than these? Hunt's DVR record quality is not that high thouge, 640x only. I may be wrong though, maybe all these low end DVRs may have the same quality level. Everfocus is around the same, playback of recorded Video is not as good as the more expensive units. HiSharp's 16 channel has higher quality playback, havent tried their $569 4 channel yet though so it may be different, their web site sais 720x480 though.

I was in a business that was using the 8 channel version, they dont have cameras 5-8 on actual buttons, you have to swicyth to that mode using one of the other buttons, for full screen I mean. Seems ok, cameras they were using were shabby so hard to tell. Uses same Remote Software as HiSharp and others, that common black DVR Software found on all cheap DVRs. Good pricing is right, is that the manufacturer selling direct though?? Ill check it out somemore and maybe someone else has tested these to let us know some hands on. From the specs, limited multi screen displays, compared to similar priced HiSharp. But it has a couple extra specs. Id be interested to know if you can back up a movie file using the remote software, as with the HiSharp using same software you cannot, only Jpeg. Rory

is this going indoors or outdoors, lots of light is required for a 1 lux camera.
-
Their prices are very good, im going to order a couple of them next week to test out. Rory

Anyone else tried these yet? http://www.dvrsurveillance.com/Surveillance_cameras/AM80-WD_dome.htm Any feedback..?

TV-Out Graphics cards

If using a direct input to a TV it is normally pretty good. Going through the RF Mod you will loose some quality. But its okay just to see if someone is there. Never used S-video to the rf mod though, may be better. -
ILL SAY ONE LAST THING IN THIS THREAD - NOWHERE - NOWHERE HERE DID I BRING UP ANYTHING ABOUT PC BEING LESS STABLE THAN STANDALONES OR VICE VERSA OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL - STOP BEING PARANOID...JUST LIKE KALATEL OR PHILLIPS OR ULTRACK YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT SALES ALSO. AND ITS MY OPINION WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, FROM EXPERIENCE OVER THE PAST 9 YEARS FROM USING WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS. LIKE IT OR NOT, IM ALLOWED AN OPINION JUST AS YOU ARE SO I WILL ALWAYS STATE IT REGARDLESS OF HOW SOMEONE ELSE MAY FEEL ONE DAY TO THE NEXT. LOVE IT OR HATE IT, I REALLY DONT CARE. peace.

Ive got stray dogs dragging my garbage out into the middle of the road every night; everynight wondering who's going to trip my alarm beams and whether it will be another violent conference with an armed robber, whether going to get shot or chapped with a machete arriving home every day/night, armed police getting gunned down let alone neighbors getting raped and robbed in broad daylight in their own home, price of gas, price of everything, bills up the wazoo, 3rd world fatigue, finding something to eat out besides fried chicken and BBQ ribs, hot weather, more hot weather, insects not know to human science yet, flatenned carcas of a dead cat run over and over for past 48 hours in the middle of the main road outside my appartment, UMMMM, I can go on but you get the point, YEP, there are more important things to worry about FOE REAL.
