Some of these I am not 100% on but here goes. 1/ De Interlace Filter would be I imagine the abilty to use software to render an image correctly, the interlacing effect that was so common a problem for so long (this is where tears appear around the edges of large fast moving objects) can be rectified be handling the interlace 2:1 of fields into frames so that there is littel tearing at the resolutions that are cropped etc. 2/ Video Auto Gain would be where a camera gives a weak signal to the DVr resulting in some kind of video problem, by turning up or down the gain you can enhance the 1v pk to pk signal or decrease it so that it is perfect every time, adding gain can often multiply the noise in the picture. 3/ Video Scaling would be the smarts in a VGA card to handle redering when zooming in, to test this zoom in on a small image say 320x240 and wacthit pixilate or go blocky, try turning this on if your video card supports it and it may show you some better results. 4/ As mentioned 5/ AVI repair would be when corrupted files occur due to an abnormal shut down, the way that windows closes an AVI file can require it to finish it's entire recording that is in buffer memory, so if it crashes or reboots at the wrong moment then you end up witha corrupted AVI, the problem is that because it is corrupted windows can not see how big the file is. I would assume that the repair utility would seek these files and repair them. 6/ Long explanaitions are needed for wavelet compression but basically it is the ability to compress each still image and ascertain what parts of the image require more details (more contours or movement etc) and compress them less, so that flat roads that are all the same shade have little detail but cars that are moving and dynamic shapes require greater detail.

I would try for a hybrid DVR that way if you have many cameras in one area and just a few in others then you can stick to analogue for the local ones and stream the rest over I.P. Anyone know of any Monitoring station softwraes designed for I.P. only cams...and yes I know about Geo centre and it is all i need but I need it to be I.P. cams

split ohne video signal on two monitor
cctv_down_under replied to vda's topic in General Digital Discussion
As I have no doubt...you are aware!! Technically you are correct however to the naked eye it may make little difference, especially if gold connectors are used on very short runs (close to the monitor etc) I am not saying that the extra resisitance will nto have an effect, but it can be so minor that it is hardly noticed and I would agree with AV that it is worth a try to see the result, balancing the signal back to 75ohm 1v pk to pk would be better, however I doubt you will have an issue if it is only a short run. Personally i would not do it, but you could at least try it! -
Rotate a view by 90 degrees
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
Because independant of the lens type. (mind you that was my suggestion) the image is still 6;4 ration therefore the extra height, that was width, is excellent oin narrow fence lines... I know your going to say a wider angle will help, but then you lose detail, quite simply....if you zoom in to get a facial shot, you have more width than height, turning this on its side will allow more hieght than width...I wouldn't do it this way but customer wants it and has already modified the bracket, i dont want to turn a monitor on its side, because ventilation is on the side and also the CRT gun is usually on embedded springs, i do not want to throw it our by haiving it hang not where it was supposed to effecting my scanning -
Rotate a view by 90 degrees
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
Actually that is the whole problem, the camera has been rotated on it's side to look along a fence, becuase most cams are (guessing) 6:4 it actually is more effective like this and before anyone suggests a Pillow or turning a monitor on it's side!!! I need a device that can rotate the signal so I do not need to lay a monitor on it's side, I also need it urgently -
I must admit they are not cheap!

I am very interested in Kandcorp's post, I had used Aver and it was full of problams, but this was many moons ago... one thing always bugged me and that was that Aver was a TRUE manufactorer, so i was surpirsed their product was not one of the best and with their margins and software development guys , it really surprised me about their lack of good product. I knew in time they would come good, glad to hear they may be finally up there

Problems with a geovision GV-250 and GV-600
cctv_down_under replied to MRWHITE35's topic in Geovision
Disconnect the other two cameras and only have the good one connected to port number 1 then try again -
Geovision has a load of features making it a very easy sell, the main reason many distributors drop it, is because EVERYONE sells it, so it is hard to compete as you have no edge. The other reason is that Geovision tend to sell to anyone so there is no protection to distributors. it has an ugly GUI but it would have to be said that Geo releases more features than the 5 biggest manufactorers added together!

Help with Geovision software for remote view
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_survivor's topic in Geovision
make sure you are not usuign a shortcut to get to the IP address page, make sure you go to the first loading page, I know it's stupid but look at the top of your explorer page, does it havea small pop up saying you need to allow active x controls, to be sure I would try connecting ot the demo at Geovisions site. Often people do not see the active x warning message -

Geovision software 'Can't find Keypro' error
cctv_down_under replied to CCTVDude's topic in Geovision
I doubt you made this mistake however: If you load the software BEFORE the drivers it will not detect the card...hence no dingle dongle and no operation, you need to fully uninstall the software and drivers and do it in the right order if this was the case, however I doubt you made this mistake -
great tip AV been using that kind of thing for ages

I used t use my drill battery, means it is always there and usually hanging from my belt, but recently I made a good one with an alarm battery and it stopped my drill going flat -
split ohne video signal on two monitor
cctv_down_under replied to vda's topic in General Digital Discussion
not an accurate one... but a good rule of thumb... if you are going to run more than 10 meters from your connector I would advise not suing it and using a distribution amplifier instead, keep in mind, many DVR's , Monitors and analogue devices have what is known as a "loop out" which is exactly what you are looking for! -
mobile/ PDA remote viewing confusion
cctv_down_under replied to washmaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Basically you need to first choose between a phone that has a recogniseable operating system like windows mobile or a phone that simply supports a browser interface. The phones with a operating system will usually allow you to connect through a browser and some DVR programs will be written to operate on the PDA type format. If you were to forget a phone all together and go back to basics, you can simply connect to most DVR's by either a web page (usually active x controls) or from software loaded on. The same is for phones, BUT!!!! not every phone will allow you to load codecs and active X controls, therefore browser phone based viewing is unlikely for any type of MPEG4 straming, however it may work with JPEG, the problem is that on a small screen you will need to navigate to the part of the browser sotware (and yes i know some do this automatically in both browser and on pda's) that has the window you want to see, therefore it is clumsy at best. However software will fit the images properly and the application is designed to run on the device, therefore codecs etc are loaded, but most cheaper non operating systme phones will not allow software to be loaded. Try http://www.marchnetworks.com as I believe they havea pda application -
Wide Dynamic is the ability to optimise contrast in differing levels, and the ability to handle both dark and light images in the same picture, they are perfect for situations similar to what you just described for example WITH WDR APPLIED AND WITHOUT

focus grief KP&C-350BH camera Fujinon YV5x2.7R4B-SA2L
cctv_down_under replied to sparrow's topic in Security Cameras
I am betting the answer to the guys question is that he has the ring either on the end of the lens by mistake or on the camera by mistake, some dodgy suppliers still ship lenses and cameras with the spacer in place.. also you may be using a 1/2" camera and the wrong lens format for it? -
Does anyone know of any web encoders to convert analogue to IP, that will stream JPEG so that it may work on a Dibis Bosch DVR also would be handy if you could do several cameras at one time in one device. Pricing is an issue.... I need 28 of them.

IP Streaming devices
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The Dibos DVR accepts both analogue and IP inputs but most MPEG4 encoding is proprietory and therefore can not be decoded by many Hybrid DVR's this is why JPEG enconding (becasue it is more standard) is recommended. I need JPEG IP cameras or I would prefer Encoding widgets
