    DEMO ROOM

havent seen it yet, but then it would not be the same, loss of signal on coax, and coax can just go right into the DVR/Mux. smart wiring products also have CatTv as well as UTP and telco.
  4. cheap, embedded OS, anyone used this yet? http://www.csi-speco.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodID=687 Rory

    DEMO ROOM

you could use a wall mount CCTV cabinet, and UTP twisted pair transceivers, this would be somewhat like cable managment devices. It is also neat and simple, and if using the active UTP you will get crisp video with no video loss. You could put your DVR in there also, they have mounts for PCs and Keyboards, laptops, etc. Rory

    Starter Book

here are 2 of the most popular online resources for CCTV training: http://www.stamweb.com/index.htm http://www.ltctrainingcntr.com/ I have the LTC book, its great for service, though it would be better in a program format for searching etc, on a pocket PC or Laptop, when on the job.

    Starter Book

you wont find anything in the CCTV industry to do with computer networking, you will need to probably get 2 books, one for networking and video capture (not CCTV) and then another for CCTV. At least not yet, even regular CCTV books are a rare breed, or a well kept secret.

    GE CMOS Camera

its brand new, no pricing on it yet. I imagine it will be for sale after the show, along with other new CCTV products from GE. 2 other new products are the 15" LCD 500TVL Monitor, and a Day/Night Zoom Camera. Trust me, once its released for sale ill have one here at my office Rory
  9. no problem, page 18 of that manual tells you how to adjust the back focus. And yes, you will need to use the C mount adaptor in this case. Rory

    web camera and networking

just use a router at each location for the firewall purpose. The systems should come with its own remote software. If you were using a Kalatel DVR, you could view 64 cameras in one window at one time, from multiple sites, not sure what your web cams can do.
  11. Did you adjust the back focus on the Camera itself? What type of camera is it? Can you try it on another camera? Are they both the same Formats? Like 1/3". The lens is a 1/2" Lens from specs I found on the web, is the camera 1/2" or 1/3"?

    GE CMOS Camera

what camera exactly are you talking of?
  16. im testing one of these now, not bad, for the price, all cameras connect to this little box, which uses a USB cable to connect to the PC USB, then you use local or remote software to watch it. The local server has to be turned on to wait for call, like PC anywhere. Anyone want to test out the remote part let me know. Their web site is www.vdomain.com its the Video Jet USB. Download Observer software for remote viewing and Ill give you an IP. Rory

    2 store design

What do y'all think ? Got a client with 2 stores about 200 feet apart. Running mutli pair in one small conduit from store to store for the alarm expander and the video. It will use the NVT Passive 4 channel Transceiver as there are 3 cameras at store#2, and each camera at the 2nd store will have UTP connection built in. He wants day night, as he will turn off most of the lights at night, at least he will leave a row of lights on in the store sales sections, elsewhere it will be pitch/near dark. Im going to use the Provideo Day/Night IR Dome for the warehouse where it will be pitch/near dark. Alll others are day/night Kalatel domes, a mixture of auto iris varifocal and fixed lens. He will also have 2 cameras just for observation, for now. Chose the 10 channel 80GB storesafe, as that is in stock at my distributor at this time. It will be online with Cable Internet for Remote Video. We should be having a Plasma Display in the Main Store's Office, not sure whether it will be for the PC Software, or a high grade plasma/LCD for the CCTV Monitor use. Smaller LCD'S will be used for the 2 observation cameras at certain locations. This is a audio/electronic store so finding a good plasma/LCD to use will be easy The store will have them throughout as well just for TV. There will be a LCD/plasma/flat screen at the door for the front door camera for clients to see, ceiling/wall hung, yet to decide which one to use. Indoor Day Night Mini Dome?

Hi Alan Ive already used that before, was not impressed actually. Anyway, Im looking for a standard indoor mini dome, day night, non vandal proof. Also while you are online, do you know how to install the peephole cameras, I mean where the wire would go from the camera to get it off the door, special cable or something? Thanks Rory

    times

ive noticed the post times arent in the US, where is the server located? just wondering... it gets kind of confusing, as its not the time here (bahamas is the same as Florida/NY, etc). Does the forum script have the feature to show the times based on the visitors geographical location? Rory
