Wiring Suggestions for a quarter mile
cctv_down_under replied to pingsquare's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
There is no problem with active UTP equipment excepting a lack of shielding on the cat5 cable, I prefer to use coax it just seems to give a better result and using the XF range (Bosch) allows you very long distances without need of UTP gear or amps so I do not bother much with UTP gear. -

Check that your ISP will allow you to broadcast out on those ports you are using, suprisingly some block certain ports, especially webserving ports like 80 etc, I think they just don't want anyone hosting websites -

Cant figure out this set up..
cctv_down_under replied to jisaac's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
OHHH come on!!! My guess... your keyboard was choosing which camera was displayed on the plasma, hence why it disappeared after disconnection, it sounds like you have a second satelite keyboard connected to either the Mux or the Matrix of the system. The main output of your DVr/Mux/Matrix was fed into the device supplying video to the plasma, so monitor out wars fed inot the plasma, therefore they shoud have been able to change cameras if they knew how to use it properly, the second one worked because it never got powered down and was set for the PTZ.?? -

License Plate Capture Camera & Settings Debate
cctv_down_under replied to iwatchlive's topic in Security Cameras
Adam basically the faster the shutter the lower the lighting I assume nega-view is inversion and is excelelnt for this purpose of tags becasue it eliminates vertical smearing (that white line going vertically accross the screen)> The best I have seen is the Baxhaul (spelling?) camera that has this feature, but any of the XF cameras from Bosch have "default shutter" and "traffic mode". I can not tell you how easy it is to have a mode set for this purpose, so one click and bingo, your set for traffic then it can change to daily settings from the output of your DVR. -

PC specs for FPS are garbage, they are based at 320x240, lower your res and the PCI bus may accomodate the speeds you need to get those frames, crank it up and watch the frames drop.. Most people do not realise that a 768x576 standalone at 50FPS is equivelant to about a 160FPS pc because when you increase the res to thsi size your frames will drop from 160 to 50 in a heartbeat unless hardware compression is used OHHH COME ON HERMY LET ME IN -

Geovision cards and video (graphics) cards... Which one?
cctv_down_under replied to C7Installer's topic in Geovision
CCTVINSTALLER is correct, that is all you need to look for, but FAN is a massive thing and that is why you should pay for a better card or simply stick to the cheaper one and replace the fans like I do. Radeons handle TV Out better than any other card but the HW Overlay can affect the GVDSP so if using a DSP card go for NVIDIA -
If the video is stored on a seperate partition there should be no need to defrag at all. I would clean the video drive fully...not a quick format as corrupted geo files are a real headache. I think it may be an issue with the slot you are using, do not use first or last slot and i would stress test your ram, but strange that mouse still works. make sure your not accidently recording to c:

parking lot call box integration with surveillance video
cctv_down_under replied to griffonsystems's topic in General Digital Discussion
Sean is right, either the dome or the dvr can have an input, when activated this can make the ptz move to a pre recorded position, so whatever they do to turn it on, you simply open or close the contact and then feed that to PTZ or DVR and set a pre set posiion for it. -
Most important feature/function of a DVR.
cctv_down_under replied to kandcorp's topic in General Digital Discussion
It has to be resolution and compression for me, after all the bells and whistles are great, but you really simply want the footage to prosecute!!
