Trust me Rory, you dont want them, they are not the best
-
Could be a whole lot of things, but probably is because your live display iuses digital signal processing to enhance the quality, recorded images are always less clear because they are compressed, looks bad with low TV Line cameras, your camer probably looks better when light comes in because of its signal to noise ratio. could also be the setting on the DVR for your camera. Different cameras are for different uses, first tell us what your lighting is like and what results you want and what DVr you are using, Pixilation can also be because of poor interlacing and often because a small image recorded resoluiton can be stretched to view on playback, is ther a higher resolution setting and can you make adjustments on your DVr for Birghtness etc and Gain control. Try turning on the AGC switch on your camera or adjusting the DC trimpot

Best Place to buy Geovision
cctv_down_under posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I have had enough of the US market trying to increase their sales by selling to Australia, thing is they know JACK about Geo so I have decided to act, I am sick of them selling below Geo's recommended prices so from now on my morals go out the window. If anyone wants prices cheaper thatn they are already getting but with much better support please email me with a contact email and I will email some pricing for export.. I never wanted to do this but if it is ok for them it must be OK for me! -
Geovision partitioning for Log

I agree with Tom, Kingston is a great brand, so is Corsair, especially the XMS series and not the Value Select Series, they have higher test failure allowance. Samsung OEMS a lot of stuff for example Samsung Techwin Cameras are not made by Samsung Electronics, they just have their name branded on them. One thing Tommentioned is critical.... Falkey Ram is very hard to trouble shoot as it can look like so many other fualts and it can be very hard to test so that is ALWAYS one area we never scrimp on. As for your log of events, it is only text and you can make it recycle, so either increase your 10GB to 15 or 20 (handy anyhow with service pack 2 out, and who knows what around the corner) and make a folder there and be sure that you set it to recycle, or tore it on the video Drive... wont affect the video as long as not inside the video storage folder.. I would prolly do the latter if you are not going to use recycle after certain days -

Operating System for GEO-600 cards
cctv_down_under replied to Robert Oaks's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Spot on again tom, firewalls are very important and in most routers these days anyhow. as for Linux cards, there are zillions of them, AVERMEDIA makes a reasonable one, XP is more stable than 2k in my humble opinion and the drivers will work better on XP and because updates are done for XP, you would be better set to use XP than 2k and with XP Pro, you can remotely configure the machines with remote desktop! As for the HAL, yep its a pain but only if make major changes to the hardware, the extent of the worst case scenario is having to be on the phone to reactivate your Opertaing System (get a new key number), I have heard this can take a while, mind you if you are not going to change much in the hardware you can do it up to three times over the web and that takes about ten minutes from memory -

Good video webserver?
cctv_down_under replied to sue's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hadn't tried them as thier power supply did not meet our countries standards, I hear they have fixed this now but have yet to try them out. -
as always I agree with Tom, we replace the HDD bay fans with ones purchased seperately, all the ones I used at home have now had to be replaced. The PCI slot fans have the same problem, my recommendations is to use a good case with good ventilation, like the Antecs, try to use Sata if you can because cables can block airflow, replace the heatsink witha better one and a more robust fan, Zalman does pretty good ones. We do not use Prescotts because of the heat generated, and if you are concerned about noise, get fan controller's or buya $2.50 resistor to reduce the spin and the noise. That way if they put it in a cupboard you can leave it noisy, but if in a nice aircon office you can afford to reduce the spin a little and therefore the noise. If you chosoe wiseley you can get fan controllers with temp guages in them, so you can monitor the temps, but these are not 100% accurate, however they do givea firly good indication.

Fred, I have sold hundreds off the standalones but not many of the web serveres, boys told me it was a real BIARCh to set up, because of the converted 15 pin cable to 9 pin,, Is this right? Must admit pretty cool little unit for the price, very fast indeed and makes a sub $1000 ($ AUD) package for a standalone. What do you sell for above 4CH -

cctv_down_under replied to eire32's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Could be a fualty card, but my bets are a weak camera signal, try it on another prot, you must switch your video signal to 640x480 SW not 640x480 to get softwrae interlace. Chances are you have an earth loop or a cheapo camera that is not getting enough signal to the DVR, see if it folows the different ports you try and try leaving it off to se if it is the problem, BTW is it a B/W cam? -

2ch Video server $179 US input two DVR's -
Geovision %$^&* sorry.. I have to curse when ever I say their name now.. hs a control room softwrae that allows you to have video sent on motion or alarm to the control room, it has a despacth server as well that can send it to many control rooms if one is down and has all the usual contreol room features like, customer details etc, it also allows voice and camera control etc
