Viewing DVR from web. I'm having issues.
cctv_down_under replied to rkm's topic in Computers/Networking
I might be wrong...very tired...but whatever device has your connection to the telephone line for internet or cable, this is the device that holds your static internet IP, the switch may be blocking things, i would go for a router, rather than the modem and a switch, or is that what you have already...I know the DLINKS well if you want me to remote in...PS is the webserver enabled and can the DVR see the internet? -
A couple of questions about Geovision
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Geovision
Actually the benifits are many....we usually only do camera systems of up to or exceeding 40 cameras, however due to the nature of our business, the office space is small but the network rack is large, having one screen does not suit our application, trying to watch 40 cameras on one screen is too hard and changing means you can miss something...now I know you will say that who really watches that many screens anyhow, but without revealing our type of business I just have to say that in our case we do. Because office space is always at a premium, we are thinking of using the keyboard option and mounting 3xVGA screens...also the people who run the systems arent all that smart or the smart ones want to play with the PC's...now I know you can lock it down, but it makes sense to dumb it down for them. -
1/ I heard that they have released Facial Recognition, I had heard of Facial Capture but not recognition I am using 8.1, is this something that is new? 2/Has anyone used the GV Keyboard, does it control VGA screens or does it control composite, quite often we use several Geo's and hate having seperate keyboards all the time.

I have seen a problem like this in older Geo systems, the issue is the white in the picture....too much white and the system wont record motion
-
Before you try anything else, if it is rolling pictures it may not be a ground loop, are you using 24VAC, if so it could be a phase shift problem...now please read carefully...ONLY if using 24VAC swap the - for the +, it is unlikely to fix the porblem but easier to test than the rest!

LCD Monitors with Analog Matrix Switcher
cctv_down_under replied to Krumpit's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
The reason would be the screens at a guess and not the matrix, the reason is once some screens lose signal, IE a change of camera it scans all available inputs...IE VGA HDMI etc until it finds one! -
Here are a few things to consider.... SKEW .. if not using actibe baluns then you ,ay run into a problem called SKEW, this rarely comes accross as wavy lines, but it can do, it usually looks like ghositing near any bright image...usually to the right of the image...this is caused by the colour burst arriving at different intervals based on the twists and the cut in the cable, it is very very common. You should never ever use CAT5E on a passive balun! Next consider that CAT5 does not have much protection or sheilding against interference, so if there is power or other things that could cause problems then re-route the cable. Lastly before you go RG6 and risk shimmer effects, why not go for a Bosch LTC0485 camera, the reason is that it has cable compensation built in, this means it can handle huge runs and can automatically measure the impedance....now they ar not cheap but considering you have to re run a cable, it is worth considering.

What DO I need If I want to have CCTV IP System ?
cctv_down_under replied to adindas's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Sorry but I dont tottaly agree with the above answers... Not necesarily so, there are standalone (box with embedded operating system) dvrs that will recieve IP video! Once again I disagree, that is one option, however soem DVR's are considered hybrid (they support both analogue and IP cameras) these canbe windows or standalone. Again not necessarilly so, there are so many other ways, you could stick to analogue and then use web servers at each camera, then you could adjust I-Frames or even stream with two codecs, you could even buy webservers with hard drives or flash memory, this means no need for traffic unless reviewing footage. IF IP that sure heps, but you could wire analogue to a 8 or 16 port webserver, or in fact you can run ethernet on RG59 with converters Again may not be needed because a webserver can convert any camera to an IP camera. -
Why do some of my cams have Blue Tint (see attached image)
cctv_down_under replied to jo2jo's topic in Security Cameras
Are they Ganz cameras by chance? -
I have had bad experiences using serial to usb converters, its ok if you only have a few USB ports but after reboots sometimes it assigns to a new USB port or worse still just stops working..... PS are you sure your PC Motherboard does not have a com port...yes I know that there is not one on the back of the PC, however you will usually find one in the junk that comes with the motherboard box and you might see a jumper called COM1 on the mainboard, check the additional cables that come with the motherboard box, because if there is one there then it is a simple plug in and does not require drivers (usually)

What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
I guess that question requires more factors before answering, it depends if the .7 correction is taken into account and if oversampling has been done or if indeed it is a digital image (IP camera). I was under the impression that 570TVL was the Maximum , but it depends if we are talking horizontal or vertical resolution? -

Viewing DVR from web. I'm having issues.
cctv_down_under replied to rkm's topic in Computers/Networking
Firstly check with your ISP that you have a static connection, then consider that if your DVR uses 2 ports that one might be for password verification, IE one of those ports might require two way access, some old routers let you decide which way the traffic goes. Then check that your DVR default port hasnt changed, unlikely though if it works locally...to find your external IP simply visit http://www.whatismyip.com[/url] -
Just a question, if it is a cheap standalone, it will probably have a composite output for the monitor...if it has this then plug that into a TV Tuner or capture card to get the images

Does anyone know of a small but robust camera that can be mounted in something similar to a car bumper, it must not look ultra wide and must not flip or rotate the image?

The following is a camera test that was done in order to test the Baxall Full Body Cameras - we had been using their dome cameras (Well actually some domes that they chose to OEM and they were excellent) and thought we would try to compare their full body range! The test is not a perfect lab test and althought the area in testing had changed slightly within the two days of doing the test (bloody phone calls) I am confident that the lighting levels would not have differed enough to warrant any favourable or unfavourable outcome. I wanted to see the results "out of the box" hence gain was left on ect and therefore noise has resulted in most of the images, the only change made was to switch the XF Daynighter into a low light mode (the out of the box settings can also be seen in another image) Anyhow I hope this helps...special thanks to Rory becuase I could not gett he site to allow me to upload all the images ...Rory did some for me.

Baxall UK Gone Bust
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
It wont affect the AU operations at all, Ricky bought Baxall and then QR Sciences bought it (or probably some of it), I had been wondering why they were selling Samsung and Sanyo and Ganz as well as Baxall product, for a long time it made no sense to me as to why they would want to compete against their own product, but I guess Tricky Ricky knew the wrinting was on the wall with Baxall and was very smart about it. It wont affect them as they are not owned by Baxall, I dont think they will even need to change their name, however they wont be able to have as much margins now, and they will be no different to other non manufactoring wholesalers like Pacom. Baxall Australia are doing realy well, they wont be going anywhere, but if someone like Bosch decided that they wanted the market now...then as a manufactorer they could drop their prices and burn everyone...highly unlikely because oS buyers would then buy from AU. Oh well no more Ice Domes....thats life!
