Having difficulty with a maglock and an automatic sliding do
ghurty posted a topic in General Access Control Discussion
I am trying to put in a maglock onto an automatic sliding door. I know about the Time Delay Modules, however in this case I have another problem. It is a nursing home so it requires a delayed egress. Triggering I have worked out. But according to code, once the door is opened it has to stay unlocked until reset. With the TDM, it will automatically lock in a max of 99 seconds. Any ideas? Thank you -
Problem getting a camera to work on an analog system
ghurty posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am normally an IP camera guy, but I am fooling around with an analog camera and I am having issues. The DVR is a digimerge DH200. The camera is a VLB7IR from ATV. The camera does not work with the NVR. I have a cheap junk $20 camera that does work, but not this one. The camera powers up, because the IR lights turn on. Any suggestions? Thank you -
Hi, How/where do people get the leads from to bid on projects such as banks/grocery stores, etc..? Thanks

Is it practical to use 1 12mm lens to film entire 100ft hall
ghurty posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If one is trying to film a 100ft hallway, is it practical to use a 12mm lens, or will everything that is near be completely distorted? I am trying to decide between using one 1mp with a 12mm lens or two 1mp with a 2.8mm lens on each end. Of course the one 1mp w/12mm will be much cheaper but will it be really useable? Thanks -

Thanks for the tip. What is the greatest distance you have used the D62 in a hallway style environment? This is for a school to keep see what is doing with the kids. -

Got it. Thanks. That just reduced my costs. I was looking at a vivotek FD8131. Any experience on how this would handle a hallway (or any experience in general)? -

So you believe I would be able to get away with using one 1 megapixel camera with a 12mili meter lens to cover a whole hundred foot hallway? Thanks -
Any free or cheap NVR software that cupports vivotek and act
ghurty posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have a customer that is tight on a budget now and wants to hold off (temporarily) from purchasing a NVR software. Is there any software that can support acti and vivotek cameras, that is priced very low (or free)? We can use the one that comes with acti and vivotek because he has two acti cameras with 8 vivoteks. Thanks -

Does it allow the user to view 12 cameras at once? How resource intensive is it? -

A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
ghurty replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ive been reading about Avigilon and it is on my to do list to learn more about them. I see a lot of demos of their high end devices. How are their lower end ones? For the bulk of my installs the customer would rather have a few cheaper cameras rather than one or two more expensive ones. I have used the IPX-1700 series for when I am trying to cover a larger parking lot. I have a strip mall coming up that wants cameras in their parking lot for liability issues. The front parking lot is about 355ft X 200ft, so I am thinking the Avigilon may be good for there. Re Aimetis, it is a resource hog, but once you configure the stream properly, its not bad. I have probably set up 10 analytic licenses for it out of 100 regular licenses. -

We have been looking at the mobotix Q24. A few questions: 1) Over all what are your experiences with it? We would be targeting putting it up on ceilings rather the wall mounted 2) What ceiling height is it practical to install that you would get a good overall view while still being able to see decent amount of details when zooming on playback? 3) Is there a different product that is along the same lines that is better? Thank you -

A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
ghurty replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im looking at this camera for two needs: 1) As a camera to be used in restaurants or shops, allowing the owner to cut down in costs 2) Im attending a local B2B expo in the near future and I am looking for a camera that will show the wow factor of IP cameras vs analog. And setting up a camera like this in the exhibit hall, and letting the visitors play with it I think will be have an effect. Unless you think there is a better camera for that. Thank You -

How does the axis compare to the mobotix in quality? How big is the room that you put it in? If the camera will be mounted 25ft high, will I still be able to see peoples faces? Any videos of the s14/s15 in action? The info I can see on it, makes it look great. Thanks -

Is it worht spending more for Axis/Bosch over Vivotek/IPX?
ghurty posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have been fooling around with IP cameras for a bit now. I mainly use Vivotek and IPX. They are both pretty cost effective. But now I am looking at other options. I see Axis, ACTi, and Bosch for example make also high end cameras, however they are much more expensive then the equivalent (megapixel) Vivotek ones. Are they worth spending more money for? If yes, which IP camera brand gives the most for the money. Thanks -

Thank you. How does the D51 compare to the FD8136? Also you mentioned that the ACTi NVR software is one of the best, is it free for under X amount of cameras? Does it have search by mapping, etc..? -

For the outdoors I dont really need 2MP, that was just a hopeful wish. I will be covering a back loading dock of about 60ft * 25ft. Your point about IR is probably true, so I would look at an external IR illuminanator (any suggestions?) Now that I dont have the IR and 2MP requirement what is a good camera for the outdoors? I was looking at the TCM-1111 but I was told that is EOL. BTW I was told the E84 will be inte below $600 mark. For indoors, would those vivoteks be good enough (dont really need to much facial recognition quality) or is there an ACTi/Axis that is in the same price range that is better? Thanks So you want a 2MP outdoor dome with IR and day/night capabiltiies for the price of a Vivotek 1MP indoor mini-dome without IR or even day/night capabilities? Tall order there, not sure we are even in the same ballpark. At the moment, Axis does not have an outdoor dome with IR illuminators, maybe soon, but not yet. Also, they don't do 2MP domes, don't know why, but you can get 1,3 & 5MP. They do have outstanding low light performance in their 1MP dome. When they do, it will be the P3364-LVE with 1MP (720P) and my wild guess is it will be about $800 street. ACTi is in the same boat, they have a really good 2MP IR vandal dome due to come out this month called the E84. Don't know pricing but I'm assuming it displaces their aging TCM-7811 dome with low light performance which was priced at about $700 street. Currently, they don't have a 2MP dome, they have 1.3 and 4. Personally, not a huge fan of IR domes as they tend to have IR light bleed issues. Sometimes it's torrelable when the camera is new, but as the donut that seperates the lens from the LEDs ages, the situation may get worse. -

I was looking at going with 3 X FD8136 and looking for a better one (2MP but inexpensive) for outdoor w/ IR. What would you suggest would be a good ACTi/Axis equivalent? -

Until now, I have been using the free software that came with camera for low end, and aimetis for high end. I am trying to find something in the middle. I was suggested QNAP or NUUO. Originally I was told that Nuuo is much better, however after searching these forums I see the bandwith limitations of the mini. I have 3 current scenarios that I am looking at. What would you suggest I use for each? I have no problem building my own if necessary. If I would be building my own, is the Nuuo software the best way to go? 1 - Small 5 -1MP camera setup 2 - 5 - 1MP cameras, and hopefully hooking up to 14 existing analog cameras 3 - 15 - 1MP cameras + 8 3MP cameras. Thanks a million
