I tottaly disagree with you rory, the geo remote software is not bad at all, depends on what you use. did you use.. Multicast, TCP Client, Webcam, PDA, Center V1, or Center V2? I was aware of the resolution thanks rory, just was making a point of the Software Interlace... post a screen shot of your customised Geo.. god knows they cant design good looking ones.

OOPS...always read the second page of a post, sorry question was answered and much more correctly by Coops, got mixed between IPS and Fields, two fields to every frame....TWICE THE SPEED!!! LOL
-
Rory, try a XF Daynight with removable IR Filter and you will need to use less IR Illuminators...seriously
-
rory, they are not as good as the XF's...buy an XF daynighter and if you don't come back and tell me it's awesome I will leave this forum for good!! of course yo do have to be honest

SONY IP Cameras and IR light
cctv_down_under replied to jacan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you take a lens of a camera, look at the CCD and it is Green, then it will not handle IR light, that is what is known as a IR filter, it blocks IR light ranges that cameras can detect, otherwise it would overshot (go very bright) during the day, some really good cameras actually remove this filter mechanically to alow this to happen at nightime, sot hat the filter is completely removed..these are True Day Night cameras, the others simply suck the chrominance out of the picture. Be carefull as most lenses are also IR treated these days, and you need a lens that can bounce the spectrum in the right way so you should use IR corrected lenses. -
Actually Metz, these domes now are daynight domes as standard, they all have nightsense, they even have 540TVL now http://www.boschsecuritysystems.com/au/en/start/load.htm?news&cms={site:au;ID:com1069} http://www.boschsecuritysystems.com/uk/en/start/load.htm?news&cms=%7bsite:uk;ID:uk1053e%7d

I would have to agree with Rory, B/W is good for clubs, unless you have good money to spend, obviously its hard to tell the cops what colour shirt they were wearing though. if it is a bar, it will be reasonably lit and will stay in good colour if you buy a Pana or Bosch Cam but if your going to not need colour, just buy simple B/W bullets, as for PTZ way overkill, but here is an excellent option that is PTZ and yet a standard Varifocal Dome, and very well priced but not sure who distributes in your area. http://www.koreacctv.com/eng/product/product_view.php?ac_id=70&ai_id=351

You have to be very carefull when reading those specs, IPS is a lot different to FPS, the reason is that there are actually 2x IPS to every FPS, it takes two images to make a frame, they are overlayed together and interlaced, hence why on some cheaper DVR's especially in PAL sizes, see a tearing effect when large fast moving objects are onscreen. some DVR's offer a software remedy for example Geo has 640x480 and 640x480SW (Software Interlace). In truth most manufacturers don't cheat and therefore the terminolgy of IPS is the Same as FPS, but some do!

I think I would still rather, not have to have extras, just nice to have it there if needed

The modules wont auto adjust your impedance. least I think not... as for on;ly for Coax, not really.. it has several different options of cabling type to choose from

pluc codecs, like the Ligos Indeo codec owned by Microsoft and used for some MPEG4, not sure on ActiveX but Mozzilla has it so cant see why mac wouldn't, I think Jpeg would be fine as codecs already supported in mac for most -
the camera has it inbuilt into it, you can choose the cable you use and it will balance the signal, not sure if it is actually an amp or anything

Metz, i havent looked close enough at either product, but I loved the Kalatel, have you used the Divar yet, I am interested to see your thoughts if indeed you have tried all three. DM tends to sell a lot more here than Kalatel, but I think the main reason is better marketing, if you had seen the glossy's they produce, you would know what I mean, pound for pound thought the kalatel shines, but surely could have nicer (looking) software.

Voice over I.P. never was either, nor were computers, nor were automotive parts, but you can get them all from Kmart now! I agree with the stolen thing, never thought of that but surely there is a way to erase a flash rom, and I am sure by then you could easily have the bandwidth to stream it to a SAN area anyhow or monitoring station. I can see it coming, I really can, in honesty my foxtel at home uses compression already, would not take much to change a few bits of firmware to allow it to take a camera input, and why not, considering you dont pay for the box. Maybe a bit further on, but not as distant as one might think.

You will probably find anything that has Jpeg type viewing will be fine and mpeg4 may be a bit of an issue as the codecs may not be supported, not sure about Active X but I assume it should be ok. -
I am not sure how many Meters there are to a Mile, however with the Bosch XF camera you can run RG59 cable 1000MTR 1KM without loss, this is inbuilt into the camera, what you need to consider is the ability to read the impedance, and this is done via the camera so that all cams on the screen of your machine will have the same visual response. Sorry to sound like a sales rep, (been trying not to do that as much) but this is a good feature.
-
No way!!!!!, Not huge fan of Geo anymore, but thats mainly because of their organisation, nothing to do with their product.. time and again they have some of the best features around and WELL before anyone else and they are CHEAP.. only problem is anyone can build em, so your product.."the geo" gets a bad name if someone builds a crap one! I cant think of another DVR with as many features in it's price range though

Id say it's your ISP, your router does not need the PC to be on to stay connected, however try a program called "keep it alive" or one of those other constant small traffic softwrae generators .. or try tracing the hops next time she goes down to see where the break is!

I think its your White Balance, do you have it on auto or manual awb or mwb? Try making the cam look outside a window, then iside at a white piece of paper..very quickly..and only the peice of paper, let us know what the result is.

I personally am not a big fan of Everfocus, but they do seem fairly stable indeed, but they lack a lot of features and after taking one of the 4ch ones apart it looked like very simple design.. I have heard the new "hot Swap" ones are better but way overpriced compared to competition.. as for Milestone.. was the first I saw, never really talked to them, just ahd a play, had a nice feel to it, good design, well layed out and many functions.. but I tned to agree..support counts for everything, especially here in Australia. i might take a closer look at Everfocus again someday, i know a guy that works for Ness and he si a really good straight shooter so may get the low down from them, i bet the product has evolved since I last looked at it! -
Nice cams,. the Pano's, I have heard of getting the "Right Angle" but never the "White Angel", now stop giving speed to that bird and get back to work.

Recording resolution
cctv_down_under replied to sue's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Sue, your looking at a fairly small scene and not too far away, so it's not that big an issue to have "postage stamp" sized images, it's actully pretty good for what you paid! Mind you I bet the low light ability is weak.. but thats prolly a good thing with good lookin daughters like yours.. you may not want to know what time they get home LOL
