  1. Hi all, I'm quite new to the CCTV community and need some help regarding CCTV cables. I'm want to make my own cables and all the connectors I'm finding online are for RG59 cables but a lot of the pre-made cables on the market use much thinner cable with strands inside rather than the single copper core. The pre-made cables look and feel really flimsy, I doubt they're even 18 gauge but I don't know a lot about wiring. My question is this: do I have to use a RG59 siamese cable or are there different connectors that can be used with thinner cables? Has anyone made CCTV video cables using off the shelf wire and connected BNC ends to them? If so, what kind of connectors were used? thanks, Al
