Storesafe connection with dynamic IP address (ADSL)
rory replied to rikky's topic in Digital Video Recorders
because their browser software is limited, and not as good looking, mine already has a ton more features. It will in the end be just like WaveReader, with a few less minor features like Disk Analyser and multi site, but more of other features. Its for clients who travel alot and visit web cafes etc., also for location demos so i dont have to install the 58MB WaveReader software. Here is a screen shot: My problem is I cannot connect to the DVR if there is a router at the location where the DVR is, using simply the IP in Internet explorer. I can connect using WaveReader or my software without a problem as it pushes the port 1024, where the browser is port 80. Rory -
you have more quantity in your area though, been trying those small jobs around here, cant get enough to make it worth it, so Im going to the high end clients now, with Audio Video (Home theatre) and CCTV. Our countries entire population is only $300,000, and the majority of them are poor, and the majority of business owners can not afford CCTV. We also pay alot in import taxes and have to charge more for warranty for shipping and more import taxes, not to mention our electricty is stone age here and even with a line conditioner it is very common to get hit/burned. We have long tern summer outages lasting days at a time, last summer it was out every day on and off for the whole summer. So far so good, but its just starting to get hot now. Plus I only sell the high end parts, cant afford to sell the cheapo ones. If i can get 500 jobs, even if that is all the jobs I will ever get, from the high end clients, thats like $10mil gros profit, over a few years though. I did over 500 alarm jobs in about a 4 year period, in the ghetto areas, but barely made enough to live off, they were more in the $400-800 range, out of that area now.

Ive only had one problem so far, in shipping the DVR BNC ports were damaged, had to open it up but would have had to take the entire thing aprt to get to 'maybe' be able to fix the problem, decided to send for a replacement. Our biggest problem here is dealing with customs and shipping.

In a few years, there will already be new technology so you can either send it back and let them update it for a small fee, or buy one of the newer products that will no doubt be out, as you would do with a PC. I replace my entire PC every year or 2. I have a few DVRs going strong after 2 years now. Have only had to update the Eprom once.

Storesafe connection with dynamic IP address (ADSL)

Hi I know you can connect to the StoreSafe using a web browser, as all Kalatel DVRs now have WaveBrowser built in, but I cant connect to WaveBrowser direct, with the StoreSafes and others that are using a Router. Ive emailed GE but have had no luck yet. Meanwhile I wrote (still developing it) a new Browser Based software that will allow anyone to connect to any GE Kalatel DVR, working on the member section right now, and have some other code to do. -
ok thats possible. There is no actual OS on the Hard Disk, but like you said, would need to know the format, that the nucleus embedded OS uses.
-
hey hermin, you think that is expensive, my average CCTV job is $15K installed Now moving into the $50K range with the new business..

Sorry, was going by the title of the thread.

Ouch, i sell my Kalatel 4 Channel DVRs down here in the Bahamas for less than that at Retail end user pricing, and we are alot more than the US pricing. Is this Retail? The dome cameras looked like relabled mini domes same as that Provideo use etc, from Asia, basically cheap quality.
-
unless they have a distruibutor in the US i wouldnt touch them.
-
Kalatel and alot of others use Wavelet and its good.

my bad, this must be them right? http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13.htm

http://www.avtech-online.com/products/main/index.htm not these guys right :-0

One thing I noticed, is they dont supply you with a demo, or even a screenshot of the remote video software for the IP DVRs. Kindof reminds me of having just dealt with a Provideo DVR to find out it is way limited and does not do what we wanted, not to mention the CCTV Monitor quality was 1/2 that of the Kalatel DVRs. if you give us the price you were quoted we can maybe tell if it isworth it, also post whether that is retail or dealer price.
-
Not sure, but you wont be getting the best for less than $600.
-
hey there, ive never heard of it actually, but maybe AV has, or someone else. Ill look at the specs and get back to you, whats its price?
-
good idea, ill have to try it, on the next 4 channel I get, dont want to go digging into the DVMRe CT that I have as thats a $3700 machine, and different from the StoreSAfe anyway. Once it is a standard HD then it should be able to be done, just plug it into a PC as a second drive. Ofcourse this all voids any warranty, but you could save some dollars on HD sizes by getting the 40Gb to start with. Rory

Vendoma vs. Geovision and the Who's Who in the Biz

i second that, seems all asian GUIs look the same with cheesy icons and graphics too. -
Hi I have 8 mics at a location here, they all tie into a Louroe Audio Base Station, and then their is a built in DVR/VCR output, and it sends all audio out to the 1 audio input on the Kalatel DVR. So you see it does work. Basically, it does not record audio unless the camera is recording. So once you set motion detection recording on all cameras (not time lapse), when there is movement, the appropriate camera will start to record, and the audio along with it. Ofcourse you are getting audio from all the mic locations.

Hi You can only by direct if you become a distributor, which has itrs purchase requirements. Its not that much cheaper anyway. ADI would have the same pricing as the rest, best thing is to use a supplier in your area. As for changing the hard drives yourself, it may be able to be done, we havent tried it yet. Only thing that I would imagine will not work is the built in wavebrowser and quickwave for burning to CD as that software is on the actual hard drive from the factory. It comes with one HD by default. That said, for a 16 channel system I would not use the StoreSafe, the DVMRe-CT is cheaper and has more features, more pps, and a better overall unit. If you want to save even more, the DVMEe-Z version is cheaper that the CT, and has similar features of the StoreSafe, ofcourse without the CD-RW. The storesafe is basically just a compact version of the DVMRe-Z with a CDRW built in; the print function is pretty useless so I dont even count that. Most people have CDRWs or DVDRws in the computers and I have never had to use the built in one. You can also save recorded video over the LAN or WAN, and then burn to CD or DVD, or Flash. The 4 channel StoreSafe is the only version I sell now, as it is cheaper than the others, and i can get over a month of real tine recording with a 40GB easy. As for wireless, there is www.videotransmitters.com , pretty good selection. Rory

yeah we dont drive that far but i still spend $20 a day on gas easy, when not driving much.
-
http://www.thenassauguardian.com/business/322553214593797.php think you pay alot for gas where you live? :-0 They have a slogan here for tourism ads, "it just keeps getting better", they need to change it to, "it just keeps getting more expensive"!

Kalatel is a US product, how can it be a boxed board from Asia???? Not everything is made in Asia come on man. Just because the memory chip is made in ASia. If you read the lable on the back of the DVR it sais MADE IN THE USA, if you however look at a Kalatel Camera, it does say Made in Taiwan. And those $50 DVRs are a piece of crap with no software or non worth using. I stil havent seen a real GEO demo to tell if it is really as good as you say, the web based demo is a joke and the program icons look like children made them.

you have to enter an IP address of a Kalatel DVR, PM me to use one to test. Rory
