How much Salary could I get

id still like to visit that bugger in australia one day and have a fosters!! my australian cousins just left today back to Adalaide, they were only here for 3 days. they cannot pay enough for your knowledge I think if you came here you would take things over.. that said, salaries are too low here, and cost of living is way too high, way more than the UK. The thing is, is not to work for anyone else, here anyway.

    monitor/tv

yes, if your TV has a RCA input, though you will need a BNC Female - RCA Male, if using a coax cable, or if using a RCA Male - RCA male cable, you will need a BNC female - RCA female adapter. If your camera has a Svideo output, use a Svideo cable to the TV, if the TV has Svideo. Then goto Inputs/aux on the TV to view the video. Rory

reasonable price is out the window with GE... But it does integrate with their DVRs, Access, and Alarms, simple plug and play. Ofcourse you still have to do some work, like plug the cables into the PC from the DVRs. They have ready loaded systems also.

    Kalatel or Dedicated Micro DVR

The CT is worth it over the EZ version, though some somewhat minor improvements, the CT is a better choice. I dont sell the EZ anymore.

  13. Alarm Systems & CCTV. I was looking at Baxall and they seem to have a wide range of great products, also noticed Norbain has alot of products, and the Vista series of DVR is identical to GE's DVMRe's. What are the brands of alarm systems used there primarily, where Ademco and GE are large in the US, I dont see them being that popular over there?? Ive had 6 years working in day to day service and installs on Ademco Burglar Alarm Systems. Do they have anything similar to Provideo Bullet cameras over there, as I wouldnt want to have to order direct from Asia as its still too far. Looks like if I move there, Im going to have to learn everything all over again! Or take a job in a hotel or on a farm Thanks Rory

    Kalatel or Dedicated Micro DVR

Thomas, its an IBM Power PC powered micro computer board. http://www-1.ibm.com/technology/power/about.html and it runs this RTOS: http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com/
  19. If you need a built in CDRW, then the storesafe would be your choice, but It would be better to use the DVMR-CT for its features and its faster, then use the network to burn to CD from your PC. I havent got any prices on them yet myself, and wont sell them anyway until GE has some specs available, which they do not yet, Ijust emailed their engineers again, nothing yet, maybe in a week or so. The DVMRe-CT currently has 40Gb - 1000GB storage availability, but price is heavy anywhere from 640 and up. DVMRe-CT: 60pps instead of 30pps on the StoreSafe. SVHS Monitor Output, Multiple Video Outputs, More Multiple Screens, Auto Camera Connection, much more. Larger hard disk drives, smaller unit. With the StoreSafe and the DVMRe-EZ if you disconnect a camera or a camera has video loss, then re-connect a new camera or the same, you would have to restart the DVR to re-find the cameras, with the DVMRe-CT, it finds it automatically. Also the CT remembers the previous monitor screen display, and has better recording technology. Yes - sought of. DVD would be nice for some instances. I had an instance where the police did not know when an incident took place, and knew it was between say 3pm and 9pm. They didnt want to sit down and look at the entire video at the location. So they had to burn it to CDRW, which basically with 8 cameras recording at 5pps, took several CDs, where a couple DVDs would have done the job. But that doesnt happen much. For normal circumstances a CD is fine. The DVMRe-CT also has firewire if that helps, havent used it myself to back up though. They will be pricey because of the extra features and ofcourse the DVDRW. No pricing yet, waiting. No specsheet yet so I wouldnt buy it yet anyway. The StoreSafe is their lower end. I only use the StoreSafe now for 4 channel systems, 10-16 channel systems are cheaper in the DVMRe-CT than the StoreSafe, and the DVMRe-CT is faster and has more features. Only one better is the DVMRe-Matrix, which has 5 multiple monitor outputs (instead of only 2 like on the DVMRe-CT or 1 on the StoreSafe), it is a matrix system which is better, but as it starts at 640Gb it is very very pricey. If you want even more features, audio and real time video on every channel, and tons more, they have the clear cast DVRs, can rack mount for 1000's of cameras, but that is designed for casinos or enterprise applications so it costs even more. Hope this helps. The DVMRe-CT will be faster and cheaper for 10+ cameras. It doesnt have the CDRW and that is the only draw back, but if you have a local network you can save the video and burn it right over the network, i have even done this over the internet before. If you are recording on motion only, then you get a long time. If using timelapse, on 13 cameras as an example, recording 20pps (which is faster than you need to record at, 5pps is standard) you would get 9 days on a 320GB. I am getting almost 3 months now on 3 cameras on a 40Gb with motion at 8pps, which is real time when using motion. Basically, when 1 camera picks up motion, it goes into the full 30pps, if 2 are picking up motion, it splits it up to 15pps each camera, and so on. Rory

    What DVR is this?

Ok, tested it out. Basically, all it lets you do is save Jpeg Images, no video, but you can do this remotely. It ofcourse has the ability as any other to back up to VCR from the monitor output. So basically, live Remote Video is good, great quality, practically the same as the Kalatel quality local and remote, but little to no remote features. Local features are great, except lacking back up features. Remote/network searching is like pulling teeth, I gave up after a while, couldnt get it to work properly. It kept going back to the beginning. Maybe I have to wait till tomorrow, we just hooked it up this evening. Anyway, for $1000 for a 16 channel, or $500 for a 4 channel, its still a good unit for small retails or home users who dont want to spend the big bucks to get the better product. Most of them at least here, dont even have a PC anyway, and the courts still use VCRs even with the Kalatel units. Seems if you want to get the same features, good live remote quality, but with a CDRW and better search features, you have to pay around $2000 for a different brand. These prices are all dealer pricing, not distributor, I cant afford to be a distributor nor purchase direct from Asia. They want too much volume. One more thing, its just Simplex, and also, while in search/playback mode remotely, it stops recording locally, so it sais in the manual, though the record light stays on at the DVR. Plus, only 1 remote user at a time. But hey, like i said, low end right?! Local playback is actually very good, and great quality. Rory

    What DVR is this?

thanks, i knew someone here would recognise it I like the little AOL type man with motion detection, its neat, and yep is easy to network and has quite a few interesting features, especially for a cheap DVR. Remote Software is pretty simple, looks like the same one alot of others use, I cant get it to switch different cameras though, I need to play with it some more. Thanks again Rory

    This DVR any good?

i just hooked up a 16 channel OEM DVR, supposed to be Appro, but no name anywhere, but, good unit, has most functions and some more features others dont. Quality is good, and though Remote Video software is very basic, it is good quality, and can search for recorded video. Removable Hard Drive with optional internal HDs, and optional rack mount SCSI hard drive storage, specific to the DVR manufacturer, up to 2 rack units. i will post more info once i test the software some more. Its linux RTOS. $1000 dealer price in Florida.
