ProVisual DVR-16214-AQH-1 vs. IC Realtime DVR16D30 DVR
rory replied to Inventour's topic in Digital Video Recorders
If you need MAC support, then go with the IC model, or similar. Its a Dahua DVR, sold under lots of different brand names. As to the other off topic posts here, if he wants to use IP cameras then I dont suggest using a Dahua. From the OP's posts though, he just needs a DVR. -
Do you have any installation tips?
rory replied to Numb-nuts's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
hope you charge them extra -
Yeah thats the doctor i saw today, told me its gout, or least he thinks it is, least he confirms its not broken. Strange how dangerous sitting down can be
-
How do they look at night? No IR ... normal exposure.
-
nah I stopped googling for medical advise a while ago after I got fed up finding even though I only had a small cold I could also have the ebola viris or some thousand other diseases that may cause the same symptoms
-
Bingo, thats what the Doctor thinks it is, didnt even have to ask him. He says its not broken though, but joints swollen obviously, no need for an xray. Never heard of his gout until today, sounds like some medieval plague. It sure does hurt though! And ive had stomach issues for this whole week so cant even take painkillers right now
-
I was on the phone for like an hour, just dont remember hitting it. I was thinking pinched nerve also but then even with the pain I should be able to move it. Anyway, maybe its just dislodged, guess only way to tell is with an xray ... never broken a bone in my life even with 2 major car accidents and countless other things.

Q-See QT428 8CH DVR consumer review (with pictures)
rory replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
there is a player from the manufacturer that lets you play or convert them. you can download the files straight to AVI using their PSS Network software also. or there is my custom dav to avi converter .. just a rebuild of the player SDK. I also just put up a program that converts multiple dav files and monitors a folder for new files to convert. -
Q-See QT428 8CH DVR consumer review (with pictures)
rory replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Although I havent used the specific QC444, the following is in reference to the same model under a different name. (the actual manufacturer is Dahua) Locally you should be able to see the video, only over the network it normally does not show. I would bypass that totally and use a service like DynDns.com, and enter the info into your router instead so that way you can admin the router as well if needed, and other PCs. The manufacturer has apps for almost all OS and Mobile phones. (see link in my sig) -

What I want to know is this .. whats the "Harris Detector"? ps. yes nimrod just advertised the site for them .. wow .. links and all LOL I would have to remove all the recent posts. -
This is why I could never be a Brit. Guns are a woman's best friend, especially when dealing with burglars. We follow some of the same old laws as the UK .. guns are in general illegal here .. except shotgun for hunting pigeon and need a license for that. Ofcourse most get the shotgun license for self defense anyway. All the criminals have guns though, machine guns, aks, etc.

for anyone that might be interested ... just uploaded a finalized program (well its a beta): converts multiple .dav to .avi files and monitors a folder for new .dav files to convert. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/cctv-software/dahua-dav-monitor.asp Its a self extractable exe or just right click to extract with WINRAR or other.

No worries, before I got into the alarm industry some 12 years or so ago (no longer in it) I purchased one of those little alarms you double stick on the door... made a whistling sound ... ha ... now i have 3 loud sirens
-
Thats how I roll ps. all except the moat.. . just cant afford the oil right now
-
Dont forget the iron bars on the doors and windows, and rolled razor wire along the wall Spikes and Regular barbed wire is fairly easy to get over Some Optex Beams around the perimeter also, just in from the moat of burning oil. Iron bars will slow them down at getting inside and disabling the alarm system, and give you time to get the shotgun

Yes underpowering it can damage it over time. Also if not getting enough power for the IR, it normally wont work at night when it tries to turn on the IR, generally thats been my experience with IR cameras that have been underpowered or using too thin a power cable, so you normally know to fix it before it gets damaged.

effective cheap ,i.r lighting - that works 1-35m .......?
rory replied to swedishbriefs's topic in Security Cameras
That was a very small enclosed area and it was still just dim IR. Most cheap IR cams should do that. -
Have you found Mobile DVR to start a new trend CCTV Market?
rory replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi Dima Do you work for SerVision? -
Cant watch that in my country (oh yeah thanks CBS, least fox lets me watch their stuff ) Well depends .. if its outside the visible spectrum, Infrared LEDs, it has to be a Color IR or Day Night camera for IR to affect it and the IR cut filter (if the camera has one) has to be removed such as due to low light ... otherwise a standard color camera with a fixed IR cut filter wont see it. If its visible LEDs then it could cause some glare but how bad it is would depend on what camera it is. Bottom line, it would make more sense to just wear a mask. But it looks good for TV, I guess masks have been done already

another method I forgot about, using activeX inside IE. similar to whats on my site for 4-16 way video (see Geovision WEBCAM) In fact you can use the 8.32 activeX installer from that link, as this is for 8.3 activeX. Or just grab any Geovision 8.3 + OCX Installer (includes codecs + livex) The attached text file has the site connection settings hard coded into the html page, 25 way, has basic instructions in the javascript for how to use it. Can be a little heavy with 25 cameras in IE but I just did a test with 24 cameras from 2 sites and it was okay even on a P4 3Ghz. Attached it as a text file, save it as a .htm or .html etc and open with notepad or other to edit the sites, then just open it with IE on your desktop or put it on your site. I even put in a function to allow one to set the connection for all cameras to highest resolution (obviously for local network only). There's alot that can be done between javascript and vbscript but in this case its limited to IE so I dont spend much time on it. Although you could try IE Tabs in google chrome. Had to make it a zip file as the forum wouldnt allow me to upload a text file (LOL). stream25way.zip

Sounds like cheap IR domes and if thats the case half the time they look blurry or out of focus at night so glare from headlights will be normal, plus they normally just are really bad cameras to begin with, cheap cameras have poor light handling and add IR in there its a bad mix. Also make sure they just arent dirty, IR at night and water marks will cause it to do that also.

GV110D Issues and 8.4 not displaying H.264 cameras
rory replied to ultimatesecurity's topic in Geovision
I cant speak for the IP cameras, but 8.4 is a huge CPU hog, make sure upgrade the computer too as its a huge difference between using 8.31 and 8.4. I went back to 8.33 as a 3 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 10 cameras was using 80-90% CPU, while in 8.33 it was using 30%. Also, nothing to do with the IP cameras again, but in 8.33 you have Mpeg4 while in 8.4 it doesnt, Mpeg4-ASP uses more CPU and H.264 uses even more CPU. Not sure if the issue is your systems are not fast enough or not, just a heads up.
