  1. now you can connect to your DVRs from my site if you want to, please test the software, throw me some ideas, comments, etc. No PTZ implemented yet, havent got my hands on one yet, but will when the new business opens in the next few weeks. The Date Time goto only works if you are in normal and playback mode by the way. There are 2 ways to connect, Live (1st connect button shows the camera icon), and Normal (next button, shows play button), in Normal mode it goes to live streaming first, but you can switch to playback by clickiing on the Playback button. Audio playback is set by default if you have audio recorded. It will play saved (60D) or recorded (rbd) files by just clicking the open file icon on the top left without connecting. The slider does not yet work in Connected Playback mode, just when you are playing a file recorded or saved. Also, the slider is optimized for playback from saved or recorded files. As soon as I write another hundred lines of code to get around the restricted developers control I will have the slider working in playback mode. Playback mode does though allow all the play, ff, etc functions, and goto date time. You can also click RECORD in live mode and normal LIVE mode. . It also has sequencing in Live and normal LIVE mode. You can also save and print in every mode. Saved and Recorded images/video are sent to a folder on C: drive, called iVuePro, and a desktop shortcut is created if it does not yet exist. All images and recordings are saved by Date and Time so they are easy to locate. You can change the quality level and color to BW etc, using icons at the top. For a slower bandwidth, lower the quality from 4 down to as much as 1, that is the quality of the video streaming from live or playback. Basically there are 4 modes; Live, Normal Live, Normal Playback, and Open File. Running 800x600 it is designed for IE Full sreen mode, you can run it also in any other screen size above that. You need to set your security settings to Prompt for active X where it sais disabled, it is under, Tools, Options, Secuirty, Custom, t hen click apply after. Also, if you have newer files just say 'no to all' and if you are using win98 or older OS then you may have to restart. I have tested and this works on ME, XP and 2000. 98 should work, will probably just have to restart after installation of new files. It was depolyed on a updated Windows ME system, but XP may still have newer DLL files so just say NO to ALL, when it asks to overwrite the newer files. I will be deploying it on an XP system starting next week, so it wont matter after that. Once loaded/downloaded it will not have to download files again, until I deploy a newer version. Im updating it weekly with newer freatures. Let me know what features you want to see that are not there, I need ideas, still its better than Wave Browser huh?! Also, it is licensed so please do not hack the control, as well as it has some copy limitations built into the code where it has to run from its current location only. You can visit and use this page as much as you like. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/i Thanks Rory

Ok, so you mean manufacturing, i cant get into that part of it, but would be interested to know more. I know about triplex, i guess the same as Mutliplex? that is PC based though right, Linux or Windows, or is it RTOS like nucleus? Thanks Rory

also, using a 30pps/fps DVR is still good, when you record using motion detection. For example, using a GE Kalatel StoreSafe (see on my home page). When there is motion in a certain camera it switches recoring to 30pps to that camera. IF you have more cameras gettin motion then ofcourse you will get a slower recording, but even usin 16 cameras, with 3 or 4 of them getting motion, 30 or 60 pps have been great. If you are using a 60pps it switches to 60pps, this is all from what I have gathered from recorded video. New standalones even from GE are coming out with 120pps after the summer.

US$100? Alot more than that in the US, if you buy the name brands anyway, but yes, I agree either way, even if you buy Asian or US stand alones, the features in the cards will soon be in the standalone software, and if it is not in the actual on board software, they will have it in the remote software (which can already be done, but they dont seem to do it for some reason), which will be just the same as using a PCI card, but the DVR will be more stable, as far as the user canot load any 3rd party software on it. I think they spend more time on the hardware side then the remote software side. Though as name brands go, Provideo for examplem, side by side with a GE Kalatel DVR, the quality is much higher on the GE Kalatel, this is an eyes on comparison, compared by 3 different people, neither who use Video Recording at all. Provideo playback of recorded CDRW is the same quality as far as I can tell. IP will probably be able to be integrated with stand alone DVRs, for better remote video quality (mega pixel), or the other way around, and bandwidth will be better on everything. Just my sense of the future )

darn, send me the card you want to use and ill rip it apart and let you know what's up. If I have a problem with it I have some guys here that can do anything with anything, using other programming languages (ie. we cannot get legit Dirrec#t T#V here for example if you get my jist, though I dont personally get involved in that stuff) Rory

that sounds longer that it really should take, once we know what we are using, and commands etc, to really do a full featured software, Id say around 3-6 months. Code is indepth and stressfull so you would need to break up the time, but that time should cut it. Any longer than that, you may as well write an Operating system or some other software like POS that will make you more money. If you are going to spend 12months on code, best to write an alarm monitoring software, they make a killing of that in the US, and sell it worldwide and make an even bigger killing. One big selling Alarm Softare I can thin of is SIS (SecuritySoftware.com) Rory

    CCTV standards in Iran

Im actually starting to sell more vandal resistant housings now, like EMI 12 Guage as its no more expensive than a regular housing, but stronger.
  12. I have actually had a problem, using a router to connect to the storesafe WaveBrowser, directly. I tried port 80 forwarding, but a couple times it worked, but then it didnt again. Plus when it did work, I still had to type in the actual page address, wrlit..ssi etc. I can connect without a problem using WaveReader or my software, as it uses Port 1024, but just not by entering the IP direct into the browser. Any ideas? I tried playing with the DMZ zone, etc, but to no prevail.. It all works fine without a router just plugged into the cable modem. thanks Rory

If i knew the connect commands to the hardware, or some kind of commands used, Id like to get involved, right now im still using an developers active X control that was given to me by Kalatel (for Kalatel DVRs), and has its limitations as to what you can do, I guess they never wanted the developers to make a software with more features than theirs. Thing is, there are more features that can be added regardless of their control, such as sequencing, volume controls, multiple levels of users, full screen, resizing, email images/video on motion, etc, and a ton more (just need some ideas). I also found a way to grab the wavelet data, and then use it in something like windows media player, still working on that. That way they can be saved direct as AVIs or MPEgs, decompress it, etc. But yes, let us know what you are looking at doing, and what hardware you are going to use.

    Just A General Price question

Also, from their web site: "Bulb life is dependent on filament ruggedness and design. Extreme CCTV bulb life is considerably greater than the industry average due to the rugged halogen quartz bulb. UF500 – average 3,000hrs. UF100 avg. 8,000 hours."

    Uhm, Very interesting

looks identical. Provideo must buy their DVRs from multiple sources though, as I cant find the one i have (DVR-16/IP) on Sunkwang or this link, been looking to find the manufacturer to see if I am missing some software.

You could look into writing your own software for the cards, and then you will get whatever you want out of the software.

    Just A General Price question

The UF500 Bulb is rated at 3000 hours bulb life, replacement bulb costs $79 US. I am told by Extreme that is 10-12 months, but in countries that use 120VAC, vs 220VAC, they generally last longer, which would be why I have got over 2 years out of mine. They say their LEDs (not bulb) normally last 3-5 years. I have got over 2 years from my EX82's which use LEDs, and the same with the UF500's using a IR Bulb, though as we have seen, one has just gone out recently, the other is still going. It is all regardless of the IR filter, which one you use depends on the camera you are using and its Spectral Response. Most manufacturers now list the IR Wavelength with their Day Night or BW Specs. Either way, it is good to keep some replacement IR Bulbs on hand, as I have found out the hard way! As for the LEDs, your out of luck when they go. Yes, the Bulbs are not discreet in the day time, but at night with 940nm, they are invisible in pitch dark, and even 840nm, is only a very dim light. All the lights are blinding somewhat, if you look at them for while though. And yep, id like to see the price go down sometime soon! As for the cost of LEDs, I dont think its really that which makes their cameras, the ones using LEDs that is, they are more than that, anyone can buy LEDs. For instance, the EX82 has built in Fan for the LEDs, a photo cell, water and corosion resistant housing, 2 built in seperate varifocal cameras including 1 high res color, full IR and other camera settings, seperate camera and LED windows. Yes Im not sure how the price gets to be what it is as Im not in the manufacturer industry, but I guess we are also paying for the material and design. I think there is another company called Rainbow which also sells the UF500 and UF100 series, but it costs more. May be worth testing out the Videolarm LEDs and Bulbs, but their cost is not lower in that area. Wish someone would come out with something as good as Extreme but cheaper, or that they would lower the pricing. Rory

    GODAMMIT!!!

Any electronic device can have mechanicl problems, that is not disputed. With the case of stability, it generaly means OS (software) stability. The stand alone part of it is also for ease of use. In Hermin's case, he has an Asian supported product, which means he would have to send it all the way back to Asia. From what I can tell from the specs, it is also not a RTOS. For example, if I were in the UK, I would be using Dedicated Micros, and if in Canada, probably March Networks. Since i depend on US distributors and support, I must stick with a good US product, regardless of where the memory chip is made.

They actually can be discreet, if you get the 930/940 nm, that is invisible IR. Also, 2-5 years is pretty long for a cheap bulb replacement which only costs $50.
