  1. plug the cameras into a TV RCA input using a BNC-RCA adaptor and see if the cameras work. If they do then you have software/PC issues, if not then yes its your cameras. try to connect it direct at the camera location, so to make sure its not cable/connector problems. Check your connections also if it is still a problem. Meter the cable, or try another camera.

  2. you could just use 2 lite Q series 16 channal muxes, and loop out, same thing, except the matrix will switch images on the 4 other monitors. You could always just add video distribution amps to the mux also, depending on how many monitors/cameras you will need to take care of.

  3. yep, a little pricey but will do the job if you have more than 16 cameras.

  4. good wireless can get expensive, there is someone else on here who just made one.

You will need a TX for each camera, and a reciever. Also need a good antenna/yaggi, solar if you will not have any power. If you have power, you may as well try to get video cable back to the system one time for best quality video. If you can, if not, check out www.videotransmitters.com (VideoComm), good Wireless products, not cheap though. They have some good tech support if you need design help.

Trango has some good long range, like for PTZ 12 miles, etc.

Is it long range, short, where will the cameras be going, seeing, day/night, PTZ? etc.

  5. id go pelco over Sony. I sell Kalatel myself, but they are all good.

High End means Better Quality picture as it has Higher Resolution.

Color or BW, the choice is yours. I dont even sell B/W only cameras anymore, besides the bullet camera cheap one. I sell the Day/Night's, so its Color in Light, or BW in low light. Low light color cameras will see alot in low light, but BW will give the best quality picture in low light.

  6. havent seen it yet, but then it would not be the same, loss of signal on coax, and coax can just go right into the DVR/Mux.

smart wiring products also have CatTv as well as UTP and telco.

  7. you could use a wall mount CCTV cabinet, and UTP twisted pair transceivers, this would be somewhat like cable managment devices. It is also neat and simple, and if using the active UTP you will get crisp video with no video loss. You could put your DVR in there also, they have mounts for PCs and Keyboards, laptops, etc.

  8. you wont find anything in the CCTV industry to do with computer networking, you will need to probably get 2 books, one for networking and video capture (not CCTV) and then another for CCTV. At least not yet, even regular CCTV books are a rare breed, or a well kept secret.

  9. its brand new, no pricing on it yet. I imagine it will be for sale after the show, along with other new CCTV products from GE.

2 other new products are the 15" LCD 500TVL Monitor, and a Day/Night Zoom Camera.

Trust me, once its released for sale ill have one here at my office

  10. just use a router at each location for the firewall purpose.

The systems should come with its own remote software. If you were using a Kalatel DVR, you could view 64 cameras in one window at one time, from multiple sites, not sure what your web cams can do.
