I am making software that emulates the buttons on the DVR, remotely. Still in development, some buttons dont work. Record does and is ueful incase it has been turned off record, and you want to remotely turn it back on to record. For example, the DSR-1000/2000's require the DVR to be in record mode to acess live video remotely, so unless it is in record mode you will connect live but see no video. I still have some more hex commands to program into it and will work on the menu system so you can change certain menu items. It would be nice to actually see what the monitor is seeing, but cant figure out how I would do that, without adding an extra camera to look at the monitor. Anyone interested in testing it please PM or email me. Because of the power of the software, it will only be available as a custom app with the IP embedded into the software. I think, unless I can come up with another idea to keep it secure. Rory

adsl router question/possible system design issue

Hi yes, they have client side software, the device itself is a video server. Ok I think I get it now, so DMZ it is accessable via the internet, so the client side remote software will recognise the device. -
Clear Cast = GE Kalatel - been in the CCTV business for many years.

on a sepertate note, you can see some Extreme IR cameras/LEDs on my web site: www.bahamassecurity.com - click on the Infrared Link on the right for more. Im going to get one with my jeep and post it here under security cameras.

Yes. Have tried 2 of their WZ46ZN dones, both times different instances had issues with IR glare, no matter what we did. Their actual dome is tough. I used a hammer and a sledge hammer to try to break the cover, nothing, just some scraches. I even drove my Jeep Cherokee over it, still all together, no damage. So they make tough domes. Stay away from the all in one IR domes. Get a seperate IR LED from them, or Extreme. The actual camera is good. The Dome is good. The LED is good. I only ever sell them seperate now. Extreme has some wall and corner mounted IR cameras, all in one, they have seperate LEDs from the camera, these will work great. Its when you have them together that you get the glare. Maybe both times I had a bad product, but it put me off the all in ones alltogether, in the IR dome series that is. When they keep the IR in a seperate window from the camera, then y ou have no issues, and it works great. Extreme cameras are the best I have seen for IR, whiz kid LEDs are great also, installing their cube IR with a Extreme EX45 on monday. I was using the whizkid's WZ46 just for the IRs for the EX45 but the LEDs burnt out after only a year so this is why i bought the WZ Cube IR. Rory Rory

Same problem with DSL here. We cant use anything besides Cable here as DSl is way to expensive to get the fast enough speed required for streaming video. I am meeting with a wireless Internet company tomorrow to discuss what they can do for us. DSL here is $490 a month for a business to get a good upload speed, cable is $150 a month (includes TV) for the simular. DSL - its the governments local monopoly, no other companies are permitted to provide telco services here: http://www.batelnet.bs/rates.htm Cable Bahamas - its the local Private Monopoly - there is no other cable company, these are the only guys with good fiber, they have the fastest speeds here: (they only show home accounts on this page) http://www.coralwave.com/products.shtml

from what I can tell from online stores, etc, Pelco doesnt seem to be a big player in the DVR business, correct me if I am wrong ofcourse, I do live in the 3rd world here and only rely on the internet. Rory

ok will do. Yes, same here, only places like Casinos/Airports would ever need them, and those guys that do casinos have huge warehouses where they build the matrix systems and test fully before they 'truck' them to the casino, I hear it is a year or so process for new casinos including wiring. Rory

adsl router question/possible system design issue
rory replied to maximum protection's topic in Computers/Networking
ok, thanks alot for the help, i will be there tomorrow and give it a try Rory -
you know what I need, is a seperate audio server, that I can connec to over the internet/lan, and then just implement that into my DVR remote software, in other words, in my software I can conenct to the DVR, then seperately connect to the audio server. What i need is a all in one audio box, not something that uses a PC at the location. Any ideas?

sounds good I will take a look, thanks I like to develop my own software If possible. rory

adsl router question/possible system design issue
rory replied to maximum protection's topic in Computers/Networking
while this topic is active again, I have an issue, I have a Video Server, i also have a Linksys Router, and a DVR connected to that. The router has port forwarding to the DVR port, no problems. I have a Static IP by the way. Other computers are also connected to the Router for internet access, no problems. The DVR serves all 16 cameras remotelt, but no audio. This video server is strictly for 8 of the indoor cameras that have audio, the video server has audio and 8 video ports. Now, this is the Info I have recieved from the Manufacturer on how to connect the Video Server, maybe you can make sense of it: ----------------------------------------- Uses H.323 standard Requires an opening in firewall for Q.931 H.245 UDP Dynamic RTP must be active Block T120 Port forwarding will not work Must have a Public IP address if outside access is necessary Ports are dynamic and change as the need arises. Best if access is via the DMZ -------------------------------------- So, that said, does this mean I need to buy a seperate Static IP for it, or I can use the same? The other info I dont understand. I can input an IP into the video server, as well as other info. Thanks Rory -
Can you get to where it comes into your appt? If so, you could reroute it, or something, to somewhere you can at least install an amp/filter. I could check with the people I buy my cable stuff from, I just received something for a similar problem, some higher channels were giving problems. We rewired and they are ok now, but since we have 2 4-way splitters and long runs, they are not great as could be, so I just received an 'onQ' device/amp. Im hooking it up tomorrow, so Ill let you know how it works out. they have smaller units, mine is an 8 output as we have 8 TVs. I just have recieved their catalog so ill go through it tonight. I dont have the part here so I dont know the part # off hand. This is all new to me so bear with me Actually the contact in the US is coming down tomorrow for a day for a meeting with us, so I can also ask him. He has been doing Home Theatre for 12 years, and now manufactures High End Plasmas and LCDs in Florida. Also, i think it was Zyra Tech that said they have been in the Audio Video industry for some years, so you may want to direct a question to him tonight to see if he has any ideas. Rory

ok thanks

do you know where the 'clip' is? If it is their larger cable, then they would have to fix it. If not, you could fix it yourself. Depends where it is, there are amps that would help with signal for those higher channels. You could also look into DSS, much better programming.

is the cheapest PTZ i have seen, not used it though. Like you said, looks like a toy Thing is though, for an extra couple hundred dolalrs you can get a higher end Kalatel or similar, though their keypads are not cheap.

What standalone DVR's are you all using?
rory replied to Zyra Tech's topic in General Digital Discussion
i only sell the DVMRe Kalatel unit now for 10 or 16 cameras, its 60pps, slim build, same size of their multiplexers, no CD, but many more features than the StoreSafe. It goes up to 1TB, rackmountable, same embedded OS. For some reason it is also cheaper than the StoreSafe in the 16 channel Unit, and that is strange since it is their best unit (not including the Clear Cast Unit). So StoreSafe is only one version of their DVR line Apparently the new Kalatel unit coming out, DVMRe PRO is 120pps, with a DVD-RW unit and much more. They can also use phone lines to connect to the devices, that is something they have mastered especially with the RSM-1600. Price is not an issue for most of my clients, but it is for me I too wish it was cheaper, and had more audio ports, and well there are other things that could be added. Price wise it is cheaper than Phillips, DM, or any other in that catagory. DM was my first choice originally, mainly because I liked the look of their remote software, but Kalatel's software is more powerful, plain, but does much more. -
I dont actually know, its not in my current kalatel dealer pricing, I guess its still new. Waiting on an updated one.

Ir Bullets never really illuminate outside well. At the least they will see a person if they come within a certain distance, but all manufacturer claims of distances are overrated and generally for indoors or something like a hallway. I only use Extreme CCTV IR when needing IR now, after struggling with IR bullets a couple years ago. Now that said, I use the bullets, and if they have IR so be it, but not the day night versions, just the B/W. But I dont sell them anymore. Reason being i have never seen a good image on any brands day night bullet camera, most of the time it is an exview only with some IR, and the color is always off. I think Sunkwang makes some of Provideo's products. Provideo generally just buys different Asian products and relables them. Either way their Bullets do last pretty well, and give a better image compared to other companies. They are also a little more expensive though, then say eclipse or COP for eg.

depends, there are 3' plus drill bits, but a pillar would be extremely difficult. When i installed alarms, we used to drill up through concrete for alarm wires, from windows, to get the wire from the attic to the window, most about 3' or more sometimes, hammer drill all the way, and we charged accordingly. Broke some bits and killed some drills though over the years! Plus that was a thin bit for 2 pair telco wire.
