Sorry, i dont doubt your right, I never have used Cmount lenses! werent used much when I started doing this, I would have assumed because of the different sized cmount adaptors that I have seen, many different thread measurements and tapers, that it would affect focal legth after all the difference between lens and sensor would have to adjust the focal distance??? I know your going to say they all the same but I have at least three different ones on my desk in front of me, some of which do not ven seem to work with the old cmount lenses that I have here
  4. Also keep in mind if camera is in a housing, if you put the lens a bit back from the glass of the enclosure, then that may be fine for close shots, but it can create a second lens from different viewing distances, try to get it as close to the glass front as possible as long as you have a glare shroud that is?
  5. Ram and case? Looks ok, but brands are what counts, you can alwyas buy the card from me or one of the guys in US that buys from me!

    Troubleshooting help

Dont think its the DVR, looks like very cheap camera with very poor signal to noise ration, when it gets dark the noise is really bad, seen this on cheap cams, must admit even some korean low light ones I have sold have done this, always the ones with low signal to noise ratio, have never seen it on any of the japanese cameras that we have sold, I am betting it is an AVtech or some Taiwanese cheap camera.

Yes they will, but I do not know anyone that still sells Cmount lenses, most these days are CSmount
  10. If you want to get out the purchase, use the link on Geo's site to prove it is not a Geo card, that should be enough to get you out of it becaause of the false advertising
  11. mostly a different angle, we ll not really different, just more of an angle, because further away, but that also depends on how you set your lens. Some things to note are though, that if you are looking fom further away, you have to consider the light that will reach the camera for example street lights are not at that hieght, plus you have more chance of glare etc, basically the camera will probably work harder, mind you the lighting will be more constant because you may not have to deal with shadows etc, what you might find is that you put the camera up there and chose the wrong lens for the job, so your focal point has fallen short of the objects you want to see, try focussing in on the objects you want while doing the camera, the field of view will change with the distance so choose your lens wisely. Chances are that your focal point is too close to the camera and you may not have adjusted the backfocus when setting the camera up, try setting it at night time. One other thing to note, if the camera moves because of wind etc, each movement can make the camera adjust the signal to balance the output, this can result in poor picture quality fromt he camera hunting all the time. Regards, GC

C Mount lenses use and adapter ring to mount on CS mount cameras, CS mount is pretty much the new standard, really I would not bother with C mount anymore

    XP Pro SP2

It does work ok, but one thing to keep in mind is that some web based remote view things use active x and by defualt with SP2 this is not always allowed, nor is some Pop up web functions, SP2 apparently has a firewall built in as well so you may have problems with that, I think it will only affect your remote applications
  14. Well it is definately not a Geo card, Rory, the card runs the extra connectors on an IDE cable adapter then fly leads, the IDE connector at the top of the card is where they extnsion plugs in, this looks more like a live display card though, it has 8 chips and most of the time a chip represents 25FPS, these are the Techwell chips BT drivers prolly wont work with it, tell me was it rated at 400FPS?

Help? Panasonic WJ-HD500B or Kalatel DVMRE CT

Have you looked at the DM gear they recently announced that they sell the most standalones in the entire world, not bad going!
  20. Looks like a bad chip, seen this before many times, could be faulty cameras

    Bad Video Signal

One more thing, check your DVR softwrae is not set to wrong video standard, could be that you have set it to NTSC instead of PAL or visa versa, easiest way to check is with the small monitor, best to get one of these, best around is the Ganz as it has a loop through and amplification as well as B/W Colour switch and brightness and contrast settings... very handy piece of kit considering it runs on AAA Batteries

    Bad Video Signal

adaptors? are there connections anywhere at all or is it free of joins between DVR and camera, what is the longest run for the furthest camera? I would fistly suggest it is a power issue, but you may have caused damage tot eh camera from the PSU, make sure when testing that you test one power cable and one video cable at a time, do not let any other power cables still be attached to the same PSU. If you do nto have service monitor it would be wise to invest in one, a good trick to do if working on a budget is to get a cheap 12V Telly, this way using your 12V drill battery you can make a cable and plug then simply run this montior from your drill battery, meaning you can test while up a ladder etc. Looks like either crook DVR power issue or zapped cams

Maybe I missunderstood, but cant you just use a looping webserver to accomplish this and the remote suites already allow for streaming recordings off site into file structures that can be managed?

The Geo control room is used world wide and is very good, I would not say it was a cheap option, it has a load of features like, remote latch, programable keypad support, Ity even checks the upstatus of the system by sneding a heartbeat. This is a real time situation that is excellent with the control room. Imagine this.... you just bought a ferrari but your painting your gartage so you had to park it on the street, you simply use the object index missing item section to paint over your car, then as soon as it is no longer in the picture it sends an alarm notifictaion to the control room which autmatically sends you an SMS, the video is stored at the control room and the operator belows out to yo through your DVR speakers that you car has just been stolen. The same principles work for safes etc even survieelance to see when people leave buildings etc. As far as internet stability Rory is right about that, but there is a despatch server that can send it to any other control room online and then buffer it back to yours when it is online... Control rooms for video are an excellent idea, the reason is that even if the perpitrator takes your DVR, you still have footage of them at the control room and the small AVI file plus the attachment can be sent to the police... another good example is vandalism, imagine someone throws a rock at a camera and smacshes it, the dvr will record that happening but nop one will know till the next day, you can have the control room notified if cameras drop out, or if large POS sales are done, or objects are left behind like bombs or if a sensor has gone off. I think the control room is one of the best I have seen around
