    PCI Bus Limitation - Resolution

http://It would be nice to have an 80G HDD in a single camera and have it move the footage in off-peak hours to NVR. Already exists.. or you can stream in Mpeg4 or Mpeg2 or via FTP!!

    fiber, cat5 or coax

gosh you pay insane prices, you just need sender and reciever cans.. GE sells them here for around $100US I think been ages since I did single cans.. usually mux the stuff first, and usually only on larger jobs but as you can see with the cable being cheaper, you can almost use the cans and havea similar price..bet you will start to see these built into cams soon, lets face it not many PTZ's out there that dont have this option!

    Interesting GV combo card coming

Exactly.... keep in mind though you dont need much power now that the new boards are here, with onboard compression

I want an authorised Geovision dealer to supply GV1000+cams

Thats the MAJOR problem with Geo.. anyone can build it, so if someone elses crashes, then guess what Geo is now terribly in the eye of the end user.. you cant enforce everyone else to build em good so thems the breaks... nice features though

So you want to buy a Geovision?

What a dick!!! most of that Geo info is so worng and no one could simply make that mistake, how rude to lie just to get sales...geesh they must be pretty scared of Geo to put another product on their website LOL Idiots!! Gosh all they need do is mention the Lime Green GUI!!

Actually due to the copper price rise... Fiber is actually much cheaper... only thing expensive is splicing, unless you buy a kit to do it yourself

    PCI Bus Limitation - Resolution

Havent looked at those links of Rory's yet.. but like i said 5 Mega I.P. cams are already in existance and they have alarm inputs to allow the picture to be sent only on input. Problems are that your only Taking a few pics, very hard to get an actuall puch thrown or shot fired at exact monet that hardware closure happens and how fast can they retake the next shot, some have that fancy shooiting option to allow several frames, but the delay may not be enough, and what about shutter speeds etc, by the time you get a fancy digital cam that does that, plus Auto iris... lets see, not going to be a real good picture when sunlight is on it or the flash from a gun or car headlights etc etc... I agree CCTV cams are overpriced considering what you can get with a standard Digi Cam, but they do have some advantages, the majority of the loss you are getting is in the compression, and that can be avoided byusing I.P. equipment, because even if your camera can take a full resolution image, most DVR's will crop it as the processing is too much, then they compress it so it will fit as video on thier HDD, this is where your losing your detail, simply doing an I.P. camera with large resolution and using either FTP or a direct to a HDD, with little or no Compression MPEG2 etc then you will get the resolution you need, but there aint too many outdoor detectors around and you can already get 768x576 images at what ever frame rate you need and that isnt too bad but 5 mega would be nicer, but whom has the bandwidth or the storage

Ganz ZC-Y30NH4 Hi Res Color Camera

They really are an awesome camera, but due to the hype by sanyo and GE and Pana, the darn thing nearly got overlooked, its an ace cam but not as good as the XF, but but very good bang for buck as is most Ganz products. I am glad to be cheaper with Bosch because the Ganz is at least 75% our quality and a very low failure rate indeed!!

Ganz ZC-Y30NH4 Hi Res Color Camera

Mate best price I have seen for a 10 buy on XF is $*** US, I am sure it would be different for 1000 pieces and I reckon I can kill the price for Ganz

Only 4 analogue, i have heard the new Bosch will do 30 Analogue and 30 IP and the excellent lil trick.....you can use the remote software for the DVr to manage the I.P. cams. eliminating your need for things like Milestone, so a free app can be used to control your I.P. cams... rather cheecky really and I doubt it will stay that way!! i saw the Dibos 8 the other day for the first time, nicest GUI I have seen for a long time.. some nice featurs are that it has two analogue outputs and you can drag cameras into them from the mainscreen poping them up on the monitor of your choice. plus a nice scheduled back up feature and the ability to pantilt and zoom within the camera window with the mouse, so moving up, moves the camera up etc... aslo the remote config of the cameras is neat.

Ganz ZC-Y30NH4 Hi Res Color Camera

Ur not going to be happy with Sanyo, they are about the same price..almost all cams are now, Sanyo is considered cheap garb in this country...PS a lil hint all new stock for Bosch next week will be 550TVL and they are a much better camera than either of those two at about the same prices

Ganz ZC-Y30NH4 Hi Res Color Camera

Metz, i cant see the price in this post.. if you PM me the price i will beat it for you, mind you I could probably beat it with the XF and that is a much nicer camera and those fancy settings that your doing on the side of the camera, well you wont have to the XF can be done up the coax by software..even through the internet and most of all it can be updated this way as well..making it future proff, I bet I can beat that price and with 3 yr warranty not 12 months

    PCI Bus Limitation - Resolution

Also.... you can already get 5 megapixel IP cameras, problem is the bandwidth for the upstream.. lets face it if you want good quality then you need 4 x ciffe resolution and that in MPEG2 is 5200kbps, thats for one camera only so imagine trying to uplaod 16 at once.... That is whay what has been invented is a IPwebservers with HDD, this way you can record on motion detection MPEG2 in high quality, but can transmit compressed MPEG4, thsi means you can stream reasonable sized streaming then when an alarm actions then you can stream MPEG2 or retrieve it, they also have ANR technology which sends a live check message to the device so that when a network goes down, the webserver knows when and then resends the missing data to the network recording Device, when the network is back up again. Recording Space and Bandwidth are the two biggest issues at the moment, stopping the movement from going forward, wehn both of these are sorted then we will see high definiton images coming into play. The beaty of the aboe mentioned devices is much more prevelant when you have Hybrid DVR's these are Analogue/IP systems, thsi way you can have say 16 hard wired cams and from the shed down town you can stream one unit to the same box and take it in as a input or convert it back to analogue, seriously if you have 24 shops with only the need for 1 cmarea at each, why put in DVR's when you can network them all...offer voice over I.P. and record for them, they do not need to have a DVR at all, just charge them to store the data and they can web access any events they want to.... Think about it... you sell 1 camera and 1 webserver or an i.P. cam, you sell the ISP connection..which would give you prolly 10% commish, then you charge a weekly rate for voice over I.P..at a rate that is only 50% what they pay now and you lock them into monitoring and storage at a monthly rate as well. And you charge them for internet access...so your making four lots of recurring revenue!!!
