KLV-2812DN is the model you want, but again, not sure they come in an M12 thread. Most domes and bullets that use TND Varifocal lenses are M13. If its a fixed lens it wont have an IR Cut filter, that is placed over the camera chip. In the AI Varifocal lens the IR Cut filter is part of the Auto iris mechanism.

outdoor cameras (true day/night, cold weather, vandal proof)

0.02 lux is fine, in fact that is very low lux, most others either lie about their min lux sensitivity or post the faceplate level. -

Id like to try that KT&C VDE dome. .. found it in the US on 123's site. Though 123 sent me the WRONG kt&c cameras last time so not sure if id risk them again! Search down this model: KPC-VDE101NUV17 -
maybe the DVR cant process the higher frame rates and quality with the compression used? With the PC Geo DVRs for example, the 1480, even with a Core 2 Duo using H.264 (which uses more CPU) goes around 80-90% CPU usage at default frames, drop the frames down to around 15fps max then the CPU usage drops considerably, also change to Mpeg4 from H.264 and again, less CPU usage.

DVR Trying to send info back to the Manufacturer ???
rory replied to QC444's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Are you sure its going out from the DVR? Have you checked the IPs under Multicast, Nas/FTP etc? Maybe its just something Q-see put in there, dont see anything from the Dahua DVRs we use. -
I used 2 well known US brands of baluns in the past and the video was worse at just approx 200', powered 24VAC local near the cameras. But they were only $20 baluns. That was a few years back though.

firewall ports info for geovision 8.4to connect to center v2
rory replied to firstsurveillance's topic in Geovision
the default CenterV2 incoming port is 5551 so you need to open it for outgoing on each DVR and for incoming for the centerV2 PC -

They might need IR though, many stores are pitch dark indoors at night and wont add lights, not even the monalisa can see without some light. That said in that case we normally use Turret IR Domes. CNB does have them but as long as they are 1/3" CCD most brands will work for indoors, even color IR works fine in most indoor cases, but depends on the camera as some color IR just suck. But even then one wont need the IR for every camera, put some high res color cams on the cash area, entrance, etc, then just the basic IR cameras for general views.

In this case it doesnt look like anything is failing. the OP is doing it all wrong to begin with. They are using their DVR's login as the SMTP server's login. They are forwarding port 25 to their DVR which does nothing. Additionally their ISP could be blocking port 25, if they are using their website's SMTP server instead of their ISP's and still trying to use port 25, then normally it will fail. Nothing to do with what device or software they are using. Though Im sure Exacq probably tests their email code with more US based servers than say a company in China would, and it can vary from one to the next plus its ever changing - eg. I had code that worked fine a couple years ago especially with my ISP's SMTP server - now it does not.

use your ISP's SMTP Server name or IP address when using Port 25. Ping the server name to get the IP.

Actually the point of the thread is someone asking what to use for a particular application, everyone here has gone off topic. Anyway IP on a budget? CNB IP cameras? Comes with free NVR software Or Geovision IP Cameras, also come with free NVR software (need a fast computer though). Others also mention Vivotek, though not sure if they have NVR software included. Good luck ... -
Great, glad to hear that. Okay so we can assume that config file is a general file then for at least 2 of their DVRs BTW the first time I saw that was last year when I first updated the firmware on my test DVR, I was like oh no ... thought it was finished. But at the time Dahua was giving out the firmwares etc so their support tech sent me that config file and voilà .

Actually the cameras ARE digital, it's the transmission that is not. For example most 480-650TVL cameras have 768x494 total effective pixels NTSC. This is before it leaves the camera. -
They sold you a PAL version probably as they are located on the PAL side of the world? Well I could .. but have to be warned, I am not sure if this config can be dangerous or not, like a full firmware, if for example did not work for that DVR then it could cause the DVR not to start. If you understand the risks and still want to try it, by all means. It is version N5_V2.606.0.R.100107 CONFIG_General_Eng_NP_General_WebEng_General_N5_V2.606.0.R.100107.bin I used it with LE-A's firmware V2.606.0024.2.R.20101102 and also the newer 2.606.0024.4.R.20110120 the file name itself has no model number and says General, unlike the firmware files, so perhaps it will work. Like I said though, use at your own risk. Attached below Use the included software to connect to the DVR over the local network (not internet) then add the file and click BIOS. OR, put the .BIN file on a USB Flash Drive (Fat formatted) and rename it update.bin then go into the DVR info and version section and click update. ConfigNetworkUpgrade.zip

Sounds like a job for a bunch of DFL-20's cheap 0.03 lux color mini dome cameras ... throw up a bunch of cheap KT&C 0.05lux Standard BW bullets on the outside .. a 32 channel dahua .. and good to go -
instead of the SMTP server name, try it's IP address. ping smtp.myisp.com it will return the IP, enter that in the Server box instead. Dahua says you can only use the SMTP server name if you set the DNS. See this document: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/upload/Email%20Function.pdf However I just performed a test using my ISP's SMTP server name and it works with the newer firmware even with no DNS set (default 8.8.8.8 or 0.0.0.0). It may differ depending on one's network setup and or ISP, firmware version, and DVR model.

not quite black and white but still a big difference, this was a $200 Color IR camera though http://www.bahamassecurity.com/go/ICRColorNone
-
What lens does it have? If its a varifocal eg. 4-8mm then it may have an IR cut filter, TDN. If so that could be sticking. Also if the IR is disconnected on some newer TDN IR cameras, it stays in Black and white. if its a fixed lens like 3.6mm, its likely a Color IR only, with no IR cut filter at all. Without getting too technical, this alone can cause the colors to be washed out during the day, so much under bright light that it could look BW if its a really crappy camera.

Yes that is exactly the problem. Have you gone into the setup at the DVR itself (not over the network). It wont let you change the standard using PSS. Did you buy this new or 2nd hand? Its strange it came like that. Dahua had in the past few months given out firmware updates but some of them were PAL. Therefore they then have another update which gives you the NTSC option, but this has to then be changed at the DVR itself. But if this was a new DVR the reseller/distributor should have automatically had the NTSC firmware. Otherwise maybe it was a private sale, 2nd hand? I have an update file (called config NTSC) but it is not for that model of DVR. I have it for the 1U only. Im not sure if it would work on the other DVR models. Also it is only for firmware version 2.606.0024.4 So if your current firmware version is not that, then it may also fail. Your best bet is to request an updated NTSC firmware for that DVR. Unfortunately Dahua will now tell you to ask your reseller. If that is impossible, such as if it were purchased 2nd hand, then maybe ask Dahua for the config file instead (they may provide that).

The 2 times that happened to both myself and a client in the past, non Geo Related, it was a bad monitor in one case, and a bad monitor VGA cable in the other case (thin monitor cable was built into the LCD and was damaged). But also do you have power options for Windows on high performance, so nothing goes into sleep mode? Geo generally recommend Intel and Nvidia chipsets only, though cant say that is the issue there as it works for a few days before it happens, normally chipset problems cause issues like not being able to install the drivers.

Yeah I looked at a VCM dome again today at a client which I put up some time ago and it does look good .. i dont know why but the box cameras just arent as good an image as the dome ... its backwards with them. I went box on that other job BTW so they have housings already installed and can add in some megapixel cameras when they are ready to spend more than $200 a camera
-
The answer is yes but it depends what type of camera it is. Is it a color IR, or a True Day Night (with IR Cut Filter)?
-
Yeah but for example the Ipad and my experience with it, its got a slow response, limited mobile OS, screen gets really dirty easily (being a touch screen), hard to handle (slips around easily), even with the pop up keys its still not anything like a real keyboard. With a laptop one can just add a number of USB clip on cameras and any other devices they like, and since its a full desktop OS they can use their regular game, video, or office software on it as well, plus the price of the tablets are much more. With a netbook one can carry it with 2 small fingers (least with mine). I guess some like the tablets but myself personally, I cant stand them and never could, slow touch response and digital keyboard alone vex me enough not to use them. My first touch device was an HP Ipaq BTW. I dont even use a laptop for any real work, unless it at least has a mouse and keyboard attached.
