iF the web server uses Java like Thomas' product, then the visitor to the web page will not have to download a plug in, unless they have browser problems with Java, which is rare. Anyway, connect the broadband modem to the video server, assign the IP address in the video server, and it will stream. In the web page you just make a call for that IP address using the tags for that particular video server, such as what Thomas just pointed out above. You can use Notepad to make the actual web page, that part does not matter, its what software the Video server uses that matters as to whether the person downloads a plug in or not. Most video servers have Java now a days, DVR Servers with Java are less common.

Assembled and Built are not the same thing, there is not one true CCTV Manufactorer in the US that I know of it ALL COMES FROM ASIA... here is a good quote from a good website Rory, even Alan told you they don't manke it but you beleive the hype buddy! I am so over you Rory, the Kalatel crashed many times when I tested it, there are plenty of good standalones here but the Kalatel is just way too slow and way oevrpriced...Youa re paying for a name and you are very wrong, I have sold manymany AVtechs and yes they arent as powerfull as the Kalatel but they cost nothing near it and most of the functions ytou speak of arent needed, god knows if they were Geo would be everywhere.. Why have none of mine crashed?????? and are you SURE the Avtech is an embedded linux, actually never checked because... NONE HAVE EVER FAILED.. (well 1 has actually) but I suspect it was bashed no PC watchdog in the AVtech!!! I didnt claim the the DM was faster, just better value and easier to use, none of them aree worth that amount of money there are many better that I have seen now there are some that do full pall at 480FPS Dont get cute on me RORY, I tested that ****** unit and you know I put a full report on here, you are a really arrogant bugger mate and I am sick of you sprouting off about how bad PC's and how wonderfull your kalatels are, how many DVR's have you sold mate... not many hay.. pays to do research.. and unless your selling them offshore! The kalatel is a good unit but not worth the money at all and No i never would have said anything negative about it at all except that yo so often and proudly make notes that PC's are unstable and poor qualioty machines

They would like to hear from anyone that claims they are not made in the USA, they are very commited to the fact that they build them in the US. StoreSafe 60pps, thats not slow. Im sorry the aussies are not getting a good DVR. AVTEch i would imagine (without looking at the web site) is embedded linux, a completely different OS from the ones used in Kalatel's and others. Linux sucks for stability, I have used 3 of them lately and they lock up alot. They require a PC Watchdog. Kalatel never lock up. Ive been using multiple Kalatel DVRs for the past 3 years so I would have locked them up by now if they were going to, these others locked up in the first couple days. I still sell them though as they are budget DVRS. Another thing you need to check with your Linux DVRs, when they claim 240pps that is in VCR quality, it is then 60pps in DVD quality, or if it is 120pps then it is 30pps equivelant, so they are just as 'slow'. ANd most of them are only 640x not 700x like in the Kalatels. Id like to know your opinion of the next best DVR above the Kalatel, if its DM then you havent used either much side by side. I tested the DM a couple times over the past month, doesnt compare to the equivelant Kalatel unit in many features, including speed. Once again, this is from first hand experience over the past 3 years, not just from buying one and saying it is 'like this' or 'like that'. I dont know what products you are getting over there, or even if you ever actually got one of the StoreSafe units, as you dont know anything about it from all your posts on it. Im not defending GE or Kalatel or anyone as noone pays my bills, I am just telling the facts as they have been for 3 years now. I think your predujice to Kalatel stands with the Sales Agent in Australia, not with the actual company. US Tech support is great, then again it is a US company.

the DVRs have PIP yes.

power supply, or video not properly grounded or shorting (connectors).

GE - General Electric - they are bigger then phillips, honeywell, etc. They dont just do Kalatel, in fact they only bought them a year or so ago. Kalatel is a part of GE Interlogix, one very small portion of the company. GE makes everything you can think of. you forgot samsung also
-
GE, whats bigger than that Anyway, no I doubt they are hurting. Korean products are really not underpricing by that much. I was doing price checking on Asian DVRs, at least Korean ones, and found them not to be much cheaper at all, to the Units with comparable features. Didnt know Hitachi was a player?? Taiwanese is much cheaper though, like everfocus, etc. They are big sellers in the low end market around here.
-
Nope, there are others, Kalatel (now owned by GE) is a major US manufacturer or DVRs. Actually Ultrack (now owned by Honeywell) has been used in Casinos in the US for many years, not Pelco. Pelco is well known for their PTZ (Spectra to be exact) not their DVRs. In fact, most casinos still use tape due to gaming regulations. Enterprise wise, so many new DVR companies popping up, people are using too many different brands to say one is more used than the other. All the big boys offer that same support.

Well they are not slow. I use them. They are strong and stable. The DVMRe PRO is a newer version that is 120pps at full DVD quality. The original units were 60pps. The StoreSafes were originally 30pps, now come in 60pps also. Which is a standard still for most stand alone DVRs. Most cheap linux DVRs only do 60, 30 or even 15pps in DVD quality, even though they advertise 120 or 240pps. The Kalatel Remote Software is powerful. I think the DVMRe PRO is more than is needed, most people dont need 120pps, plus the price is hefty. The StoreSafe 60pps is more than adequate. The DVMRe PRO is the same as the DVMRe-CT but it comes with a built in CDR or DVR, same shape as the StoreSafe but in Black, and comes in 120pps instead of 60pps. I will compare them to Dedicated Micros for example. DM is not real time live display in 9 way as is the DVMRe (at least not the 16 channel units I tested), and lacks software features of the Kalatel's WaveReader, especially the Multi Site feature, as well as the more advanced search features and Disk analysis that come with the Kalatel. The DM is also more expensive on this side of the world. Dont get me wrong, DM is still a great unit, next to the Kalatel unit, it was my first choice until I tested the Kalatel DVRs. If I were in the UK i would use the DM as it would probably be cheaper and still has near enough to the same features. Rory

thats not 'hogwash' whatever that means. Their support is the best I have encountered, among the DVRs I listed, I dont know where you are getting that their support is terrible, I have never had an issue. I have also dealt direct with Korean DVR manufacturers recently, and none of their products have yet to give me the features of a Kalatel DVR, plus they are only like $500 less. I then also have to buy 100 units to get that price! If you look at their sales pitch, they claim 120pps or 240pps in the stand alones, but then if you look closer, that is at VCR quality, when you go to close to DVD quality, as the Kalatels are, then you get 30pps or 60pps, so they false advertise. I do wish the prices would drop, but then they are still cheaper than Dedicated Micros and Phillips and Pelco and Ultrack, so they arent that overpriced. If you check the Kalatel prices now, you will notice their 16 channel StoreSafes have dropped by almost $1000 in price since they have brought out the new 60pps StoreSafes and the DVMRe with DVD and 120pps. And on the other note, you are definately not getting the same unit if buying the cheap unit, I have use the cheap Linux ones, and they are crap compared to the Kalatel Units, but for home or cheap retail use they are fine. In fact I have one running here at my own appartment. Though like i said dont expect a strong unit, it is okay and pretty stable, but does not compare to a higher end unit that cost more. I imagine as it is built in the US, the Kalatel units are going to be more expensive in Australia, so If i lived ther myself, it would not be feasable to sell their units. DVR, what you are doing is basically comparing something like saying an AMD Duron board is similar to a Intel P4, but ofcourse one performs better.

Where is the best place to buy a 1/2" 12mm f0.8 lens
rory replied to Tim's topic in Security Cameras
Cool. Yes, F:0.8 would provide lower lighting, depending on the camera. For example, this is an Exview 0.02 Lux Color Camera: F:0.95 F:1.2 .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/portfolio.asp#top -
all the big names seem to provide great support, small names just want the sale then to move on. Appart from Extreme CCTV, who is the best tech support Ive seen with any products yet but that is cameras, GE has been very good in the DVR area, and product manuals that come with it are extensive, Everfocus, basic support, HiSharp barely any, provideo same. Everfocus, HiSharp, and Provideo all locked up the DVR while accessing on a slow LAN, GE Never. You always pay extra for the product with better support and more stability.

Yeah I saw that town getting wiped out on CNN. Also my mother was in a bus from bideford to exeter and when they arrived they found out part of the road they were just traveling on had been wiped out by a flash flood. We had our share of heavy rain here actually, in just a couple hours one day, we had enough rain to totally cover a car down one street, that was in an area with bad/no drainage though, which is most of nassau, plus then we have loan contamination. You'd love the outislands though, my Dad is down in Long Island right now, there's no crime, its clean, and great beaches. That is where the real paradise still is. No work there though.

Thanks thomas You know your stuff .. Im a little behind these days (well majorly), spent to much time over the past 6 years in the alarm industry, then the last 3 in the CCTV Im tyring to get back up.. wont be easy, or cheap .. (I was one of those DOS geeks back in the day, and started making web sites from when windows 95 first came out, and writing ASP sites from almost day 1 of ASP, never gave up the web development just took a break on and off) I know the standard stuff, just not too deep. From the product PDFs that General Solutions sent me, their products are Still Sijnon, but some are not. And Sujnon told me they are coming to the US in a couple days to try to find new distributors, dont know what that means. To be honest, unless they lower their pricing, it makes more sense just to buy GE Kalatel DVRs, as their prices are not much different. One thing I have noticed that the Korean DVRs all lack one thing or another, between them. They all claim to have either 120pps or 240pps, but that is really only 30pps or 60pps in DVD quality which is the standard in the GE Kalatel and other brand's DVRs. In other words, the speeds they spec are in VCR quality. If they had better specs, or the prices were in the Everfocus range, then it would be worth it. To get good prices, you have to buy 100 of them from the manufacturer, and most small companies cant afford that.

Id imagine rain could get in through the holes in the bottom though, at least with the heavy summer rains. I know, the UK has more rain that anywhere, was just thinking Hey, My mother is over there now down in Devon, been for a few weeks, says its raining and cold! My brother is leaving end of this month for manchester for good.

whats the difference between these, SCSI, Promise PCI Cards, etc?

how about a cheap fridge, turn the cooling down, just enough to keep the DVR going

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please
rory replied to cctv_down_under's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
you can see it from the side no problem. -
Yes that should work to All you are doing is using the monitor out to the VCR and hit record when you play back some recorded video you want to record onto the VCR, or in your case the PCI card.

you could make the sign yourself, just design it as a BMP and take it to a sign or plastic shop. for example:
