Since i would be using a GE Kalatel DVR, I would use their Probridge POS interface, their network software has full capability to view POS and ATM transactions. Rory

sorry cant help you there, i only do cctv now, have never got involved with the pos industry when i was doing computers. I did however demo one earlier this year, works great, I have a colleague that has these installed in all of their electronic stores, using a touch screen etc, 'Retail Assistant', http://www.dynascan.com/, probably the one I will be using for my new business. Are we talking about POS interfaces with DVRs, or POS software? Most DVR brands have POS interfaces made by themselves that will integrate with most POS. Rory

herm, whers the demo See, i have no problem with buy an asian product, once I get it in the US, it has to be from a US company, no matter who builds it. I can get a Sony Cam Corder cheaper in Asia, but im not about to buy one from there, im going US!
-
almost every major corporation has a manufacturing plant in another country, where ever it is the cheapest to build the product, that doesnt mean it is not designed in country. Take India for example, cheapest labour, along with Malasia. Only problem with india is the infrastructure, thats why they go to Asian countries
-
Ganz is much more expensive over here.
-
Oh yeah, i used a Panasonic also, and it was not even as good as the Phillips I have used, and it was specifically for a front door, specked out by a US company! Phillips is actually the biggest seller from distributors in Florida, but that doesnt mean it is the best
-
Actually, Kalatel Cameras, say they are made in Asia, so I dont disupute that, that means they design them in the US and have a cheaper company in Asia put them together. You can email them yourself if you think their DVRs are made in Asia, but they have on them, MADE IN USA. As for the hardware GE uses, Power PC is a US Corporation, IBM: IBM Corporation 1133 Westchester Avenue White Plains, New York 10604 United States I have used Sanyo Cameras, and GE (kalatel) Cam Plus cameras are much better. Phillips is number 2 next to them. I really dont care where they are made, but the quality of them does matter, as well as warranty and, much more. I live near the US, so I will buy USA, regardless of where their memory chips are made. Ikegami is not even a player here. Rory

What standalone DVR's are you all using?
rory replied to Zyra Tech's topic in General Digital Discussion
Interesting, I was told by one of the engineers, it will have 120pps, and a DVD-RW, the image on that page just looks like a StoreSafe (not DVMRe) with a different CD-RW, all other features show no change, so dont hold your breath on their heresay, wait for the actual product, ill let the forum know as soon as its near release. He is talking about the DVMRe, not the storesafe, 2 different monsters alltogether. Never crashed a Kalatel DVR yet myself, i mean its an embedded Eprom, but anything is possible, its all just electronics. I prefer the Kalatel Remote software over DM, more simple, easier to use, and does more. DM was my original choice, as like you said, looks pretty, but went with kalatel, as like i said above. I like Kalatel's look better also, more professional, and they also actually make CCTV products, unline DM, so they know their business. DM is much more expensive on this side of the world. Rory -
i think you are talking more about products for your side of the world, sunkwang is asian and no US installers are going to buy them. Sanyo is ok, but having used their 520TVL cameras, not worth it, it is digitally enhanced, so the image is not always that great; its just like using paint shop pro and using the sharpen feature. Ganz is too expensive on this side of the world, and not any better than GE or Phillips, which end up costing much less. Samsung, well they are cheap, in the range of Sanyo, i have used a few of their cameras also, other people bought them and had me install them, they work, as will any brand, but not impressed. In other words, different side of the world, different prices and different markets. Rory

If you have a saved file, say if you saved 16 cameras recorded and saved to your computer using Disk Analysis, but only want one of them, or a selected few, to cut down on the file size? I have some software that will do that if you cant do it yourself. Anyone interested PM me. For eg. If the file saved has 16 cameras, and it is 200MB, and you only want 2 cameras, we can resave the file so there is only 2 cameras, and the size will be considerably lower, same times and dates. We can even cut it up so it starts at a certain time/date, and ends at a certain time/date. Great for evidence sharing. Rory

Split up Kaltel DVR recorded Files - look here

i see split wave is in the latest wave reader zip file. Oh well. 58MB download though! -
Yep, Nortons is still there in the back ground, I took it off all together myself, dont get any virus'. But for active X, needed for streaming video, but you can set it to prompt in security settings, though it can get annoying. IE does let alot of other things get pass its security for some reason, still dont know how they put those links on my desktop when I have active X and javscript totally disabled :-0

control panel, system, performance, optimise for fastest, in other words gets rid of all the XP heavy duty graphics, that are not needed. Turn off as much as you can on start up, in other words, antivirus and sys tray, and if you have a firewall like zone alarm, are all you need, unless you have some sought of printer that needs to be loaded on start up, like an all in one fax.printer.scanner. Nortons Utilities is one huge program that slows you down, get rid of it, you can turn off most of norton antivirus also, and it can still scan docs, etc. If your mail server has an antivirus then you dont need it, just watch what you open. And you dont need zone alarm once you be careful, and stay away from any type of instant messanger. Use a router with firewall instead. All of those things slow your system down. EDIT: jus saw thomas' post, he already said most of this

adsl router question/possible system design issue
rory replied to maximum protection's topic in Computers/Networking
its non PC based, it is a simple embedded system, actually very simple it has barely any features, just watch and listen, thats it, 1 camera at a time Its the Kalatel SVME8 - i tell you what, I wont buy that again! Doesnt match up to their DVRs. Anyway, it does the job, its being discontinued I think. All set up is done via a serial cable and hyper terminal to the Eprom. Im going with axis next time, probably. -
ok, no prob, its on my list for demos for the new store im opening, soon. Rory

rory replied to rory's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi Doesnt seem so. I could write a small program for this, if you wanted. Would need a couple days. Ill need the function for my other software im still developing anyway, so thats not a problem. Would just be connect to IP, search and display a list of results, save event by right clicking. I agree, would be nice to just be able to right click, save file as 60D file. Rory -
the 16 channel is cheap also! Looks like something I could use for lower end. See thing is my investor wants something cheaper like these so we can sell to the lower end/retail as that will be the bread and butter in between our larger jobs. Rory
-
yeah I was thinking about that also. Do you have a demo online that I can check out? Thats some good pricing, even cheaper than Provideo's, same 4 channel unit i think. How about a comp unit to test )) JK! Thanks Rory
