360 degree cameras and milestone
rory replied to sommere's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
yeah but they still dont show any regular low light/night time apps. in one video it just shows i need to add a seperate $500 IR to barely accomplish the visibility of a non MP camera without IR that does it for 1/10th the cost. But they arent alone, rarely do CCTV camera manufacturers show theirs at night either, but then rarely do they even show them in the daytime also, as every application differs and one might expect theirs to look the same. Really, and this goes for ALL manufacturers, do they magically think crime happens more in the day than at night?? or that everyone wants to blast their area with IR or visible light or make the video slower than it already is to accomplish even the basics... -
same here, dahua rebranded, 3 minute install and its cheaper.

I love it how rarely MP camera manufacturers show low light / night time video samples. -
Have My clients view their cameras through company website
rory replied to sicctv's topic in Computers/Networking
Basically yes. Its most likely an ActiveX but it really depends as not all use a single ActiveX now, some may have the entire page wrapped into a single activeX meaning no customization can be done - though they might also have a single activeX available in an SDK download (from the manufacturer). View the page source when you connect to the DVR and look for an OCX or CAB (cab contains the files needed to install/register it and its dependencies). Then need to download that. You could then basically just dump that into a blank webpage and using their source code as an example create your own. Or just save the page from the DVR and look for anything resembling and IP, user, pass etc and change that - it could be a daunting task depending on the DVR, best to first tell us the DVR and or send a link to a webpage for it. -
Voltage Loss Over Cat5 - 12V DC and 24VAC

you'd be surprised, people would spend an arm and a leg on the latest and greatest toy but still want to be cheap on the labour ... -

Tell them stop being cheap and lazy and run the 18awg When they get the EX30 they will be thankful they ran 18awg -
I would also suggest a separate AVR if they can afford it (normally half the price of the UPS), I have been witnessing alot of various brands of UPS fail with AVR recently during a couple months of massive power outages, surges, and brownouts here. In fact the AVR is the most important as that is what protects the hardware - I have seen them along with UPS catch fire from huge surges also, so nothing is 100%. Additionally UPS can be prone to failure in where when there are constant power outages and brownouts, they occasionally dont send power back to the devices - not something one wants happen to a security system (then again a generator or solar might be best also). If one is privileged enough to have clean consistent power in their area though, then a simple UPS should suffice.

When in doubt just run 18awg or 14awg. -

I think they are just mentioning the distance limit for networking? -
Go direct to the worse camera, camera 4 for example, put a monitor on it, and see how it looks. If its still a bad image, then power the camera right there on its own power supply, and see how it is then. This will at least let you know if its a power or video issue and if the DVR is involved. Since you mentioned 2.5A DC and cat5 though - If you can, run 18awg loosely from that 2.5A power supply direct to the camera and see if it fixes the problem.

Buy Sony CCD, you will wish you had. Sharp is for people that just want to see something and dont care what it looks like.

Geo was good from 7.0-8.12 but then they started going downhill for DVRs. Not sure if this problem exists with the NVR installed type of the software. Ive never seen this error though myself, my issue is the requirement of literally a super computer now, and Win7 having issues with direct draw overlay using their Webcam/DMMultiview/Remote Viewlog software on certain Win7 computers - while other DVR's software tested on the same computers have no such issues.

Have My clients view their cameras through company website

Ok simply: 1-You create a database and add client information to it: username, login pass, site types, site ips. 2-You create a dynamic web page for each site type: this could include things like axis IP video using javascript, geovision using activeX with a mixture of vbscript and javascript (eg, my previous example), geovision using quicktime, a single custom made activeX for specific DVRs, etc 3-When the user logs into a page on your site it shows list of sites and they select one, that then opens the specific page for that site. Here is an example for Axis: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23345&p=139524 -
the digital zoom is pretty useless though. Too pixelised even at just a couple marks.

Id just run a separate 18awg power cable as its so cheap anyway. If you ever upgrade to [powerful] IR cameras you will be glad you did.

Ive used the Blue-i and wont again, was not worth it, the WDR really doesnt work all that well, people's faces need to be, well, WHITE to begin with. I ended up having to use BLC instead. BTW the monalisa's SLBC seems to work just as well or better. This is what I used http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1121 And this http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1141 Seems the only real difference is the pixels are more on the 44's. But that matters little since NTSC is only 720x480 anyway. Also the 44's WDR is lower than the other ones.

Hotel 16 Channel DVR System Recommendation
rory replied to cpoore's topic in Digital Video Recorders
sorry but as per the forum rules, links to online stores and dealer pricing are not allowed (those shops sell well below retail). I replaced the links with the manufacturer links (except one I could not find, AvTech DVRs dont have any model with that number). -
id think cat5 is too thin, ive used telco wire in the past for short distances but even that is not recommended. Also you have to power the mic, and the wiring will differ from one to the next.

thats why I like Dahua DVRs, can get the SDK right from their site, they also have a Linux and Mac software. Anyway, going by the site you posted that seems to be a distributor not a manufacturer. They have alibaba on their page and Ive yet to see a real manufacturer with that link, plus never heard of them.

Yellow, Pink? Do they have any thug colors? if I go in the ghetto with a pink screw driver its all over -
Hey guys, just names, no links please ... thanks (admin may remove this thread anyway eventually) BTW search for 123 reviews as that is the same company .. It has been like pulling teeth dealing with at least one sales person there that was assigned to me, they even sent all the wrong products on the last order!! I'd have to go back there with a different name just in the hope of getting a sales agent that has a clue

yes you can do this, though depends on the DVR whether or not it uses activeX which most do, and then they HAVE to use IE (or an IE plugin). EG without the login, for Geo: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/webcam/ -
GV 8.4 missing "Pelco Dome" in drop down list of PTZ Control
rory replied to stabbi's topic in Geovision
Yes there is a virtual PTZ controller, as with most DVR software these days. Thats the reason you would be selecting a PTZ dome, is to select a protocol that will work with the PTZ -
