Price on Running RG59 Siemese Cable
rory replied to rory's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
cool thanks guys -
ill take another look at it, thanks. When I say government services, I meant things like the health services, welfare, public utilities, road upkeep, etc. Ours are either non existant or 3rd world at the best. I know im going to need money to move there, either way, or whereever I go, so Im going to stick it out for now. I just got a 9-5 job for a local alarm company with the ability to go out and do quotes and CCTV jobs also, so its mostly a base salary for IT and TEch support, alarm tech, etc. I just pumped out 5 CCTV quotes since yesterday so it looks like it may work out. Looks like the bank might take my jeep again though hopefully they can wait until next week. Also, have you used the Baxall cameras? Just wondering how they are, and how about their DVRs? Would probably be too expensive to sell here after bringing them in from the UK but still want to know.. Rory

depends on the type of home, walls, attic, etc.
-
no prob. the extreme stuff isnt cheap, but what they say is what you get. you can email them direct for support from their site, or let me know, I have every spec sheet for them, and have used a few of their products. Rory

I agree there are some high prices in London. Though you guys have alot more goverment services which we do not enjoy down here, and our average salaries are around $150 a week, with cost of living much higher than say New York City. Down here, unless you are rolling in money, you are living in a wooden shack eating hot dogs for dinner wearing the same clothes for a week on end. The rain and TV in the UK is the biggest drawback for me! Not sure it will be London for me, maybe south of england, or more north like Manchester where my brother is going, and we have some family in both areas.

Im not in the UK, but I noticed Baxall has some great cameras, they are in the UK. Otherwise try Phillips they are great also. They are 'normal' prices. You will get what you pay for in a camera. COP is about the cheapest 'stuff' you will find, at least on this side of the world, dont know what they charge in the UK, I dont use them myself anymore for certain well known reasons, they are same quality as Eclipse, Mace, etc. On the cheaper end, I sell Provideo, 'some' of their cameras are from Sunkwang in Asia. Dont know where they get the others from like the H.E.A.T. but provideo is based in NY, USA. Otherwise i sell GE, or Phillips when GE isnt available, all higher end. Good luck. Rory

Try WizKid or Extreme CCTV, their IR works, I used COP before, and even tried Provideo's etc, but the only good response outdoors I have had is with WizKd and Extreme, same company, but Wizkid is cheaper version. www.ExtremeCCTV.com - WizKids link is on their site also. Rory

Contacted them, they have no distributor in the US as yet. They have some really good looking embedded DVRs, kind of slow as DVR would say, except in the 4 channel units, which are 120pps, 30pps in the 8 and 16 channel versions, but nice units either way. Jog Dial, CDRW, Audio, etc. Ill take a closer look at the PDF's they sent, let us know how it works out? They are coming over mid august for a US sales trip. Dont know if they are going to visit us yet here in the Bahamas, but I offored. They may only be coming to the West Coast of the US. They also have some good specs on the networked audio recording devices, which come with COMs for custom apps, eg. add to a Kalatel or other DVR, for 16+ audio ports, for live audio, integrated into your custom SDK or COM DVR remote live software. Sweet stuff Rory -
I think Sunkwang makes some of the US based Provideo cameras. Good products.
-
will try to get my hands on the everfocus 16 channel stand alone DVR to test out on the network, its curently in use, but they are supposed to be changing it as it was sent by mistake, instead of a Kalatel which they paid for! Its a colleagues, not mine. Played around with a 4 channel Dedicated Micros D4 by the way, its good, neat looking unit, but for $500+ more than the StoreSafe, with no CD built in, network software with less features, it is not worth it, on this side of the world, in the UK it could be, as maybe it is cheaper there being it is a UK product. Rory

the dynacolor has a java based browser software, identical loading image as the Provideo DVR/16, but much clearer video and more of a remote video application, maybe they use the same web server, but just made it better than the one Provideo uses. Remote on the Provideo in multi screen is terrible, I mean you can really not make anything out, full screen is ok, but stil not great. I dont think its designed as a remote video device, but has the option if needed. The CDR is nice though.
-
pricing is double, like $2000. Specs are good and they look great, but.... when you get up in that range for an embedded, may as well use a Kalatel or DM or similar, unless they are going to 'give' me a free test DVR, which they wont, only 10% off. May still look at it, would be easier for some one from this forum in cali to go in and test it out. Rory
-
Who Spytown?? Their prices are dealer prices, so unless you are a distributor, you wont generally find it cheaper, retail is much more also. Ive never bought from them but use their pricing list for info on other products, they have been around at least over 2 years since ive been looking. Rory

Lower End 16 channel DVRs:: Provideo: ======= Embedded Linux. Good DVR with CDRW, but no real remote network software. Local monitor output quality is not great, but a recorded video on the CDR played on the PC is good quality, similar to Kalatel/DM. Simple to use. CDR is a plus. Plays back from the CDR also in the DVR. Price: $1200. HiSharp: ====== Embedded RTOS. Good quality local image and remote video image. Remote video software is easy to use, but very limited, basically not no features, and remote search is very bad, does not work most of the time, properly. Good price: $1000, 120GB HDD. Only save as Jpeg, this is its downflaw. Needs a CDR or at least to save video. Real time live display is a plus, 30pps recording on 16 channels a con. Price: $1000. -------------------------------------------------- So, in the $1000 price range for an embedded DVR, if these units were both put together would have a nice unit with CDR and good quality local and remote video. Both need better network software or at least a SDK or COM. Anyone else got links to a DVR with CDR, embedded, in this price range, available in the US. Thanks Rory
-
and the price: http://www.spytown.com/alalacdualou.html But thats 8 channels of 24VAC and 8 channels of 12VDC, you'd probably need the ALTV1216 power supply, around the same price. Rory
-
I need to get my hands on a copy of that version )) Ok so HiSharp is ok to use for a low end DVR, I was hoping, as its a good price, only had it running a few days now so wasnt sure. While on that, do you know why their spec sheet sais you can save a recording as an Avi, but the software itself only does Jpeg? Thanks Rory
-
as you can see I didnt say all embedded were great as you are right, there is a lot of junk out there in the low end market. Sounds like I shouldnt be selling the HiSharp from what you are saying? Though I like some of its features, but it doesnt back up as a video file, just an image file or to VCR. I agree though, not all PC systems should be written off.
-
I can only say, I have never had a service call to a Stand Alone unit, but then that is all Kalatel DVRs, over the past 3 years. Windows is windows, there is no way around it, it is typically an unstable OS, that is why people like Linux and MACs. People that try to compare a PC DVR as stable as an embedded unit, are doing it for thier own personal reasons, its like comparing a V4 to a V8. It takes me 5-10 minutes to demo a Kalatel DVR, and the user is happy and knows what they are doing. Though after using a couple cheap Asian embedded DVRs, I can see that those type of DVRs are not that great. Sounds like your PC DVR is the exception to the rule, 64K Windows OS??? PS. The HiSharp does not compare at all to a Kalatel DVR, it is a very very cheap low end DVR. Though it has a couple nice local live features for a low end DVR.
-
what, cant face the facts?? I have used the stand alones, and know what they do and cannot do, so I will always respond to something that is or is not true, if I know something about it that the person that posts does not, which is in this case. You tested a StoreSafe DVR, the low end of the Kalatel, that does not say you have tested the Kalatel DVRs and know everything about them, just like comparing the Dedicated D4 with the other DM units, it does not compare. You are the one that brought up the comparison between embedded and PCI cards, not me. I guess too much fosters or xxx today 'ay! on the subject, ive recently used 2 PC Dvrs, and they sucked, had 700x400 res, or something like that, and full screen quality locally cant compare to a real CCTV mux, but then thats only 2 PC DVR products, so I cant comment on how GEO is, or others, get it??? Mind you being in the US side of the world, when I get some extra cash, im going to buy a PC card from Thomas, as US gets better support and from what I have seen, make higher quality products .... he he Ive got plenty of posts, you will need to keep up
