  1. Basically the client software can do anything you program it to do, once the device has the hardware features, eg. multiple audio.
  2. The software lets you view 64 cameras from multiple sites in one window (64 way). Is that what you mean? GE Kalatel WaveReader Software: Multi-Site mode supports simultaneous connections to up to 16 Triplex units. This gives the user access to up to 256 different cameras. These cameras can be arranged and displayed in any combination on custom definable screens up to a maximum 64 cameras at a time. The user can define up to 25 different Custom Screens that can consist of any mixture of 4, 16, 36 and 64 way screens. Every Custom Screen can be given a unique name that describes the units whose cameras that are grouped within it. These screens are ideally suited to group cameras from Triplex units that are located in the same geographic area. For example, if a school has say two Triplex units in their security layout, all 32 cameras can be displayed simultaneously in one 36 way Custom Screen.
  3. right now, the only thing i can see is multiple audio.
  4. GE Kalatel, all the above except viewing logs, but you can have email alert on connection, etc, and if using a router can view logs through that. That is the device itself i mean, for software, you can make your own and have logs, etc, anything you want.
  5. Local Video ---- Dallmier 740x576 at full detail MPEG2.. Nothing comes close -kalatel is the same. Networking ----- Not a single thing comes even close to Geo...NOTHING! -what do you want it to do? i just want to connect. Looks ----- Dedicated Micros -slow though Features ------ Geo -once again, what do you want it to do? GUI --- Chance-I/ Vendoma -we're talking remote software here right? Ease of Use ----- IDIS -kalatel by far, easiest ive seen, that anyone can use them, no pc required.
  6. yes, check your PM. As soon as I get my 2 demo sites (new office, and home - will be mine so no security issues). It will be accesseblae from my home page for everyone to demo them.
  7. must be the software then.
  8. now you see why i use only embedded ready made stand alones
  9. i dont have office open, nor on start up. must use a codec that uses alot of memory. Not a good sign, as not every user will have winxp with 512ddr. im 128ddr right now, 16mb video memory.

the BLC is for if you are looking at a door entrance, back lighting control. AGC is good if you are using it in a dark setting, its auto gain control, but normally makes it brighter and can make the image worst. Most muxes/DVRs have setting of AGC in the menu settings.
  11. no luck, I already have DAO installed from office and VB, so its not that. I have some video card driver issues (in need of clean windows install), could be too much for it.
  12. have you tried the cameras direct into a CCTV monitor or TV, see how they are there first. Other than that, maybe video card or software issue.
  13. I have access on my system, so I dont think I need it, but ill try it and let you know. Currently, the browser based after restart, I can connect and view video, but then switching to another server, blue screen and shut down. The windows exe connects, then gives me a kernel error. Ill try the run time.
  14. The windows exe program installs for me without issue. The browser software messed me up.
  15. it caused my pc to shut down! first one yet to do that...
  16. Any ideas on rack mounted devices that are being used today for remotely recording video? Non PC based is preferred. Streaming Video & Audio, or just call up video upon alarm, but 24-7 recording of video. Also, any examples of what you can get for monthly video monitoring fees? Thanks Rory
  17. Another thing, with the Kalatel, it only records audio if there is video being recorded, so if you set it to motion only recording (event) it will only record audio when someone goes in front of the camera, But still could be an issue if more than one picks up motion. Their ClearCast DVR system they have now, multiple audio, and have 30pps on every camera, up to 1000+ cameras, but its PC based, and even so, it costs a fortune. Its geared towards Casinos.
  18. Yeah, I see what you mean, yes, I hope they soon will get their act in check I dont see how hard it can be, as it is though they charge an extra $3-500 just for audio on the DVRs. Im also amazed at the hard drive pricing, since the tech told me I could just out in my own DVRs, but I loose the warranty, but if you wanted a 1TB DVR, its more than $5K than the 40Gb, and if you didnt need audio, it would make sense to just put in your own hard drives, because even without a warranty, the 16 channel for eg. 40Gb being around $3K, and the 1TB being around $9K, you still save $3K even if you had to buy a new one to replace the bad one. Anyway, just rattling on, I hope they bring the pricing down soon on the larger drives, I guess they are keeping them in the range of the other embedded manufacturers like phillips, ultrack, pano, dm, etc.
  19. Oh another thing, the majority of the homes we will essectially be dealing with will be 1-10mill, but then they are more expensive down here so it works out to about 3/4 to a 1/2 of that price in US.
  20. thanks, you sound like the right person to talk to, ill see if I have any questions ill get back to you on them. Im with you on all the manufacturers thing, thats why in CCTV I stick to just one or 2. I need to talk about this more with the US distributor who is setting us up with all this, as Im still in the dark as to which products we will be using. They will come down and train us (me) and Ill train a helper to start with. I dont invision too many jobs to start with, but like you said, service is still going to be an issue, as thats the downfall of most if not all other service businesses in this country. Rory
  21. is that out on Dial up internet or broadband? Interesting though Do they have an active X control, the Java is very slow.
  22. Using Loroue products, i have never had an issue with multiple mics, 8 being the most I have installed at one location. They tie into a base station, which has a DVR/VCR audio output. I also have a couple that are just joined together and go direct into the DVR, and they have no problems also, clear audio. Thing is as far as recording goes, you will ofcourse be playing back all of them.
  23. I am sticking with GE Kalatel for right now, they work well, easy to use and install, and great support, if needed. As for bids, same here, rarely have any other companies bidding, normally its someone that comes to me and knows the want the best video quality. Over here though there really isnt anyone else doing CCTV, professionally at least, there are alot selling cheap equipment, plumbing companies, electronic stores, locksmiths, etc, they all do too much other things, dont even know what products they are selling, just rely on the Miami distributor to send them whatever they think will work. Or they have been approached by email/mail from asia on unknown brands at low low costs, that barely do the job (not the asian products discussed on this forum, other ones). Im going into Home Theatre now also, as being it is Audio/Video, it goes hand in hand with CCTV now, and will be a great way to test CCTV on the new Plasmas and LCDs. Also, they have some computer companies here selling PC card DVRs, but ill leave them to that, it may be cheaper, but more time consuming, Im in it for the fun, but also the money, and I would rather spend more time on making sure the cameras are getting the best quality, than on setting up a PC. I can install and demo a Kalatel DVR in 5-15 minutes, its so simple to use and install, its why we pay the price for these all in ones, they already do everything for you.
  24. why dont they just use the 1 audio input, with mutiple mics, thats how I have done it here. It works great. Unless they absolutely need a seperate one for each room etc.
  25. yes its called Split Wave, but it is not on the CD nor their web site.
