    GODAMMIT!!!

Do you know what OS it is running, cant find it on their web site. Like the reply above, maybe its a memory issue, make sure they havent come loose. If its a PC OS like linux (not RTOS linux) then you are getting standard PC errors.

they are very expensive, more than ganz and GE, and are not big sellers.

    Just A General Price question

Hi, that pricing is actually wholesale pricing so unless you are a distributor you will not find it cheaper anywhere else. I had 2 of the UF 500's with a Sanyo Day Night camera, thats the one in the picture below, camera 8. It only has 1 UF500 hooked up right now as the other one's bulb went, been over 2 years, waiting on one now. The actuall bulb is not that expensive. The power supply I am using is a Dual UF500 power supply, it has a built in Photo cell so it only turns on in the dark, saving the bulb life and clients power. From what I can tell it doesnt affect the users bill much, at least not this clients, as their bill is probably high anyway (3 plasmas, 7 other TVs, Receivers, Reverse Osmosis, Restaurant Stylee Fridges and Freezers (lots of them), etc etc etc) so in their case its not a big deal. As for testing, yes, I set them all up by me first. No thats not my home, i live in an efficiency (still on the beach though). This is the only one to date, but I have put in quotes for a couple others which should come through, they all are in the $50K range, due to the IR pricing, DVR and a couple day night PTZs. I have used some other beam type IR leds claiming 60+ feet etc, but they dont compare to Extreme's stuff. Not sure how the Video Larm IR is, but im sticking with something that is proven. When I think Video Larm, I normally think low budget, so wonder why they are getting into that higher priced area. In fact, on this job, we started off with IR Bullet cameras, which dont see much outside at night, then added on the IR beams, but that didnt do much either, ended up with the EX82's and 1 camera with Dual UF500's, does the job. Probably could use some more iR on the Beach, and Car Park, but its fine. Even Extreme CCTVs tech said he was impressed. I only use Extreme CCTV for infrared jobs now. If the client doesnt like the price, thats just too bad, I need a product that is going to work. I only deal with high end clients now anyway, so price is not an issue. Proper night time adjustments of the IR cameras and Bulbs, are required, as the direction of the IR really has an effect on how much you will see in pitch dark. I actually have to re adjust one or two of them on this job, as the staff moved them slightly during cleaning. Rory

    Two Camera System

i have one of their bullet cameras on a Tree, 100' from the beach, been going strong 2 years now.
  6. new version, still in development, but all features are working in live, normal and playback mode, user: test pass: maybe http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/remote/ivuepro.asp
  7. Working on some new browser software, dont like the kalatel's browser GUI. Anyway, anyone with a Kalatel DVR please test this for me and let me know here or by email if it works or not. Right now only buttons that work are the live connect button (right next to the IP Input text box, it has a picture of a camera), Save, Print, Multiple Screen Displays, Full Screen Modes, and Disconnect. Once again, just threw this together tonight, going to bed now (6am!). Havent finished but you can view live video either way, just want to know if any issues on different systems, and if i have forgot any dlls in the container (cab) file. You will need to adjust your security settings for activeX to prompt where it sais disable, and click OK when it asks if you want to install the files. Win98 and 2000 may have to reboot first after installation. If you already have WaveReader on your PC then it will work either way as you will already have tthe files. No password section yet, will have to add that later on. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/remote/IVuePro.asp user = demo pass = beta Thanks Rory

    Cable Length and Correct Cable

yep, electricians can be your best friend or worst enemy on CCTV jobs, depends which one you use, or what mood they are in! )
  10. On a 19" standard TV, it is actually good, i was surprised. It is not as crisp as on the CCTV monitor, but still very good. I think it really depends on the TV itself also, and ofcourse the cameras. These were 1x 19" Panasonic Flat Screen TV w/DVD/VCR, and 1x Toshiba 19" same specs. The 13" TV even better, ofcourse its small. The 37" TV, still good, just as good as the TV picture on something that large. I havent had a chance to do a side by side comparison with direct input into RCA and the RF mod, but from what I can tell, the direct input is better, not by much, though also depends on the TV. I have another job with a direct connection to RCA input, Toshiba Flat Screen and the quality is not that good at all, colors are off. But could have been the damaged DVR which I had to send back. I would run direct if you can, if not then the Rf mods on Cable is still good. Basically the Plasmas are large and great to see an image that large, but the quality does not match the regular TVs, which includes the 37" TV. The large screen TV is not as good as the regular ones either, even on a TV channel, but better than the Plasmas. Once you stand back from the 42-50" Plasmas, it is a good image. Its ease of use and no extra wires to install (except the one from the RF mod to the cable begin). We just reran all cable wires and new connectors, as the cable had been bad (water, connections, splices, etc), now with new cables and connectors it is much better, waiting for an amp now, but except for the longest run TVs, I doubt it can be better than it is. Using RCA input, my 13" Celerra (cheap) TV gives a great picture, but my 19" Celera is terrible. The 19" is a refrubished unit, so that may answer some questions there. Rory
  11. Hi. This is for the experienced in large systems: 1-What type of cable do you primarily use. 2-How do you make wiring 'neat' when say inputing 16 camera cables into your mux 3-Wiring to camera - what do you use to manage/hide the cable to the camera housing 4-Do you run primarily in conduit or loose 5-If you use Cat5, do you use those Patch boxes used in networking? 6-If you use Fiber, any low priced nodes/switches links, and info for self installing/learning fiber installation? 7-any tips, tricks, product links worthwhile? thanks Rory
  12. The way I have done it, coax out from the Monitor output into the Input on the RF Modulator. I use a single channel RF Modulator from Channel Vision, Full Range so you can manually set it on a selected channel, see below: "Converts video & audio signals to RF. Loop tuning eliminates channel drift. 120 selectable channels UHF – Ch. 14-69; Cable 65-94,100-125" Other brands offer RF mods, though Channel Vision is one of the most used around this part of the world, they should all be the same (?). Even Radio Shack sells their products. Then, the output on the RF modulator goes on coax to the entry point of cable TV into your home, or before the cable TV splits off to your TVs. Using a 2 way input splitter, Cable Tv goes in one input, the RF Mod signal in the other. There is then one output which goes off to your TVs using whatever way you have them going, normally a multi splitter, such as a 1 in, 4 out 7db splitter, or amp etc. I also use a cable TV filter inbetween the 2-input-1-ouput splitter so it filters out any cable TV interference. Channel Vision makes both the modulators and the filters, the filters are only like $5. Then you just use your TV remote to switch to the channel you set it on. I use 72 as default, but you can use any channel that is not used in the set range (65-94,100-125) Its actually pretty cool, with this client of mine, she has 2x 42" Plasmas, 1 50" Plasma, 2 x 19" Tvs, 1x 13" TV/VCR in the Kitchen, 1 x 37" TV, and a Big Screen TV (huge, not sure the actual size, 70"? Its used in a sound proof room and has theatre settings etc). When you put just one camera on the mux to display on the monitor, its a huge video image on those large TVs/Plasmas, not as crisp as the CCTV monitor or the smaller TVs like the 19" ones, but still impressive. Her Plasmas are pretty old and will be upgrading next few weeks, maybe the new ones will give better quality. Rory
  13. also, you connect it to the cable before it splits off to the TVs.
  14. you set it to an unused channel. full range modulators (such as choice of 72-114 as opposed to a simple one which does ch 3 or 4) can cost around $75 for a single channel one. The cheaper ones that do ch 3 or 4 are much cheaper, like $20, and you can find them in most electronic stores.
  15. ok will check it out. Oh yeah, I now see what you mean with the velcro, just wrap it together and easily remove it. Will need to get some of that. Rory
  16. actually i switched and stuck with me as it was faster, and crashes less than 98, but 95, now thats the fastest Me and 98 are basically the same, but me lets you easily tweak it more than 98. Either way we are heading to both being unable to work with new hardware, so I hope MS brings out something better than XP soon. In a tweaked state XP is fine, but then you still have those security holes and updates which are not needed for ME.
  17. the ones i use do, filter is for cable interference. i think he uses multiple ones so you can have a full screen image of each camera, on different channels.
  18. thanks, been a while since this was originally posted what are velcro wrap good for, instead of tie straps? And whats a corning fiber system? Thanks Rory
  19. yeah, i have had to use a filter each time myself.

    Cable Length and Correct Cable

try this link. http://www.pelco.com/products/power_comm/videoconditioning/eqamps.aspx The splice shouldnt matter once it is done right, but at that distance it would be better not to have it anyway. Would it be cheaper to re run Cat5 cable/twisted pair with an active Transceiver and transmitters at each camera? Rory

    Two Camera System

the exview should work in your case, and that monitor is a good price. Best to email them first to double check the LCD will work with CCTV cameras.

    Two Camera System

Yes, exview is low light color, so it can give you an image in low light, but it is not as good as a true black & white image. Some day night cameras are simply exview, and switch to black & white, but not true black & white mode, so they have the same lux level, same resolution, but can accept IR lighting. While the true day night will switch to a higher res black & white and lower lux level, normally. They use different methods, its explained by someone else on this forum, cant remember off hand. Exview is just a cheaper method to get a good image in low light, and can still accept IR lighting in most cases. Best image in extremely dark situations or near pitch dark, is a good quality true day night camera, or black and white only, and a seperate IR Bulb if it is too dark. Better image would be to use normal outdoor lighting though. And yes, the exview bullet camera will give you a pretty good image in low light. There are actually light meters, so you can test the light level in a certain location, to know exactly which lux camera you would require, not sure how much they cost though, but i know I have to get one soon.

    Two Camera System

it means the LEDs may die within that time, and you cannot replace them, you will need a new camera if you want IR leds again. This has already happened to me. You could probably send it back and have them replaced, but just as cheap to buy a new one. Or just do without the IR.
  25. He is already doing it right for RF modulation, no T-connectors are needed, for a single channel RF mod(not sure there are multiple ones). If there are multiple ones, or using more than one, then you can just use the loop out on the mux. I have the video out on my monitor, going to the RF modulator Video input, no T-connectors needed. So you see what the monitor sees. Rory
