1. Maybe get the DVR separate then add any camera you want to it. That way you arent stuck with just the cameras those kits come with. Check out the Dahua for something that is reasonably priced and still offers many features.

CCTV for convenience stores

Geo has free 32 channel NVR software built in now, though its only free for their IP cameras. Also newer Geo needs a super computer.
3. There is a whole section dedicated to this. Thread moved to appropriate forum.
4. Example - only connected 10 times but PSS lets you use a device more than once so was able to test it in 121 way multiview. I had an IP conflict when trying to edit though as they are all the same IPs in this test, but otherwise can edit that outside of PSS using the XML file and PSS doesnt seem to care otherwise. NOTE: with the DVR set to D1 my CPU was at 100% after adding many cameras as its a P4 3.0Ghz, so had to set the cameras to QCif to test this and worked fine, although close to 100% - so yes you need a powerful computer (and network) to handle D1x 121 cameras. This is the full PSS 4.04.6.
5. Default in 4.04+ is 50 max devices and 64 max channels. Here is a tweak of the PSS_Config.ini file which will give you the option for up to 121 way multiview (11x11) and 1000 max devices. I tested it with 999 devices and it loads them in the device list and can manually edit each one, tested connecting to my 4 channel DVR 10 times and it worked using device numbers 999 etc. Dont have over 50 devices to test and definitely not 1000 devices nor a computer that can handle it So it may still only allow connection to 50 devices. Maybe someone else can test that. Open in notepad and edit the values for the following fields then save the file. DevMaxCount=1000 VideoWndMax=121 MulSubChannel=1

Anyone on here into cars??

i like to use them to get from A to B, does that count? I prefer big powerful Jeeps though, take the potholes better.

Routers go flaky?

Our Cable comes in on the poles and they like to get hit when lightning strikes around here .. most common cause for those failures here.

IR Illuminator doubt

IR not strong enough. short distance. Not enough reflective objects within the IR range.

Routers go flaky?

Yes, switched out plenty bad routers over the years. Seen them do all kinds of trippy things. Also replaced many Cable Modems .. or had the Client get the Cable company to do so (they have a policy). But those were more likely damage from lightning, which ofcourse may also be to blame for some of the bad routers. We now pay $2 a month lightning insurance to the Cable company, so if the modem gets hit least its free to replace. Powers been off at least 5 times in the past 3 days, 2-4 hours a time, that surely doesnt help either.
10. no name for camera in this test just thought this was kind of interesting so figured I would share the results. purpose of this post is just to show with some modifications, even the cheapest IR camera might catch a license plate. If this type of camera had some settings then we could actually get it to work, unfortunately it just has focus and thats it. varifocal Color IR with 4-8mm lens. Focus adjustments external, on rear - note, no way to lock the focus in so knock camera and comes out of focus. Infrared nowhere near the distance of the True Day Night IR Bullets, also washed out colors in the daytime, but this camera is half the price. First in wide angle Zoomed in a little ... Obviously no smart IR ... Now the lens is zoomed in to the max, 8mm. With lights on in car park With lights off, hand over top section of Infrared LEDs hand still over but less obvious ...
11. No introduction? You works for a light company?

Test of color IR varifocal bullet

Yep, In reference to Day Night Infrared cameras: Color IR camera = No IR cut filter TDN or True Day Night = Mechanically Removable IR Cut Filter In reference to non Infrared Day Night cameras: Digital Day Night = No IR cut filter TDN or True Day Night = Mechanically Removable IR Cut Filter Most color only cameras have a fixed Infrared Cut filter that typically cannot be removed.

I live in a country with similar "gun control" - it doesnt work, all the criminals have guns and most even more powerful than the cops guns. The head cop said the other day he didnt want to see civilians with guns, that it is his job, what else would he do if we the civilians were to defend ourselves - LOL. THing is, even though guns are outlawed here other than shotguns and some rifles for pigeon shooting, most businesses have them for self defense anyway ... im not seeing that happening in the UK though ... here there would be dead rioters all over the place, even if not from guns, from machetes and our own bottles and conch shells! Looks like the UK cops are more concerned with video recording the rioters instead of putting them down where they stand.

problem with 50 mtr ir bullet camera

couple basic things to check first. clean the camera housing. Things like spider webs you may not see in the day can wreak havoc with built in IR at night, its like an object blocking the light so it bounces back into the camera. Water marks from rain can also cause some issues. if recently removed the cover make sure any rubber ring around the lens was put back tight against the cover so the IR doesnt reflect back into the lens.

Coax VS Cat5

Guys, please stay on topic, this is coax vs cat5 not coax vs IP! There are hundreds of threads on that already. Thanks

Yes but good people wouldnt do it regardless of repercussions or not. Cant always depend on the police or the law to tell us what to do, we should know better.

looks like the citizens have had enough and joining the coppers to run the terrorists out of town http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d1f_1312930822 Yep no guns ... nothing .. well i saw them with dogs at one point ... biting a few rioters .. i would most certainly at least grab a gardening tool or something to deal with thugs looting and burning down stores in my community.

what are "hybrid IR Illuminators"

by the way .. this is an example to show the strength of the IR beam or other visible light, not exact but good enough to give a pretty decent idea. examples show: Original, Negative, Polarized. In Negative the darker areas mean more light In Polarized the whiter areas mean more light Your new camera is probably alot more sensitive to low light and is switching to Black and White unlike the old one, so automatically it will see more under low light conditions even without the IR. and just to show that this kind of editing is generally spot on (no pun intended)

what are "hybrid IR Illuminators"

or perhaps they mean hybrid as in 930nm instead of 830nm so it is covert? Manufacturers use different wording. You actually loose IR distance with 930nm over 830nm.

what are "hybrid IR Illuminators"

far as I know it just means it has 2 ways the LEDs are set, some for longer distance and a smaller beam, and others for a closer wider beam. Thats not that far actually going by the other images, and I can see additional light provided by the street lighting, just that the other cameras were likely very cheap and lacking. eg. none of these are hybrid IR, this is a totally pitch dark larger scenario

They did not know this until now and even so the investigation is ongoing awaiting DNA tests. And it still doesnt explain the looting and burning of communities the fools have to live in, and attacking innocent civilians. The ones doing this after the initial protest are nothing but thugs and criminals. Citizens need to get together groups with machetes and bats and deal with these terrorists, since the police obviously cannot protect anyone there. Stop being so nice and just put them down, it amazes me that in a country where they get so much government assistance they still complain its not enough, try living in a real ghetto with no money and no food, no shoes, no running water, no toilet, electricity always going off or none at all, and no government assistance .. then they might be able to talk. An entire family setup shop across the road from me selling fruit, their kids have no shoes, baby has no milk, they are selling fruit they picked out in the 100+ degree heat, no hope for the future of their kids, yet they will stand out there all day and do something, so that they can at least buy some water and rice to feed their kids - they are doing something, anything but riot and burn down their community, they would be content with running water at home, meanwhile the thugs that riot and loot arent content without stealing nike, wii consoles and big screen LCDs.

Was wondering when their police were going to get serious, non stop video of police being beat back and civilians being beaten and robbed and homes and businesses being looted and burned ... and yet the police seemed useless all this time ... battons cant fight petrol bombs ... they need some real fire power. They need to stop calling them protesters and criminals and call them what they are, terrorists, and deal with them accordingly. Unfortunately though some misguided kids are also involved so it makes it that much harder.
24. No they dont have that DVR yet according to the site and the one in the link above is not it either, this is the one I was talking about: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=903&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3= 24TB internal(3TB each drive), and additional 12TB using eSata. 960 pixels X ... its beyond D1, made for the Effio 960H chips. May be a while before it reaches the US and probably not cheap. The one you linked to is the regular Full D1 unit with a blue ray installed instead of a Dvdrw, neither of which i ever use anyway. in fact with that one, just remove the blue ray or dvdrw and have room for 8 HDDs which is 16TB. I havent found a client with a blank DVD in years now, and never even seen a blueray drive or disk on this island, its all USB and network backup now. One client buys 2GB disposable jump drives for under $5 each in the US and just gives those to the cops. The Full D1 unit is all most need anyway, unless one really wants the extra space or has 960H cameras.
25. It is the true manufacturer, and is resold by many other brands. If you want a Dahua DVR on this side of the globe typically you buy it under one of the other brand names. This is the Realtime D1 (4CIF really) model normally sold in the US http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=677&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3= The 2U units fit up to 8 SATA Drives (2TB each at this time), normally they are sold with a DVDRW taking up 2 spots, though it can be replaced with HDDs easily. They also have this new model but not sure when it will be available from resellers 24TB internal, 12TB using eSata, 960×576 pixels (for Effio cameras) http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=903&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3=
