I need to know the following for Visual Basic. 852x480, what i need to know what the conversion will be so I can set the size of a form in VB to 852 and 480 in height, height not being as required as the width is though.

darn, i need a PC like that! Did you build it yourself, and how much? I dont need it for cctv, just for other work, programming, and downloading MP3s!

http://www.vsscctv.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=445 or this one if the DVR is standard sized. You could leave out the monitor, just use a Portable LCD when you need to.

Reccomendations on Video Monitoring for Alarm Mon Co
rory replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Whoops, no it seems it is simply a local DVR with a video server built in. Im looking for something at the remote end, not local. Locally I can just use any IP camera. Remeber we have to charge people monthy monitoring, so it has to be not that expensive, or at least the remote end can handle lots of IPs by not spending $10K for just 16 camera support. -

just had the distributor from miami down here, ad we were duscussing a small mall electronics store here that also sells, mace, small weapons, security cameras, etc. He said they sell the MAce line of cctv, and that Mace is very very cheap stuff, even cheaper than Eclipse or Everfocus, probably in the range of COP USA. Hope this helps Probably a big seller to DIYers and home users.

Standalone/Embedded DVR with CDR capabilities?
rory replied to knightvision's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I was just told the DVMRe PRO is out with 120pps, and a DVDRW, which normally means you get up to 4GB?? Is this correct? I also hear there is a StoreSafe PRO which now has 60pps and still the same CDRW. Both have SCSI ports so you can connect RAID, DAT, or a DVSe Digital Storage Device, rack mountable. They also have Firewire for other back ups. -
Standalone/Embedded DVR with CDR capabilities?

any show of that DVR yet in the UK, I have heard of it but nothing yet on this side. -
And dont forget GE that uses Wavelet, on the Nucleous Embedded RTOS,I think others are using this now also, mostly the more expensive embedded. Embedded Linux I think is the most common and lower priced, probably because it is generally a free OS. Linux can pretty much do anything a PC based DVR card can do, correct me if Im wrong, just from observation of demos and links on this forum.

Ok, here's the deal guys. My investor wants us tp sell both Kalatel and then a lower end unit, to give options. We cannot go the PCI card route as well we want to get in an out, and do the jobs quick and easy, and have as stable a system as can get. Anyway. so basically Im looking for an all in one unit. It does not have to have a CDRW. It does not have to have all the features of Kalatel, or PCI dvrs. It does need to have a farely good remote video option. It does have to be cheap. And, it does need to be available in the US from distributors. IT does have to be available on the East Coast, no manu's on the West Coats. Provideo does not look like it will cut it, neither everfocus. AVtech looks good, but who sells it in the US? However, I do have a connection in Florida that could bring it in and store it in a bonded warehouse to then ship to us, if it is worth it. Any ideas? Thanks Rory

Anyone have any hands on reviews/pricing of these products? They look interesting.. http://www.amexsecurity.com/store/shopexd.asp?id=62 http://www.optex.co.jp/e/sec/visual/wt1500.html

Oh yeah, I found them from a google ad to a page that had a link to them and also vendoma, among others! http://www.homesecurityandalarms.com/cctv-video-surveillance.aspx http://www.homesecurityandalarms.com/surveillance-equipment-checklist.aspx they must have a great sales team and some serious marketing funds!
-
Yep, thats what I mean, great sales pitch there! Sounds alot like the sales people on TV that are selling how to get rich off the government, selling PCs, or body enhancements. Its like someone gave the sales guy some info and he went above and beyond with it! But then that is marketing I guess. If I didnt know any better, id pull out my credit card in a flash!

here is what the Hunt looks like over the web: This is a 0.9 lux version, the newer ones are lower lux levels now. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/11-43-56-PM.bmp http://www.huntcctv.com/24VAC%20COLOR%20vandal%20proof%20Dome%20cameras.htm And the GE Varifocal 5" Auto Iris Dome: Approx $100 more http://www.bahamassecurity.com/12-11-33-AM.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/9-34-45-PM.bmp

Actually just took another glance at joe's requirements, if the cameras are to be used in classrooms, you may want to go with at least an indoor mini dome, or even vandal resistant. But then it gets a little more costly, at least in the GE, Sony, Phillips, etc range. IF you only want to spend $200 a mini dome, you may want to look at something like Vitek or hunt or Provideo. I have had a Hunt Color Vandal Resistant Dome outdoors at a night club now for 2 years with no issues. i dont really sell them at this point, as it hasnt been my target clients, but it is still a good enough high resolution dome. If you are on the west coast, take a look at Vitek at www.VSSCCTV.com. http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=165

What is it? Do you have a link? Rory
-
Its a good camera, but it is not very low light (0.8 lux), Exview normally has a lower lux level. Also, on top of the price of the camera, you will need a lense and a housing if outside, or mount if indoors.

The stand alone DVR does everything a consumer needs in a DVR, is simple to install and use, and is normally more stable than using a home PC. Unless you are a Casino or truly require 24/7 real time video (non motion - recording all the time 30pps each camera) on all cameras, then the standalone will be perfect. Ofcourse each stand alone is different, and the less you pay for one, the less features it will 'normally' have.
-
yep, i like the look of the optex though, its small, but dont know if they even sell them yet on this side of the world.
-
obviously not, the main software is embedded on the DVR, but as GEO's is windows software and it is not run from the card, they should allow people to demo it. I guess like you said, they are afraid of pirating. I havent seen any other PC DVR card software that wont run without the card, if anything it will give an error or not function, but will still open up. Anyhow, It doesnt matter, I was only curious.

thanks, ill check it out.

And if so, which type of VCR should we buy for this? Thanks Rory PS. this is non security related tape
