oh yeah, forgot about the megapixel cameras quality though...
-
I was thinking, if its only for ease of using cat5, then wouldnt a UTP active transceiver be better, direct to a high res CCTV Monitor, mux etc. I imagine the quality would be better. I could only see IP cameras usefull as a single camera app such as a PTZ IP camera out on a road somewhere, and where there is wireless Internet. It doesnt seem to be any cheaper than a DVR with Ip and traditional CCTV cameras, except when you get into the traditional PTZ cameras. Correct me if im wrong here? Or places where you cant get wire and can get wireless internet. Rory

ive looked at it, its not that great, good for a one camera app I guess. Quality is not better than the other higher res IP cameras. but like others say, its probably not worth messing with right now.

Standalone/Embedded DVR with CDR capabilities?
rory replied to knightvision's topic in Digital Video Recorders
certainly! ) -
The bullet IR cameras dont suck, but they dont perform well as far as IR goes (edit: outdoors in more open spaces), though you are correct, they need something to light up, all IR cameras work better with some surroundings to light up. Thats why a 6 IR LED bullet will light up a living room pretty good due to the surreounding walls. Its like a Flashlight, in a small room you will have great light, outside in a field, it will not be that great at all, the more powerful the flash light the better it will be. You can see that in camera 1 and 3, where in camera 1 it is wide open, with no walls in the picture, on the sides, but with a Flood (30/60 degrees) UF500, 500+ IR LED BULB, it would cover the entire image, all sides of it also. Camera 3 has surrounding walls and a wall / building 110 feet at the far end of the image, so it works even better.

Standalone/Embedded DVR with CDR capabilities?
rory replied to knightvision's topic in Digital Video Recorders
also dont forget the lower budget Provideo (Amittyville, Long Island, NY), they have the DVR-16/IP that comes with CDRW also. The remote video software is not very good though, but works. -

DVR for budget apps? what are you selling? IQinVision.com has the mega pixel IP camera with power over cat5 also. These guys also have an interesting product, and power over their cable: http://cor-ebiz-01.anixter.com/Marketing/feedback2.nsf/CCTP?OpenForm -
GE has the WaveReader 3.0 software that supports 64 total cameras in one window from multiple sites. Im using it now for 5 different sites, nice, but now I need a plasma TV that I cant afford! I tested it on a clients plasma connected as a PC monitor, and it was great, for live video at least. Rory

DVR and Access control combined
rory replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
Kalatel does this and has for a while now. they have an access control software program built for this, to integrate into their DVMRe's or digiplex system, and others. So you can control access control remotely also as well as video and more. I am sure there are others doing it also. http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=53&catid=1121&id=sle-acsm&lang=en_US -
Anybody know about the Itellicam Day Night cams??
rory replied to aliensquale's topic in Security Cameras
here's some night shots in pitch dark for the EX82, have some camera cleaning to do, and some slight night time adjustments. Camera 1 & 2 in this pic have a couple lights on right now, rest are pitch black. I will post an online demo once they are cleaned and readjusted, but for now: Cameras 1,2,3,5,6,7 are EX82, Camera 4 is Extreme Day/Night Dome (EX45), Camera 8 is Sanyo Day Night Camera, in Extreme Housing with 2 UF500 IRs (oh yeah, 1 of them seems not to be working, I have to check that out, also some have been moved during last cleaning so LEDs are not positioned as they were originally, will have to spend a night out there to readjust this!) EX82 = Extreme CCTV Dual Camera Day Night with IR LEDs. 480TVL Color, 420TVL B/W - 4-8mm Varifocal both Cameras. Photo Cell swicthes from color camera to BW camera. All IR and photocell switching is adjustable. Built in FAN. IR Distance to 100 ft outdoors, 150' indoors. Night time adjustments are required to get the best IR Image, and each location can give a different image, depending on height and direction of camera, and lens focal settings. PRICE: (Suggested US Retail) $2344. -
http://www.dvrwholesaler.com/products.php?type=dvr hows the price and is it any good?? I guess for low end systems.
-
then again, all I can rate it on right now is the picture of the device, and the browser software which looks shabby. Video looks clear though.
-
looks cheesy to me, just finished watching that demo link above also, and the product itself looks cheap on the Vpon web page. What do they cost?? Looks useful for home users though, if it is cheap enough.
-
if you want to go cheaper, look at the Provideo DVR-16/IP, costs $1500 wholesale, 16 channel embbedded Linux, full featured. Provideo tech support, product, and warranty is great, 100% better product than the ones you are talking about. If you really want to be cheap, buy a quad for $50 and a single channel DVR for $400, just as good as the DVRs you are talking about! :-0 But if you are selling Vpon units, then you are use to cheap low quality products already, so Everfocus should be fine.
-
yes, direct experience yesterday with an everfocus DVR, and it does not in anyway compete with a GE DVR, or similar, or even Provideo. If you buy a more expensive DVR, or get a Demo, and test it, you will notice the difference. If the everfocus is for home use, or yourself, go ahead, I am talking about selling a good product to your client, and the cheap ones just arent worth it. I am constently switching businesses over that are using cheap DVRs for something that works, much better.
-
ok thanks. Yep, maybe ill wait a bit before getting into it. I just tested an IQ3 camera online from the Ipix web site, which claims you can digitally zoom in and out etc, but you cant focus it, so it isnt clear, but I was using Ipix, so that may be the problem there. Cant get any of the other Ip remote software to work on windows ME, its all either for XP or does not have a demo IP to test, or needs a password. Ill leave it alone for now, thanks though. Rory
-
ok thanks, is that local frame rate also, or just over the web? And is that per camera or with others added? Thanks Rory
-
actually this looks good, can replace existing cameras with them also. http://www.iqeye.com/cctvcam.htm
-
axis is too cheap for my taste, plus anyone can buy them from anywhere. I need something high end, and not as easy for clients to buy themselves. Axis is like a kmart camera, its everywhere!
-
Crappy Remote Software Looks cheap Support is bad Warranty is limited Limited Features/Local Programming and im sure there is more, you get what you pay for.
-
Yes. they work but they are basically crap, like the everfocus is also; you get what you pay for. Support is terrible on these also. IR Remotes only come with the cheap DVRs, generally. The more expensive ones, you can lock it up, and use a keypad to control it remotely over cat5.
-
Anyone tested this: http://www.webgateinc.com/wg_htdocs/english/products/products_webeye_DS412.html
-
no. thoes are not Provideo, those are even cheaper, I wouldnt touch them myself, but its up to you. Never heard of them, but their products are probably just generic no name products, that are normally as good as their price is. Beware the cheap IR bullet cameras, best to get them without IR as the IR on those are 99% of the time useless anyway, unless it is indoors in a small room.
-
Provideo also has a 550TVL indoor Dome camera, but i have my reservations that it actually gives 550TVL, especially as it is so cheap. Even the 520TVL on the Sanyo cameras is not impressive, at least in the sunlight it is a bad image, puts off a lot of glare, I disabled it in the end. It looks good in the shade though which we dont have much of here... I imagine the extra resolution is just digitally enhanced like using Paint Shop Pro's Sharpen effect.
