    Avtech DVR scan disk issues

Hi, Okay, thanks. So if I were to get a different harddrive and put it in the DVR, it should work? Could this be any old harddrive? Do I need software installed on the replacement harddrive for it to work? It would be helpful to know why the harddrive has to be formatted in the DVR as well. What about the old harddrive, would it be possible to check if it works by plugging it in my PC and running some kind of check on it? Sorry to be so clueless. Thanks again.
  2. Hello, My father has an avtech security system with 4 cameras and a DVR. I'm not sure which model. I've included some pics to help identify it. It worked fine for the first year or so, but a while ago it got to the end of the space on the harddrive and we assumed it would start recording over again (which it had done several times previously), but this time it attempts to scan disc, but never completes, generally stopping around 70% (picture of this attached). We cannot do anything to stop this scan as none of the menu functions are operable whilst the scan is in progress. Any suggestions, please? I did see the tips on resetting the system (tp5 and tp6) and tried this, but although it reset to default on restart, it had no effect on the scan disk problem. I was thinking I could take the harddrive out and format it in my PC, but presumably I would lose the software running the system that way? My father is not worried about retrieving any video, but just wants the system operational again. Thanks.
