  1. I would hope so. We've worked with Genetec for quite a while, most of our customers are very happy with them but I always like to hear unfiltered feedback. They have a lot of areas for improvement and I think a lot of their recent business has came because of their huge reference list more so then thorough product evaluations.
  2. IndigoVision and Avigilon both started off as closed platforms I think they realized that model simply doesn't work. Thanks for the review on Genetec, might have to take another look at IndigoVision's lined up.
  3. Just curious if part of the evaluation included the companies current financial state. I may be wrong but I was under the impression that IndigoVision was having some financial problems. I do remember taking a look at their products a few years back, they where always very adamant about latency and compression. I was really impressed with their product at the time, glad to see they're still doing new things. If you don't mind me asking, why did Genetec not make the cut?
  4. PM me if you would like to go into this a bit further then can be discussed on the forum. I can also get you the best possible pricing on Avigilon if your planing to go that route. Another Avigilon partner ! welcome to the Forum Thanks! I do believe in using experienced local integrators, especially for a gaming environment. With that being said, he asked us for our advise, which we gave him to the best of our ability. His budget is $15,000 USD a month, not total. And shipping is not that expensive, you probably didn't use a Air Freight broker who would of shipped the items on a commercial airline, I've shipped an entire pallet to the middle east for less then $500.
  5. I would stick with Avigilon for your software needs if your going to go with their cameras. If your budget allows go for the Enterprise version of the software and add a redundant server. What are your storage requirements, how long do you need to keep footage for at full frame rate and resolution and how many cameras? Are you going to utilize data aging so that after a certain period of time you start dropping frames and re-compressing footage to allow for longer storage? Once you've figured that out then you can build your server accordingly. As for the switches you have many different options depending upon your needs, the total amount of planned cameras, servers, and storage arrays as well as POE requirements so I wouldn't decide on a switch until you have those items sorted out first. PM me if you would like to go into this a bit further then can be discussed on the forum. I can also get you the best possible pricing on Avigilon if your planing to go that route.
  6. Avigilon is a great choice. Easy to use and reliable software, relatively inexpensive cameras and very inexpensive encoders that will allow you to integrate your Analog cameras into the new system and slowly upgrade to IP Megapixel cameras. Their 2 MP H.264 Cameras (Fixed, Dome, or Bullet) will give you the full 30 FPS. Their H.264 video encoders support 4 cameras each and stream/record at 30 FPS per camera at full D1. Also their encoders are licensed per device, so you would only have to buy 1 license per encoder instead of 4. I would recommend the Enterprise version of their software giving you unlimited server connections, fail-safe recording, virtual matrix and collaborative investigations. In regards your server requirements it depends on how many cameras you will plan to deploy as well as fail-safe and storage requirements. With that being said their are literally thousands of choices in IP Cameras and software, everyone has their favorite so you really have to take a look at all your options, Milestone, Exacq, Genetec, etc. For cameras look at all the major brands Arecont Vision, Axis, Bosch, Sony, Samsung etc. Download and install demos if possible, do all your research into each camera and preferably start by purchasing only a couple of cameras and test them out alongside your current setup, no need to jump in head first. For $15,000 a month, you can get allot accomplished in just the first phase. If you need any MSRP pricing on Avigilon PM me i'll be happy to help.
  7. Hi All. Anyone here have any experience with a city wide surveillance system utilizing NLOS wireless technology. I have been looking for products that operate in licensed spectrum that can allow for approx 15 Mbps effective throughput to the client but haven't had very much luck. Preferably capable of NLOS connectivity up to 5 miles. City landscape is mostly dessert, very few trees, but a few rather large buildings. Have utilized a lot of Mesh and Point to Multipoint systems but I am in a situation where a NLOS product might be more effective. Any ideas? Thanks guys.
