I am building a house and would like to monitor the construction remotely. I have Comcast Internet at the Lot (30 Mbit). I have a couple of Arecont AV8185DN cameras. I also have Comcast at my house that is 50 Mbit.
Can anyone advise on best options to set this up, I am thinking of below:
Option 1: Setup Cameras, ispyconnect Server , firewall, POE switch, etc on site. and have that video streamed to the ispy site, that site would in turn send me alerts if a tresspasser sets off the motion detection.
Option 2: Setup just the camers, Firewall and poe switch on site. Then have a server at my house connect to the cammeras via NAT's on the firewall at the construction site. In this case I would not need to send the video to ispy and pay the subscription fees.
Questions:
1. Does either approach make more sense than the other?
2. I am having trouble getting iSpy Connect to work with the AV8185, is there a better software?
3. Does anyone know of a remote monitoring service besides iSpy connect?
4. Maybe I should use Exacq or Milestone? (I have no experience with either)
