Good 16 Channel DVR for business use? Suggestions?
rory replied to Bmonaweck02's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Cant mention dealer pricing here (per the rules) so .... basically retail even the CNB and Dahua will be around $1000+ Even at dealer pricing (which you might have seen) its pushing it at the price you mentioned, but they are the best bang for buck for that price or close to it. Dahua has much more mobile phone support and supports Mac and Linux and also is generally cheaper. You could step up to their units that hold more drives like 4-8 SATA drive support. -
Anyone used the Samsung HLC feature to try and capture plates at least where there is enough light? Similar to the CNB eclipse feature which I didnt have great luck with in testing.
-
Then it must be good.

More than that, but still much cheaper than the other Reg cameras. Ive used the REG-L before and it worked, have you used the REG-X and if so, how does it compare to the REG-L?
-
Thats true, could try IETabs for Firefox or Chrome http://www.ietab.net

Alot of activeX Controls dont support IE9 yet. Quite frankly I dont blame them. Have you tried the desktop software that comes with it, if it has any?

They released a new version, 2.10, 27/05/11 Will have the files on mediafire by morning, its much larger.. 595MB Split into 6x95mb files. uploading now. I wont get to test it probably until sometime this week though.

I havent installed new cameras, just repaired or replaced a few for the same type, but it was in a similar application, isles around the same length, a little narrower, and 30 feet high to the ceiling. They had some IR bullets in there (among others including IR domes) but ofcourse at that height the average Color IR camera does nothing at night when the lights go off. In this case they dont care about that though as the other main entrances of the warehouse have lighting and are covered otherwise. If you want to light that up, will need some serious IR .. forget any IR domes to begin with, and with bullets its still going to be so so .. look for something with a 5-50mm lens and 200' of claimed IR ... it will always be less but since its an isle the objects will help the IR once it is more powerful than the average IR bullet/Dome. The height is the killer. Also need to come back from the start of the isle around 20'. You could probably use a 2.8-11mm camera also and zoom it to 11mm but typically the IR is pretty weak on them. The 5-50mm ones will cost alot more though. Problem is though you still wont see much for identification beyond 30-50'. Really need at least 3 cameras, maybe 4, for that length. I told my clients that also but they are pretty much stuck on 2 per isle for now, they already have 60 cameras as it is, includes a shop and offices, outside, loading docks etc. Example: http://www.samsungcctvusa.com/products/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=280 Looks like you could spin the mount upside down and remove the sunshield. Otherwise, some Domes, drop them down with some pendant mounts, and add separate Infrared. Example: http://www.samsungcctvusa.com/products/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=284# http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1056 Or less expensive, and 2.8-11mm ... http://cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?inc=spe&seqx_prod=1072#p_v1 Just ideas .. maybe someone that has done this already can pitch in

Port Forward Scheme to access cameras
rory replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Made it a sticky. Should have 255 ports right, minus the 1 for the router? -
I live in a hot climate and never seen that happen, except when moisture is trapped inside.

Port Forward Scheme to access cameras

Anything to do with IP cameras or servers go in the IP camera and server sub forum. Or at least please specify in the title that it is IP cameras. Otherwise the moderator will move it without notice. -
Yes I always max out the DN switch over, seems to make no difference. The noise you get and whether it switches seems to depend on the camera placement. In general though as a DN camera coming from the perspective of having done 99.9% DN apps for 10 years, the camera is a PITA. It doesnt use a photocell to switch, thats the greatest issue. Also it is an AGC Day Night camera, thats the 2nd greatest issue. lots of light low light, lots of noise, wont switch to BW - on the rare occasion it switches

2 top cameras, cheapest on the market, bottom is the VBM at either 4mm approx or 2.8mm, managed to get it to switch to BW somehow.

Port Forward Scheme to access cameras

Perhaps but wrong forum for it. -
Just curious which ones you have had success with and for what type of applications.
-
Just an FYI, as this is not the IP camera sub forum, everything in this sub forum is about regular CCTV cameras, and anything that is not is moved.

Port Forward Scheme to access cameras

The camera doesnt have a port, the DVR does. It depends on which DVR is being used. -
Best tweak ever, install XP Otherwise much of the tweaking for XP can be applied to Windows 7, it just takes more steps and will never be as fast. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/articles/pc-dvr-tweaks.asp Basically, visual tweaks and services tweaks will give you the most performance gain, also using a faster OS HDD like a fast Solid State or even a Raptor.

Sure, if you buy direct from CNB. But 99.9% of us buy from retailers or distributors so that and other options dont exist.
-
How does that work when they only sell them with BNC?

Yes but I wouldnt wish PTC on my worst enemy " title="Applause" />
